    Engineering Manager (North West)

    Description

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    • To lead the Engineering Team in the safe and cost-effective execution of the Asset Capability Assurance process through clearly defined strategies and objectives for maintenance of plant, equipment & facilities for the site.

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

    • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Department through effective use of the Toolbox
    • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.

    CUSTOMERS:

    Key customers: Production, Logistics and Finance

    • Jointly define annual service level agreements with site production personnel
    • Put systems and controls in place that will ensure that the site is maintained at specified performance and within prescribed technical & legal requirements, that will permit a safe and environmentally acceptable operation to meet the required production-rated capacity at minimum life cycle costs.

    PEOPLE:

    Manage the Department by:

    • Ensuring an enabling climate/culture
    • Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
    • Ensure labour complement in line with budget and achieve HDSA and Female targets for the Section
    • Manage performance against set targets and competencies and conduct career discussions with identified talent
    • Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
    • Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
    • Conduct recruitment interviews
    • Provide training for students and graduates.

    BUSINESS PROCESSES:

    • Document and review the overall Engineering strategy on an annual basis to ensure that it is aligned with the business plan
    • Ensure strict adherence to maintenance work and management principles (percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns, number of proactive requests) to obtain maximum plant and machine availability at minimum maintenance cost per unit produced
    • Manage the Engineering Assets to ensure that they produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life
    • Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications
    • Periodically audit the asset and documentation to obtain maximum standardisation of spares and new plant installations on the site.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.Eng./BSc. (Eng.) Degree or Diploma
    • Government Certificate of Competency (for Mines)
    • At least 8 years relevant post qualification experience, with 3 years managerial experience.
    • Additional qualifications (Advantageous):
    • Master’s degree
    • MBA/MBL
    • Professional registration with ECSA.

    Mining Administrator Control Room (Rustenburg)

    Description

    Job Responsibilities:

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

    • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk
    • Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate and report SHEQ status

    CUSTOMERS:

    • Ensure Customer Satisfaction
    • Emergency Preparedness:
    • Initiate emergency procedures:

    BUSINESS PROCESSES:

    Production:

    • Monitor and control the underground mining environment, pumps, and dam levels
    • Network with LHD Operators, Team Leaders, Mining Supervisors and Mine Overseers regarding underground activities that may impact positively or negatively on production
    • Record and gather information on a breakdown / equipment failure
    • Monitor CBS boxes and direct maintenance operations to fix
    • Provide a central communication point for all emergencies
    • Liaise with Mining and Maintenance Supervisors and Operators
    •  Ensure Customer Satisfaction

    Analysis:

    • Analyse and interpret verbal radio communication and take corrective action Supervisor.
    • Analyse data to ensure optimal mining performance

    Maintenance:

    • Report all mobile machines and conveyor belts breakdowns to the appropriate channel
    • Must be able to analise and identify problems with the CBS systems
    • Assist in maintaining CBS system
    • Record all operational data and corrective action
    • Make call outs to maintain production and ensure availability of machines and equipment

    Reporting:

    • Complete the shift report and have it verified and approved
    • Shift clearance reports
    • Record and finalise all shift reports against targets
    • Maintain continuous communication with all operations (underground engineering and mining)
    • Keep records on production performance for the mine
    • Interact with the Mining Engineer daily regarding the production progress
    • Generate accurate reports and distribute them to relevant line managers

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Grade 10 / N1
    • 7 years’ relevant experience

    Miner (Steelpoort)

    Description

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    • To effectively operate a stopping panel and/or development end during a shift by ensuring safe working practices, continuous inspection of panel and/or end conditions, planning to achieve operational targets and monitoring the availability of resources.

    Requirements
