    Key Responsibilities:

    Editorial Leadership

    • Leading all editorial content relevant to Johannesburg and Pretoria, making sure it is engaging, high-quality, and on-brand.
    • Build and update an editorial calendar about what is best, most important, and most exciting in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
    • Manage, mentor and assign work to a team of freelance writers and contributors.
    • Edit and proofread articles, for clarity, according to fact, voice, and consistent high editorial standards.

    Content Strategy & Production

    • Create content strategies that reflect the most recent trends, events and venues that would be appreciated by our target audience.
    • Work in close collaboration with the editorial and promotions teams to guarantee that content is configured for both SEO and audience engagement.
    • Write, commission, and edit an array of content types including all-inclusive travel guides, restaurants and venue write-ups, interviews, and lifestyle features.

    • Use your in-depth, close knowledge of a local Johannesburg and Pretoria culture, food, and lifestyle to put together content that is authentic and engaging.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A diploma or degree in Journalism or a related field.

     Experience & Skills

    • At least 5 years of editorial experience in travel, lifestyle, or food journalism, with a strong portfolio.
    • Proven ability to manage writers and freelancers, ensuring high-quality content.
    • In-depth personal knowledge about Johannesburg and Pretoria food, culture, and lifestyle; you aren't merely acquainted; you're a true local.
    • Excellent English skills with an engaging, detail-oriented writing style.
    • Strong editorial judgment and experience creating content for digital audiences.
    • Organised, deadline-driven, and collaborative team player.

    Digital Sub-Editor

    ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Edit content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, usage, consistency, and brand voice and tone across all KMR radio station digital properties and KMR communications. Clarity, accuracy, and consistency is key.
    • Crosscheck references and data.
    • Review and occasionally rewrite internal documents and communication.
    • Collaborate and train team members on writing styles and best practice.
    • Ensure adherence to editorial style guides and brand guidelines within all content.
    • Work closely with SEO Specialist to help improve SEO rankings.
    • Work closely with Editorial Manager and Station Digital Leads to improve website targets - PVs, UBs, Time on Site etc.
    • Assist in implementing content strategies.
    • Ensure content team adherence to processes and procedures.
    • Identify content trends on digital initiatives drawing on your knowledge of copywriting, video, graphic design, social media channel nuances, and audience behaviour.
    • Understand which content or standards need to be adjusted, repackaged, or eliminated.
    • Expand the platforms’ audience and increase awareness of the brands.
    • Monitor analytics tools for reporting and to build upon content which is performing well.
    • Work with the radio stations to drive product optimisation in terms of user experience.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Jounalism Degree / Communication Degree or an equivalent degree/diploma.
    • Fluent in both English and Afrikaans

     SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    • Proficient in sub-editing (English & Afrikaans), CMS, SEO, and media law.
    • Strong editorial judgment with a keen eye for detail and engaging content creation.
    • Excellent communication and time management skills, capable of handling multiple projects.
    • Collaborative team player, adaptable to hybrid work setups, and proactive in self-development.

    Social Media Manager

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and lead Time Out's social media strategy and oversee all brand social media channels in order to increase website audience and revenue growth with the Marketing, Publishing and Promotions teams.
    • Daily social media scheduling of online content on Time Out South Africa's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc).
    • Improve engagement and online reputation management of all social media channels for Time Out South Africa in partnership with the relevant team members.
    • Lead and manage Time Out South Africa social media marketing campaigns with relevant teams.
    • Work with the Promotions Head and Content Director to execute commercial social media campaigns for Time Out South Africa and Time Out South Africa’s clients.
    • Coordinate and execute on-the-ground social media coverage for activations, events, venues etc in conjunction with the digital team.
    • Compile monthly social media content plans.
    • Share social media trends with the Editorial team and ensure that the team executes to your expectations and that of Time Out South Africa.
    • Lead social media training and development of new team members.
    • Support Editorial team and have a good understanding and knowledge of Time Out South Africa's digital platforms (website, podcasts, special projects etc).
    • Assist and execute on all growth projects/products.
    • Work with copywriters and designers to ensure content is informative and appealing.
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales and Promotions and Business Development teams.
    • Keep abreast of the latest social media best practices and technologies and share this with the relevant teams.
    • Monitor user engagement and inform Editorial teams on possible User Generated Content.
    • Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network.
    • Provide constructive feedback to the Editorial teams on best practices on social media.
    • Support and execute other Time Out South Africa special projects.
    • Manage a network of social media co-ordinator freelancers in various cities across South Africa.
    • Managing the budget allocated for social media campaigns and ensuring expenditures remain within budgetary limits.
    • Monitoring and maintaining the company or brand's reputation on social media by addressing negative comments according to brand guidelines.

    Junior Content Producer

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Upload and manage content from writers, including articles, reviews, and guides.
    • Input and update information for venues, events, and other content as required.
    • Maintain and build the image library, ensuring all images are correctly catalogued and properly tagged.
    • Work closely with the editorial and content teams to ensure accurate, timely publication of all materials.
