    Broker Consultant (PG10) Expansion): SanlamConnect: Gauteng South Region: Constantia Kloof

    What will you do?

    • This role will report to the Business Manager.
    • Your primary focus will be building a supporting portfolio of brokers to increase new business. The Broker Consultant is the interface between the brokers and Sanlam and strives to achieve the business objectives in a dynamic, innovative and high-performance environment.
    • As a Broker Consultant, you will play a third party marketing role to promote Sanlam products to Brokers, with a primary focus of building a portfolio of supporting brokers, by forming trusting and co-operative relationships that enhance new business opportunities whilst supporting and up-skilling Brokers with the relevant information, tools and technologies that will enable them in their practice.

    Qualification and Experience: 

    • Completed Business/Commerce/Marketing degree
    • Preferably Post graduate diploma in Financial Planning/RFP3/Wealth Management 3

    Software Engineer II

    Position Overview

    • A Software Engineer II that can take responsibility for new features and solve problems in any part of the code. They typically have 5 years or more of software engineering experience.
    • They may lead a feature implementation but will need help with strategy and require guidance from mentors and peers. They should work with Design and Product Management to improve features across the product and troubleshoot any bugs.

    • Despite our language agnostic approach, proficiency in languages used in full-stack / back-end Software Development (Python, Java, C++ etc for example) is required
    • Proficiency at reading, reviewing, understanding code
    • Ability to articulate language differences, implementation and the build & execution process: For example strongly vsweakly typed, static vs dynamic, compiled vs interpreted
    • Data Structures, Algorithms & Algorithmic Problem Solving
    • Ability to articulate the pros / cons of relevant data structures for the use of minimum memory space and execution in the shortest possible time. This includes situations in which a data structure would be applicable, and why
    • Ability to suggests possible / relevant algorithms when developing and optimising solutions for time and space complexity. This includes the ability to discuss options and trade-offs; also in instances where scope increases and solutions have to adapt.

    Engineering & Operational Excellence

    • Understanding of scalability, robustness, operational visibility and agility
    • Understanding of distributed systems and designing these solutions
    • Experience working on projects involving the design and implementation of scalable systems
    • Knowledge of services like AWS VPC, Auto Scaling, serverless computing, storage (EBS, S3), containers, DNS, etc) is preferred yet not a prerequisite. All experience with relevant Cloud-based technologies are beneficial in this role.
    • Understanding of / experience in monitoring, metrics, visibility, health, fault tolerance
    • Experience with / understanding of load balancing and health checking
    • Experience with / understanding of APIs, auth
    • Experience with / understanding of databases and persistence
    • Experience with / understanding of scalable architecture for systems implementation.

    Accountant: Management Reporting: Job Grade 11: SLS Finance: Bellville: Fixed-Term Contract

    What will you do?

    • Expense reporting which includes consolidation of expenses, Corporate expense reporting.
    • Review & analysis of expense reports (e.g. IT costs, Functional costs) submitted to Group.
    • VNB & PVP reporting, preparing of VNB report and loading numbers on HFM for Group submissions.  
    • Assisting and supporting Senior Financial Manager with Profit reporting for SLS, which includes but is not limited to monthly, quarterly, interim, and year-end reporting as well as bi-weekly rolling forecasts delivery to Group Finance.
    • Budget & Forecast reporting with a specific focus on VNB, PVP & expense reporting.  Preparing SLS consolidated reports for VNB, PVP & expenses.
    • Loading of Actual, Budget and forecast profits & PVP & VNB info on HFM.  
    • Assisting with preparation and review of SLS Management & SLS Budget reports e.g. CFO reports, Budget presentations & Budget reports.
    • Quarterly Economic shock submissions to Group Actuarial.
    • Interim & year end – Preparation of reports to External audit on Fixed Assets 
    • Submission of Fixed Assets, Expense notes and any other assigned notes info to HFM (i.e. PPE note, etc) for including in reporting to the market.
    • Process review & process automation opportunities.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Chartered Accountant (CA), CIMA or equivalent qualification.
    • Post articles experience in a financial reporting environment.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Good technical accounting knowledge.
    • Knowledge of Sanlam’s financial reporting systems (Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) & SAP) will be an advantage. 
    • Understanding of IFRS17 profits and value of new business (VNB).
    • Computer literate (MS Office with advanced Excel skills in practice)
    • Planning and organisational skills: Organises and schedules events, activities and resources
    • Good interpersonal skills:  Building and maintaining relationships.  Interacts with others in a sensitive and effective way. Respects and works well with others.
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English.
