Why are these engagements relevant?
It is important to establish whether businesses in the Eden district are ready to make use of the opportunities that could come their way through coordinated and facilitated investment recruitment campaigns. Engagements will give a clear indication of the competitive advantage of the district regarding business products and services. Key emerging sections will also be identified, while additional opportunities within these sectors will be marketed to investors. These engagements will gear businesses towards investment readiness.
As local government, we need to establish what the challenges are that businesses are facing when expanding their operations, how to retain existing businesses in the district and how to encourage outside businesses to invest in our area/region.
A collective approach (public and private sector) to grow the economy will result in a broad and inclusive roll-out of skills development programmes and opportunities.
