    Industrial Relations Specialist

    Why this role matters

    • As an Industrial Relations Specialist, you will play an important role in safeguarding project stability by proactively managing labour relations, community engagement, and stakeholder communication at project level.
    • The role ensures alignment between project execution, contractor compliance, labour legislation, and community expectations. It identifies, assesses, and mitigates industrial relations and social risks that may impact project timelines, compliance, cost, safety, or reputation.
    • As a trusted advisor to project leadership, the Industrial Relations Specialist drives structured stakeholder engagement, facilitates early conflict resolution, and promotes responsible local participation to support project success and Scatec's social licence to operate.
    • This is a role for someone who wants to combine industrial relations and community impact with purpose, learn in a fast-moving international business, and build experience in one of the world’s most relevant industries.

    What you’ll be doing

    In this role, you will:

    • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communication strategies aligned with project objectives and milestones.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, timely communications to stakeholders, ensuring accurate information flow and mitigating misinformation.
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with communities, municipalities, industry bodies, and other key project stakeholders.
    • Monitor labour relations trends, identify emerging risks, and support the prevention and resolution of disputes in line with legislation and company policies.
    • Ensure contractor compliance with labour legislation, local recruitment requirements, and project-related commitments.
    • Promote local economic participation by engaging SMMEs, supporting local procurement initiatives, and maintaining stakeholder and supplier databases.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate industrial relations and community-related risks, including managing grievance mechanisms and implementing corrective actions.
    • Provide specialist advisory support to project teams while managing relationships with Taxi Associations and other key stakeholders to resolve conflicts, mitigate disruptions, and maintain project continuity.

    What you’ll bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, HR, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
    • 5–8 years’ experience in Industrial Relations, Labour Relations, Community Relations, or a similar role within infrastructure, construction, energy, mining, or other project-based environments.
    • Proven experience managing labour disputes, grievance processes, mediation, and industrial relations risks in complex operational environments.
    • Experience ensuring contractor and subcontractor compliance with labour legislation, recruitment protocols, and project commitments.
    • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with community leadership structures, local stakeholders, organised labour, and other external stakeholders.
    • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating industrial relations and community-related risks that may impact project delivery, with willingness and ability to travel across project sites as required.

    Advantageous:

    • Experience in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.

    QC Civil Supervisor (12-Month Contract)

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Civil Quality Control Supervisor in Free State, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. 
    • As our Civil Quality Control Supervisor you will ensure that Monitoring Quality on site is done, perform inspections, ensure complying of Contractors to the Project Quality Plan, follow up & closing out Punch Lists while liaising with the Contractor Construction Supervisors & Engineers. 

    Main responsibilities 

    • Report back to the Site Quality Lead on daily basis on planned vs actual progress on Quality Inspections, sign off & Punch Listin
    • Pro-actively engage with Contractors’ supervisors to optimize daily progress & inspections & monitor the contractor for compliance to the Project Quality Plan at all times
    • Ensure all work carried out is compliant to ISO 9001:2015
    • Review and follow up on and implement contractor’s QC registers such as non-conformance, QCP, ITP checklist and punch lists
    • Perform inspections at site
    • During commissioning and mechanical completion, follow up open punches and sign off punches closed by suppliers and Participate in Site Acceptance Tests
    • Participate in Project Meetings as require
    •  Identify, advise and report to the HSE Manager issues and risks associated with the Project
    • At all times, keep the quality records, including all working Registers, punch lists, ITPs, Check Lists up to date
    • Ensure all Inspection Equipment registers, calibrations, and calibrations certificates are managed and current at all times
    • Ensure special attention is given to hidden works control, process testing & materials used by means of Civil Check Lists
    • Ensure all Red Line, Single Line diagrams & As built drawings are complete, reviewed & signed off, registers updated and uploaded
    • Ensuring all Pre-Commissioning Site Acceptance Testing has been completed & signed off and compliant to the Operation & Maintenance Manual & Requirements

