    Operators: Blending

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Materials and fluxes are collected, and homogeneity is maintained so that material blended on floor is according to charge calculator.
    • Silos are always full as required by arc furnace. Their material transfer to silos is defined and accurate, and stock levels are monitored. Charges are blended in time. Silos>1 overnight during weekdays, Silos>3 during weekends. Frequency of charge unavailability & working weekend 0%
    • Housekeeping standards are maintained high at smelter plant. All signs are conspicuously displayed, plant washed and stacking and storage standards.
    • Participation during stock count to ensure correct labelling and proper evaluation of units. No written-off bags found during stock count.
    • Ensures that the charge is blended according to the recipe to ensure that the melting can be obtained at the furnace.
    • Preparation of ITM’s for sampling through operating the crusher plants at the Smelter.
    • Waste management within the Smelter area.
    • Drives timeous and accurate reporting through production logs & performance feedback on shift basis.
    • Ensures that all by-products generated are weighed and sent for sampling for metal balance purposes.
    • Implements methods & suggestions from the process leader (i.e. waste reduction, productivity, and cost management.)
    • Ensure that there is full compliance with the SHEQ procedures for people and equipment and product
    • Ensure culture of working as a team to maximise blending outputs

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric qualification.
    • Up to 1 year experience in smelting operations.

    Operators: Warehousing and Receiving

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Ensure that all scales are calibrated timeously and tested daily.
    • Ensure that all material received is stored appropriately and labelled properly.
    • Ensure that material weight verifications are done appropriately.
    • Ensure that material movements within SLOCs is done optimally (Correct SLOC, stipulated times).
    • Ensure that the safety record is maintained at ZERO LTI, environmental standards complied with and SHEQ lifestyle is visible.
    • Operating a forklift for the receipt and offloading of customer deposits and stock movements between specified SLOCs.
    • Material storage and labelling for stock control purposes.
    • Ensure that Warehousing and Receiving Yard activities are performed within the prescribed quality standards and report any issues which may arise.
    • Ensure all equipment operate within specified parameters and report deviations/malfunctions timeously.
    • Ensure compliance to quality i.e., Optimum stacking and storage of material, material bag integrity (re-bagging), weight verifications (also ensuring that scales are always within calibration standards), optimum labelling of material.

    Operator: Smelter Sampling

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

    • Ensure the quality sampling of material are within the required time frame in accordance with established SOPs.
    • Perform essential administrative duties; capturing and processing of sampling data (LIMS).
    • Communicate operational information; production, equipment availability, SHEQ and general notices to peers and supervisors.
    • Continuously assess operational risks and implement approved corrective actions.
    • Equipment utilization.
    • Compliance to security protocols.
    • Compliance to Metal Assurance policies.
    • Supporting SHEQ initiatives.
    • Compliance to IT policies and ERP (LIMS) systems.
