    Onsetter - Barberton Fairview Mine

    Description

    • Onsetter must have knowledge of shaft operations
    • Responsible for conducting station inspection
    • Responsible for controlling the amount of people loading into the conveyance
    • Responsible for slinging activities to underground
    • Responsible for station cleaning and control of material cars
    • Transport employees, materials and explosives if required
    • Assess and manage health and safety hazards and associated risks
    • Continuously monitor equipment failure and efficiency and report to Shaft Foreman
    • Reporting of all incidents and / or near incidents.
    • Participation on Safety related campaigns and initiatives.
    • Conduct safe behavioural observations
    • Ensure efficient housekeeping of equipment (skip, conveyance, and all station levels underground) according to departmental requirements
    • Operate equipment (skip, conveyance) related to the workstream according to work requirements and departmental procedures

    Requirements

    • Grade 10 qualification
    • Valid Onsetter’s Certificate
    • Minimum of (2) years Shaft experience
    • Must have Supervisory skills
    • Ability to read and write English
    • Ability to communicate with people on different levels
    • Valid Certificate of physical fitness
    • Driver’s license

    Underground Safety Officer

    Description

    • Conduct inspections at the various sites
    • Conduct incident and accident investigations according to safety protocols and corporate requirements
    • Participate in safety audits including all logistical arrangements
    • Facilitate Risk and Change Management process
    • Planned inspections 30, 45, 90 days
    • Co-ordinate safety meetings
    • Provide statistics to management

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 qualification
    • National Diploma in Safety and/or Engineering management will be advantageous

    • Blasting Certificate Metalliferous Mining
    • COMSOC 1 & 2 qualification
    • SAMTRAC qualification
    • Accident Investigation qualification
    • Vertical and Incline Shafts safety experience
    • TMM and RBE risk management knowledge
    • Risk assessment techniques application
    • Accident/Incident investigation experience. (Route Cause)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Computer Literacy

    Chief Safety Officer

    Description

    • Deliver qualitative SHREQ advice to line managers in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and applicable national and international legislation.
    • Facilitate the development and implementation of SHREQ management systems, exposure control programs and measures.
    • Analyse, evaluate and assess SHREQ-activities, incidents, non-conformances and make recommendations.
    • Reporting on both lead/proactive and lag/reactive indicators with regards to SHREQ management.
    • Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of SHREQ systems that contribute to safe and productive environment.
    • Budget planning and preparation.
    • Manage expenditure (working and capital).
    • Identify and realise cost reduction initiatives.
    • Maintain and implement SHREQ systems to ensure continual improvement in SHREQ performance.
    • Ensure continuous improvement of SHREQ systems through integration, optimisation and maintenance of SHREQ systems.

    Requirements

    • NQF 5 (Higher Certificate) or NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) qualification in Safety Management or related tertiary Qualification
    • COMSOC 1 & 2/ SAMTRAC / MINSOC 1 & 2
    • ISO 9001  / ISO 14001/ OHSAS 18001
    • Blasting Certificate will be advantageous
    • Recognised assessor qualification will be an advantage
    • Minimum 4 year’s experience in a mining environment of which 1 should have been at supervisory level
    • Computer literacy. (Excel, Word)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Report writing and presentation skills
    • Experience in safety statistical data capturing

    ER Manager

    Description

    • Develop a sound operational Employee Relations strategy
    • Advise and facilitate the application of Labour Relations practices and procedures with respect to disciplinary cases and grievances.
    • Provide relevant and timeous information to facilitate business decision making.
    • Monitor and advise on substantive conditions of employment and related rights and obligations in the organisation.
    • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
    • Mange union representatives’ (internal and external) enquiries and issues.
    • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
    • Provide support to Business Units with respect to ER governance matters.
    • Monitor and advise on substantive conditions of employment and related rights and obligations in the organisation.
    • Represent the company at certain disciplinary hearings and in labour conciliation / arbitration processes.
    • Establish basic principles of evidence in mediation.
    • Conduct referrals in labour conciliation matters.
    • Conduct pre-conciliation (in terms of CCMA rules) and conciliation process.
    • Conduct a pre-arbitration (in terms of the CCMA rules).
    • Consider Advisory awards in labour disputes.
    • Consider and review arbitration awards in labour disputes.
    • Write closing arguments.
    • Manage and conduct the arbitration process.
    • Consider condonation, rescission and variation applications
    • Facilitate and coordinate disciplinary investigations (in conjunction with Line Management)
    • Maintain and update the disciplinary systems and records
    • Compile ER Reports
    • Co-ordinate transformation forums, i.e. Employment Equity Committee and Future Forum.
    • Build and maintain healthy and transparent relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
    • Establish and maintain communication structures and channels for information sharing.
    • Establish employee relations framework in line with company ER strategy
    • Engagement and ongoing communication with union stakeholders.
    • Facilitate union negation processes at operational level.
    • Resolve stakeholder queries or escalate when unresolved. 

    Requirements

    • NQF 7 (National Diploma / Degree) in Human Resources Management/ Labour Law or Behavioural Sciences.
    • NQF 8 Qualification Advantageous
    • At least 8 years’ experience as a Human Resources Manager/Employee Relations Manager, especially within the Mining Industry
    • Experience in collective bargaining, including wage negotiations and other consultation processes
    • Extensive knowledge of labour laws
    • In-depth knowledge of CCMA and other dispute resolution mechanism processes
    • Computer Literate
    • Valid Certificate of physical fitness

    Millwright

    Description

    • Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all plant equipment, electrically and mechanically, on-site as well as off-site.
    • Responsible to execute maintenance and repairs according to the planning of all electrical and mechanical maintenance categories, planned- and unplanned, including breakdowns, as allocated by the Maintenance Foreman.
    • Assist with additional maintenance at the plant, as required by the Maintenance Foreman.
    • Responsible for the maintenance aspects of all plant equipment as described in the company asset register, specifically electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance.
    • Ability to work under pressure, achieving maintenance planning milestones and deliverables achieving time and budget expectations.

    Requirements

    • N3 or Grade 12 qualification
    • Relevant trade certificate (MIETTB or Olifantsfontein registration)
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Millwright
    • Must be able to read and understand Electrical and Mechanical drawings.
    • Valid certificate of physical fitness
    • Ability to read and write in English
    • Ability to communicate with people on different levels
    • Valid driver’s license