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Technical National Civil Trade Certificate with at least 5 years’  Site experience
    • Proof of Internship/ apprenticeship completion at a reputable Civil Construction Institution (ESKOM, Govermental Sector,etc. ) with 10+ years’ experience on large scale projects
    • Formal Quality Qualification (Six Sigma green/black)
    • Formal Quality Inspection Training Certifications with proof of 15+ Quality Control Experience with contactable references to act as referee for experience & achievements on Construction Projects
    • Competent in navigating & applying  Quality Management Systems
    • Experienced in working & complying to ISO 9001 2015 Standards
    • Experienced in working & complying to IEC Standards
    • Fully computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams,Outlook)

    Site Planner - 12 Month Contract

    Main purpose of position

    • Currently we are looking for a Site Project Planner in Welkom, North-West, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. 
    • As our Site Planner you will be responsible for monitoring the site activities and supporting the projects in line with all core processes, procedures, templates and tools as described within SCATEC.

    Main responsibilities 

    • Assist Senior Project Planner to compile the Overall Master Project Programme (schedule) integrating the standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and baseline preparation
    • Review the contractors’ Planning Package: Baseline, Programme Basis Memorandum, Manpower and Machinery histograms and S-Curve
    • Following up the submission of contractors reports (in accordance to contractual requirement) and verifying the quality of inputs
    • Prepare graphical and numerical daily report based on work achieved and equipment delivered on site, as per senior project planner instructions
    • Coordinate schedule from multiple contractors and incorporate the information gathered into the overall project master schedule, including histogram analysis on a bi-weekly/monthly basis
    • Preparing / updating the construction KPI dashboard
    • Understand contractual matter, identify critical milestones and notifications
    • Track and monitor all site activities on a daily basis, and highlighting any deviations
    • Communicate with the team members about activities to be performed during the coming week
    • Analyze gaps between planned and actual progress; highlight areas of concern which required actions and recovery plan
    • Report project progress including inputs for: client Monthly Progress Report, Programme, S-Curve, internal project status reports, Critical Path Analysis, milestones related to cash flow, evaluation/preparation of internal and external extension of time (EoT) claims and look-ahead reports as per Senior Project Planner instructions

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Education: Formal Technical Qualification (Construction, Engineering, Project Management)
    • Experience: 3+ years of project planning and scheduling experience in projects involving procurement and construction.
    • Planning Tools Knowledge: Primavera, MS Projects, MS Office.
    • Sound understanding of multi-cultural environments
    • Fluent in English, spoken and other languages if needed or ideal
    • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
    • Valid driver's licence required.

    Senior O&M Technician (Release)

    • As a Senior O&M Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and performance optimisation of Release’s solar and battery energy assets across multiple sites and geographies.

    What you'll be doing

    In this role, you will take ownership of operational and maintenance activities across assigned plants, including:

    • Oversee day-to-day operational performance across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with safety, technical, and contractual requirements
    • Coordinate and drive preventive and corrective maintenance planning, execution, audits, and CMMS compliance activities
    • Monitor plant performance, alarms, and operational KPIs to maximise plant availability and performance targets
    • Lead fault identification, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution activities in collaboration with site teams and the Global Operations Centre
    • Act as the key operational interface between Release, clients, site teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure effective communication and issue escalation
    • Provide technical support and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational and maintenance performance
    • Support the training, mentoring, and capability development of site and client O&M teams
    • Ensure accurate reporting, incident management, safety compliance, and timely communication of plant performance and operational issues

    • Minimum 8 years' experience working on utility-scale solar PV plants
    • Minimum 8 years' experience in the operations and maintenance of solar PV assets
    • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be advantageous
    • Strong understanding of PV and BESS operations, maintenance practices, performance metrics, and troubleshooting methodologies
    • Proficiency in plant monitoring systems, data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and CMMS platforms, with advanced Microsoft Office skills
