    Section Surveyor, D1, KRL019/24GS - Emalahleni

    The role:

    The role is overseeing several survey teams and functions by being a leader that plans their daily activities, organizes manpower and equipment and controls the teams output to clients. Assists the Survey Manager with quality control of survey data and releasing of correct and accurate reports. Establish directional control and measurement of volumes in the workings of the mine, opencast or underground.

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Responsible for ensuring that request for surveying and maps received from clients are attended to in time and executed efficiently and safely.
    • Taking over the duties of senior surveyors during their absence to ensure continuous operation of the survey functions.
    • Using CAD and volumetric design software approved by the business and do quality checks on 3D survey models built and updated by senior surveyors and surveyors in the department.
    • Do check calculations to verify the volumes and tonnages stored in the survey database by Senior Surveyors and Surveyors do comply with standards.
    • Compile and verify weekly and month end reports before submitting to Survey Manager for endorsement.
    • Ensure all members of the teams under his or her responsibility comply with all safety requirements of the mine and the Mine Health and Safety Act.
    • Keep inventory and monitor condition of survey equipment and vehicles assigned to survey teams.
    • Be a team leader responsible to build team spirit, foster customer relations, resolve conflict and maintain order and discipline of survey teams.

    Requirements:

    • BSc, BTech, National Diploma, National Higher Diploma in Mine Surveying
    • Chamber of Mines (CoM) Advanced Surveying Certificate
    • 50% ticket complete of the MSCC, must have passed legislation subject
    • Registration at minimum level of Mine surveyor (PLATO/SAGC)
    • Membership of IMSSA
    • 5 Years’ experience as Section Surveyor
    • Ability to operate survey equipment accurately and safely
    • Advanced operation of CAD software
    • Ability to build 3D surfaces and calculate volumes from the surfaces
    • Measurement of contractor volumes and agreements with contractors
    • Mine Rehabilitation processes and the associated volume and area reports
    • Checking survey data into and retrieving survey, planning and geology data from a database
    • Survey principles & mining methods
    • Relevant legislation
    • Survey software
    • Computer literacy in MS Office & SAP
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession of or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Fitter UG, C3, NDC121/23GS - Standerton

    The Role:

    • Is responsible for safe maintenance and repair of equipment and machines in order to ensure the availability and reliability thereof
    • Is responsible for engineering technical compliance
    • Perform inspections and work in accordance with the Mine Standards and Procedures and the Mine Health and Safety Act and regulations
    • Recording of inspections, maintenance and repairs conducted to equipment on checklists and job cards
    • Be able to identify faults and repair defects without supervision
    • Maintain good housekeeping in the area of responsibility
    • Ensuring that all planning and productivity requirements are safely achieved
    • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to perform in a safe and controlled manner
    • Must be prepared to work shifts, overtime and standby duties

    Requirements:

    • Recognised Fitter Trade Test Certificate

    Internal Candidates

    • Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) & Science, minimum E symbol with relevant two N2 Trade related subjects as per MQA guideline or N2 with four relevant trade related subjects as per MQA guideline

    External Candidates

    • Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) & Science, minimum E symbol with four N2 relevant trade related subjects as per MQA guideline
    • Have sound knowledge of MHSA, safety systems and a high regard for safety, regulations and standards
    • Proven excellent safety record
    • Display good understanding of equipment & tools and uses thereof
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must be able to speak, read and write in English
    • Be able to cope effectively with pressure in a production environment, be innovative and a self-starter
    • Be able to work in a team, carry out given instructions and give feedback effectively
    • Be able to identify faults and repair defects without supervision
    • Valid K53 driver’s license with own transport
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

    Advantageous:

    • Underground technical experience
    • At least 2 years post-trade experience as a Fitter
    • Experience on conveyor systems, pumps, crushing and screening equipment, compressors and hydraulic systems
    • 10SC22 Shuttle cars, Roof bolters, Feeder breaker (Churston and FLSmidth), Dimako section transformers, section standards, conveyor belt experience
    • Good knowledge of U/G machinery: Komatsu 12HM31AAA – Continuous Miner, Komatsu
    • Safety & Risk Management Course (S2)
