    Artisan Electrician - TMM

    Job Description:

    • The Engineering Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) Artisan Electrician in the VUP area necessitates a suitably qualified incumbent who will be required to maintain and assist in the operation of TMM equipment and systems according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.

    Key Tasks:

    Your role will include but not limited:

    • Plan activities in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources as required.
    •  Assist in ensuring that TMM electrical equipment and electrical installations meet the required designs, installation and maintenance standards.
    • Ensure that all assessments of potential hazards for the operation of equipment and installations are undertaken in accordance with procedures.
    • Maintenance and repairs of all TMM electrical equipment in the underground, specifically with regards to the following: Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i), Long Hole Rigs (DL421, DL422i, DL432i & Rhino Machine), Cable Bolters (DS421, DS422i & DS412i), Roof Bolters (DS411), Maclean Bolter (946), LHD (LH410, LH517i & LH621i), Dump Trucks (TH430), TH540 & TH551i), Atlas Copco (M4C,ME7) Shotcrete (Normet), Manitou and Agicars etc.
    • Ensure fixed, mobile and transportable TMM electrical equipment associated with hot work or live testing, installed or operated are suitably certified in line with operational standards.
    • Ensure that equipment is suitable for use in the underground mine.
    • Ensure that the maintenance and overhaul of TMM electrical equipment installed and/or operated or intended to be installed and/or operated is in accordance with relevant standards.
    • Align with planned maintenance, including the maintenance of relevant records for all electrical equipment and electrical installations in the area of responsibility.
    • Adherence to policies and procedures.
    • Ensure effective communication to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays.
    • Upholding of safety, health and environmental standards to achieve ZERO HARM.
    • Training and development of subordinates.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with pure Mathematics and Physical Science
    • Relevant Trade Certificate Electrician
    • MQA – MV Switching Certificate
    • Valid EB / Code 8 Driver's License

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in TMM electrical maintenance in an underground mining environment.
    • Sound knowledge in the maintenance, repairs and fault finding of the following equipment: Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i), Long Hole Rigs (DL421, DL422i, DL432i & Rhino Machine), Cable Bolters (DS421, DS422i & DS412i), Roof Bolters (DS411), Maclean Bolter (946), LHD (LH410, LH517i & LH621i), Dump Trucks (TH430), TH540 & TH551i), Atlas Copco (M4C,ME7) Shotcrete (Normet), Manitou and Agicars etc.

    Diamond Future Smart Manager

    Job Description:

    • The context of the role is within the Technical engineering & strategy / strategic projects portfolio of the De Beers Technology; which will integrate and streamline in line with the De Beers Group Strategy, Upstream clients, project requirements, and technology trends & opportunities; focused on the sustainable provision and delivery of technology to the upstream operations of De Beers Group.
    • The purpose of the role is to lead novel strategic upstream technology initiatives to enable the Group to achieve production, cost effectiveness, efficiencies and improvements through technology, and ultimately the transition of De Beers’ operations and projects to Future Smart operations.

    Your role will include:

    Manage budget for area of responsibility.

    • Manage specialised team of direct (and indirect collaborating reports) to enable and execute on Upstream Technology Strategy and associated appropriate technology development pathways
    • Leads and develops the performance of the team in line with Anglo American’s performance management system and company values, in order to achieve objectives.
    • Identifies novel technology initiatives for leading mining/processing/control/operating procedures and methods across De Beers Group upstream
    • Interpret and understand De Beers and Upstream strategy together with Client requirements and opportunities
    • Undertakes analyse, synthesize and modelling of complex scenarios via simple model abstractions to provide insights between technology, operational-context and value to support and inform the De Beers Upstream Technology Strategy
    • Develop long term (Horizon 2 & Horizon 3) Technology Strategy framework and portfolio options and integrate into overall Upstream Technology Strategy
    • Communicates understanding and insights from analysis to Upstream Technology management to guide and inform Technology Strategy and appropriate technology development pathways
    • Conceptualise solutions and execute initiatives to solve Technology systems requirements to address challenges pertinent to the delivery of a diamond Future smart operation
    • Evaluates current mining/process/sampling sub systems and generate new innovative concepts that will replace current systems.
    • Executes technology development plans in a manner that seeks to maximise the synergy between functions producing consistent Technology deliverables.

    Qualifications:

    Formal qualifications:

    • 4yr Bachelors/Honors level degree (or equivalent with Engineering Sciences preferred)
    • Mining/ Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred

    Additional requirements:

    • Minimum of 12 years’ relevant mining/processing/extractive industry experience
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience at management level
    • Minimum of 5 years in Technology Development
    • Mining or earth moving mining equipment experience
    • GCC mines and works advantageous
    • Experience and proven track record in upstream mining and/or processing related technical and/or economic evaluation
    • Experience and proven track record in technology scanning, technology development, innovation pathways and knowledge sharing.
    • Computer simulation/modelling experience
    • Experience with automation and implementation of automation technology
    • Experience in financial evaluation and commercial principles
    • Experience and proven track record with technology development pathways, and associated schedules and risks
    • Experience in simulation/modelling of techno-economic scenarios including expert use of MS Excel for simulation or other modelling tool where appropriate
    • Sound knowledge and experience in typical upstream mining value-chain (with sound knowledge and experience in various upstream technology systems or components a distinct advantage)
    • Skill/experience in assimilating knowledge gained into appropriate reports/databases, and dissemination of insights/technology through technical reports and presentations.
    • Prioritise and structure own work & effectively manages own time in a largely unstructured role
    • Operational agility – recognises that the technology development and support environment requires a flexible and adaptable personality resilient to customer driven operational.

    Senior Eng Foreman

    Job Description:

    • As a Senior Electrical Foreman, you will be responsible for maintaining and assisting in the operation of electrical installations, equipment, and systems according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications. Your role will encompass both underground and surface fixed plant operations.

    Your role will include but not limited to:

    • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation and health, safety, environmental and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
    • Plan activities in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources as required.
    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of electrical infrastructure, equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements.
    • Perform electrical infrastructure and equipment over-inspection on work done by artisans and operators.
    • Ensure compliance to the business’ engineering planning standards, guidelines, specifications and best practices.
    • Co-ordinate electrical infrastructure and equipment installations and maintenance with internal and external clients and service providers to ensure the timeous allocation of resources and that due process is followed and required measures are taken to ensure execution takes place according to plan.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification
    • Trade Certificate: Electrical or Instrumentation qualification
    • Code B/Code 8 Driver’s License
    • A supervisory qualification is a requirement

    Role-specific knowledge & Experience:

    • 5 Years’ experience as an Electrical Foreman in the U/G and surface Electrical Maintenance Environment.  
    • With relative maintenance experience in maintaining U/G and surface Electrical Infrastructure.
    • Minimum of 5 years previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor / Foreman in the installation and maintenance environment of U/G and surface Electrical Infrastructure.
    • Experience in the following equipment:  winders, shaft systems, main ventilation fans, bulk air cooler (BAC) & fridge plant, pumps & conveyor belt starters, gulley box installations, mini subs, transformers, substation in underground and surface environment.  
    • Written and verbal communication skills.
    • Budgeting and cost control.
    • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Proficiency in SAP will be advantageous
