    Presentation Scheduler (Cape Town CBD)

    Specific Tasks and Outcomes

    Broadcast Management System Scheduling  

    • Creating an accurate daily transmission schedule.
    • Maintaining the final schedule and the distribution of it to on air users both internal and external.

    Stakeholder Liaison

    • Liaising with external departments for any programmes, promo discrepancies, late start times and outstanding material.
    • Liaising with the Commercial Time Sales Departments for all commercial scheduling, outstanding material and over sells.
    • Communicating all schedule and broadcast responsibilities to FCC.
    • Building, supporting and maintaining interpersonal and team relationships to ensure a stable working environment and achievement of team objectives

    Branding Management 

    • Implementing promotion planning and meeting contractual agreements.
    • Scheduling channel branding.
    • Viewing and scheduling of interstitial programming, channel branding and promos.

    Schedule / Playlist Management 

    • Identifying, prioritising and dealing with issues affecting the broadcast, proactively, in a timely and professional manner by implementing the appropriate solution.

    Key Performance Indicator 1

    • Comply with Company Policies and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures, methods and workflows.

    • Accurate schedules must be created, finalised, and downloaded across a multi-channel platform, on a daily basis as per the roster.

    Key Performance Indicator 3

    • On-air marketing must be scheduled as per the Priority playout grid sent by the On-air media strategist, which will ensure our target audiences are reached.

    • The schedule must be efficiently managed, and all changes and discrepancies are completed before each download.

    • Oversee the transmission schedules after hours by being on call should there be any issues regarding the playlist and resolving it before broadcast.

    • Ensure that communication is detailed and clear with relevant stakeholders who have an impact on the broadcast.

    • Must be able to build, support and maintain interpersonal and team relationships to ensure a stable working environment and achievement of objectives.

    Camera and Lens Technician (JHB North)

    Description

    • As the Camera and Lens Technician you would be required to maintain and service all camera equipment and ensure all such equipment is in perfect working order. The task includes fault finding and repairing and the testing of the camera equipment.

    Camera Service and Repairing

    • Conduct camera first line servicing.
    • Test camera equipment.
    • Conduct fault finding on camera equipment.
    • Repair faulty/damaged camera equipment.
    • Document the test/fault finding/repair process (production/job/date/photo/serial number/hospital status).
    • Communicate status of equipment with rentals and office systems.
    • Source quotes for spare parts and draft purchase order.
    • Update hospital/ready for use status once repair is complete.
    • Procure spare parts for repairs and refurbishments.
    • Complete job cards and ensuring that the costing is billed to the correct department.

    Lens Servicing and Repairing 

    • First line lens servicing in line with stipulated requirement.
    • Assessment of lens, determining level of repair required. 

    Quality Control 

    • Ensure that all gear complies with the manufacturers service and safety specifications. 

    Reporting 

    • Prepare damage and technical reports for client insurance and/or our insurance

    Graphic Designer (JHB North)

    Description

    • The individual in the role is required to create accurate and visually appealing graphics for on-air and online/social media platforms.

    Design Graphics

    • Create graphics requested by Output team.
    • Ensure graphics are in line with the Channel’s style guide.
    • Conceptualise new ideas for a redesign, and/or long-term projects.
    • Take ownership of new ideas and implement them from concept to the final product.
    • Pitch graphic ideas for story analysis and for new shows in line with the Channel’s style guide.
    • Check all graphics for accuracy before they are published.

    Conceptual/ Innovative/ Creative

    • Create unique/original designs, using the tools available, within the time constraints of a deadline.
    • Complete and understand requirements by completing the brief using creative skills.
    • Be proactive by designing/creating new and fresh concepts, that are either new, enhances or improves our existing graphics.
    • Ability to sell a concept and ideas.
    • Prepare for upcoming events in advance.
    • Ability to work in a team when creating graphics for upcoming events.

    Vision Mixer (JHB North)

    Description

    • The incumbent would be responsible for mixing all elements on-air and off-air for all studio productions, live and pre-recorded, as well as special projects and outside broadcasts as might be required from time to time, and to assist the Technical Director with the visual and technical look of the production.

    Interpersonal and team relationships

    Budget Compliance

    • Comply with work rules, standards and methods. Take care to minimise waste.

