    Team Leader x4 (Limpopo)

    PURPOSE

    • This role requires effective leadership, clear communication, and a strong understanding of tailings operations which are essential  in executing the tailings deposition plan by planning daily activities, organizing resources, assigning tasks, by guiding the team to meet operational targets. The role focuses on managing risks, addressing deviations, and ensuring all work is performed safely and in line with environmental and operational standards..

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Planning

    • Select the appropriate equipment for each task.
    • Ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained.
    • Confirm that emergency equipment is available and in good condition.
    • Deploy the workforce effectively.
    • Execute Tailings Dam Activities
    • Dress the walls.
    • Construct catwalk and platforms.
    • Operate catchment paddock penstocks.
    • Clean solution trenches.
    • Monitor the flow of underdrains.
    • Measure and control slurry densities.
    • Monitor water depth, inlet flow at penstock, pond, and bypass system.
    • Complete the daily log and shift report.
    • Complete the safety declaration.

    Leading

    • Train, coach, and motivate team members.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors.
    • Ensure employees are aware of hazards and risks.
    • Apply fair and consistent disciplinary measures when necessary.
    • Address employees’ grievances. Promptly and professionally.

    Team Management

    • Monitor staff performance.
    • Manage employees’ time sheets and attendance records.
    • Ensure equipment are used correctly and stored properly.
    • Enforce compliance with written safe work procedures.
    • Report and record all incidents accurately.
    • Lead by example to build a disciplined and values-driven team environment

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12.
    • Skills Program in Slimes Reclamation or Tailings Dam Operation.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 2 years experience as a General Worker.

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Effective communication skills.
    • Knowledge of financial and cost management.
    • Strong time management skills.
    • Ability to understand and interpret written instructions and reports.
    • Demonstrate experience in leading operational teams with discipline, efficiency, and a focus on behavioural compliance

    2x Earthworks Chargehand (North West)

    PURPOSE

    • To coordinate operations and oversee employees to ensure the successful completion of a project at a construction site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Leadership

    • Supervising and leading the team.
    • Ensuring the safety of the team members.
    • Communicating the job to and with the team.
    • Ensuring team compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Planning and Scheduling

    • Translating general work requirements into a prioritised work plan for the team.
    • Periodically review daily goals to meet the forecasted production.
    • Work with the team to overcome work related challenges.

    Quality Control

    • Recognising, addressing and resolving issues/problems among or between employees in the team.
    • Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all team members by fostering a positive attitude among all team members.

    Administration

    • Reporting on work progress
    • Keep disciplinary reports.
    • Daily time and attendance
    • Recommending workforce actions such as recruitment, releasing, promotions and discipline.

    Safety

    • Facilitating mandatory safety toolbox meetings.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Earthworks working experience.

    Site Technician (North West)

    PURPOSE

    • This position exists to act as the link between the Site Manager and production operations, ensuring that project activities are carried out efficiently.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Functional Management

    • Focuses on applying technical expertise within a project.
    • Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
    • Ensure construction activities follow engineering requirements.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Give inputs to draft programme requirements.
    • Identify and highlight delays and their causes to the site manager.
    • Generate, track and provide daily costing reports to the site manager.

    Risk Management & Compliance

    • Identify changes in work scope in the project plan and highlight it to the relevant site manager.
    • Evaluate and analyse with the project team, risks and issues compromising project results, and develop plans to mitigate them.
    • Keeps the site manager fully aware of potential risks to the project completion date.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/External)

    • Maintain working relationship with project management team across all levels, to ensure accurate and effective data is provided timeously.

    Operations & Project Management

    • Coordinate and monitor subcontractors and construction workers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
    • Provide technical advice and troubleshoot problems on-site as they arise.
    • Ensure materials and equipment are available and coordinated timeously.

    SHEQ Management

    • Ensure all work is executed within SHEQ standards.
    • Inspect work to ensure it meets standards and specifications.
    • Ensure workers follow safety regulations.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum: Diploma in Civil Engineering.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Site Technician across various areas of construction projects, with a full understanding of the scope of a construction project.
    • Experience in planning and setting up construction projects is preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably within a construction environment at Site Technician level.

    • Solid understanding of the Mining and Construction Industries with specific emphasis on Fraser Alexander Construction business.
    • Knowledge and skills in construction management.
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

    Site Agent (North West)

    PURPOSE

    • Responsible for delivering small to medium projects, or sections of larger projects, in line with safety, time, quality, and cost targets. Acts as the link between the Project Manager and site teams, overseeing all on-site activities, coordinating work, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, to achieve set goals.
    • Report to Project Manager on operational and project performance.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Provide inputs to estimating department on tender response structuring, site visits. May be involved with finalisation on an ad hoc basis.

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG Responsibility

    • Be fully aware of the content and impact of new contracts i.e. general conditions of contract, special conditions, specifications, drawings; be aware of relevant legislation relating to the contract - as related to site operational execution and governance.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/ External) 

    • Maintain working relationship with head office structures with regards to support and professional services (HR, Safety, Quality, Plant, Survey, Commercial, Finance, IT, QS), in support of site deliver.

    Operations & Project Management

    • Responsible for project execution on a specific site - within budget, scope, timelines, productivity and SHEQ standards.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree or BTech in Civil Engineering.
    • Project Management or Management qualifications would be advantageous, along with relevant short courses in construction, commercial, financial, and site administration disciplines.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on construction projects in a Section Engineer or Site Engineer role.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role, overseeing foremen, labour, and plant resources.
    • Proven hands-on experience coordinating site activities, including resource allocation, productivity management, problem solving, and planning and executing construction project sections.

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Solid understanding of the Mining and Construction industry, including Fraser Alexander operations.
    • Strong project and construction management capability.
    • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
    • Computer skills (MS Office), as well as planning software such as CCS, PrimaVera, MS Projects.
    • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Reading plans and drawings.
