Job Description:

• Providing support to internal clients
• Primary function is to extract grain samples from trucks and lorries with a double barrel probe.
• Extract grain & grain product samples from bags with a hand probe.
• Ensuring adherence to internal business processes, procedures and policies
• Assist with general tasks When insects are found to assist the Assessor in sieving for insects.
• To assist the Assessor in drawing samples from loading grain products.
• The carrying of samples from trucks and lorries to the inspection room for analysing.
• Assist the Assessor with the inspection of grain products.
• Any other ad hoc functions under supervision of the Assessor to assist him/her with their duties.
• Assist with calibrations: - place probes into fruit during COT shipments.
• See that the inspection room and other rooms which were used, and apparatus are cleaned after inspections.

Job Requirements

• A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the PPECB as a Technical Assistant on the Grain sector
• Certificates in computer training would be advantageous
• Proven track record of taking ownership enabled by responsible and accountable behaviour

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Applying roles in Inspection, Cold Chain, Food Safety and Export Certification related to the specified geographical area.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Agricultural Product Standards Act.

• Inspection and certification of perishable products.
• Inspection of the handling, storage and transport of perishable products.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Perishable Products Export Control Board Act.

Job Requirements

• A National Diploma in Agriculture or related field of study
• Completed AETP qualification
• Knowledge, understanding and experience of all inspection services relevant to the specified geographical area.
• Competency and/or exposure of product inspection in the listed products will be advantageous: Maize, Citrus, Avocados or Minor products.
• Experience in various cold chain functions related to the specified geographical area, in particular container loading will be advantageous
• Operational planning; training and organizing skills. 
• Computer Literate.
• Experience on Titan 2.0 will be advantageous.

• Knowledge & experience in various cold chain functions (Container inspection, Normal & Cold treatment container loading, temperature monitoring, terminal monitoring etc.) will be an advantage. 
• Minimum 65 credits that is, 50 cold chain credits for technical skills & 15 credits for successful completion of I-Thrive for soft skills.
