Summary
The Structural Site Engineer will provide technical engineering support to the on-site construction management and supervision team to ensure that construction work complies with the engineering design including specifications, codes and standards.
The Site Engineer’s responsibilities shall also include assessing potential field problems and developing solutions as well as assisting with supervision of works contractors and Hatch field employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with technical bid analysis and recommendations as required
- Verify site data and conditions
- Manage and resolve cross-discipline clashes or conflicts when discovered in engineering deliverables (drawings and specifications)
- Conduct engineering design checks or produce engineering designs to aid answering technical queries during operational shut-down periods
- Assist with the Field Engineering section of the Construction Execution Plan
- As applicable, assist with constructability input and on-site monitoring of design, work scope, construction sequence, impacts to estimating and scheduling
- Review of Contractor CWP submittals including ITPs and Method Statements
- Provide technical assistance to QA/QC
- Review and approve QA test reports and documentation where required
- Provide technical assistance to Construction Supervision
- Review and verification of contractor’s monthly progress reports
- Manage field information requests and site design change procedures (RFI, FCR, FCN, ECN, SI)
- Develop, check, and distribute specifications for onsite purchases where required, such as temporary works or site generated purchases Review and monitor contractor pricing and assist the Contracts Administrator in the review and settlement of change orders and claims
- Review contractor supplied deliverables including as-built documentation
- Coordinate third party inspections in conjunction with consultants and other authorities
- Generate and/or check field sketches or red-line engineering deliverables
- Manage, control and maintain onsite drawings, files and registers
- Review contract documents for the particular area of responsibility and identify conflicts and recommend solutions
- Verify that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions as well as applicable regulatory requirements
- Perform technical review at substantial and final completions.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- Possesses sufficient field and designer engineering experience for the particular position (Senior Engineer)
- Understands the design and field execution processes of large scale EPCM projects
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for the particular area of the project under his/her domain
- Knowledge of construction means and methods including labor, material, equipment, cost and schedule requirements.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER: SECUNDA
Fulfilling the role as Construction Manager on the Fine Ash Dam 6 (FAD6) Project forming an integral part of the Sasol Group Technology Owners Management Team (OMT). The Employer intends to support the life extension of Secunda Operations facilities by constructing a new Fine Ash Dam being number six (FAD6). This will take the ash generated by Employers Operations in stages as FAD5 is being decommissioned. The construction of the project is underway and will be completed in various phases within and adjacent to the operating ash disposal facilities.
Construction Management
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct constructability studies and convert into constructability reports (review sessions and approvals with Employer representatives).
- FLCM ‘Spatial Operational Committee Applications’ including renewals on a annual basis (request, present to Sasol Spatial and obtain required approvals).
- Select, schedule and coordinate Principle and Sub-Contractors for the FAD6 Project
- Comply with legal requirements, Sasol building and safety specifications and procedures and other regulations

Summary
The Lead Ammonia Process Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services covering all project stages including pre-feasibility, concept, FEED and some detailed engineering for both minor and major projects. The work will have a focus on ammonia production projects but will be varied and stimulating, covering greenfield developments, brownfield upgrades and operations support. The scope of works will be both in the oil & gas sector as well as the growing energy transition sector.
The Lead Ammonia Process Engineer will oversee and guide the development of process engineering deliverables ensuring they meet the project’s scope, are delivered on schedule and budget, and meet Hatch’s quality standards. The role requires the engineer to develop solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. In addition, the Lead Process Engineer will liaise with other disciplines to ensure the process intent of the plant is maintained throughout the design life.

- 10+ years of professional experience in ammonia production engineering, ideally with a background in working for consultancy organizations executing conceptual, FEED, PMC and EPCM scopes.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering from a recognized University.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Highly numerate with a good working knowledge of the company and international codes and standards, including API, ISO, ASME, ISA, Shell DEPs, BP GPs etc.
- Experience in industry standard software such as HYSYS, Unisim, Flare System Analyzer, Pipesim, Phast, Flaresim, etc.
- Experience in energy transition scopes including hydrogen, CCUS and decarbonization.
- A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline would be an advantage.