    Technical Operations

    • Check desk if everything is working and all relevant elements is loaded for production and report any irregularities  to engineering.
    • Rebuild effects if they are not running properly.
    • Create special effects such as multiple boxed pictures, via the vision desk as per production requirements.
    • Ensure that the keys are assigned to the correct graphical elements.
    • Ensure all relevant elements are loaded.

    Mixing

    • View different types of images from a variety of sources, i.e. pictures from several cameras, digital video effects, graphics and outside broadcast materials.
    • Under instructions from the Technical Director , selecting the required images and combining them, ensuring a smooth transition between shots – this involves ‘cutting’, ‘mixing’ and ‘wiping’.
    • Create and rebuild special effects for outside broadcast and special projects.

    Supporting Technical Director

    • Stand in for Technical Director when required and ensure with the Director a smooth technical and visual production.
    • Cut between sources independently or as directed by the Technical Director.
    • Display relevant images on the set monitors and the video wall using the relevant house style.
    • Ability to troubleshoot during live broadcasts.

    Requirements

    Intern: Marketing Intelligence & Planning

    Description

    • The Intern is required to support the forecasting & planning of schedules and packages for television.

    Planning

    • The Intern will deliver the following during the internship:
    • Accurate planning of spot plans on Transmit with a 24hr turnaround time.
    • Accurately planning tracks and providing updates on all CPP/ROS deals weekly.
    • Evaluating, comparing and providing target market alternatives to clients on a daily basis.
    • Evaluating and analysing overnight ratings with the specific objectives and accurately forecast future audience ratings on a daily basis.
    • Providing accurate post campaigns, analyses for clients and offering accurate feedback on performance on a daily basis with a 24hr turnaround time.
    • Timeously providing the Marketing Intelligence team with information regarding CPP deals, needed for negotiations and reviews, when required.

    Marketing Intelligence

    The Intern will deliver the following during the internship:  

    • Understanding research and analysing data using specialist industry resources.
    • Receiving, understanding, analysing and assisting with making industry research available to relevant sales staff and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders.
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns in order to inform future campaigns.
    • Monitoring, tracking and analysing all competitor activity.
    • Identifying target audience/s and analysing their characteristics, behaviour and media habits.

    ENG Camera Operator (JHB North)

    Description

    • The individual in the role is required to choose and assemble the correct equipment to electronically gather video/stills and record audio maintaining picture quality in relation to the channels broadcast standards.

    Filming

    • Filmi news events and record audio material to be edited and packaged for news broadcasts.
    • Plan and develop the visual presentation of the story, in conjunction with the Input Editor or reporter assigned to the story.
    • Ensure the principles of visual story telling are applied through aesthetically pleasing and technically correct compositions, angles and camera movements and making sure to deliver images with the correct exposure and colour saturation.
    • Ensure the correct use of lighting and sound recording techniques in accordance with prescribed broadcast standards.
    • Conduct onsite interviews by asking probing questions that are in line with the story brief.
    • Being available and being prepared should the need arise to do a live crossing in front of the camera. In extreme cases bureaus/deployments where there is no Reporter.
    • From time to time, you will be required to operate in a multi camera environment, live or prerecorded and outside broadcast.

    Live Events/Outside Broadcast

    • Film live events using the Live U or any other live equipment.
    • Ensure steady and controlled camera movements while filming live events as per broadcast standards and guidelines.
    • Ensure camera is set up timeously and ready to stream visuals as and when required.
    • Flag any possible technical problems timeously.

    Editing

    • Edit video and audio news stories filmed on locations.
    • Deliver edited and/ or raw materials from locations to the studio or to bureaus as instructed.
    • Edit to script and voice stories when required to do so (only in extreme cases those working from bureaus).

    Maintenance

    • Maintain the ENG kit assigned and ensuring that the necessary camera checks have been performed to ensure that it is in a working condition for the duration of the shoot.
    • Test all cables including LiveU cables before leaving the office.
    • Ensure that your equipment and vehicles are clean at all times and reporting any faults on the vehicle or your kit.

    Multiskilled Designer

    Motion Graphic Design

    • Prepare and create animations and graphics on air toolkits for all the brands across the channel.
    • Design and illustrate concepts to create presentations and storyboards according to briefs.
    • Animating in 2D and 3D and animating basic characters as and when required.

    Graphic Design

    • Determine the client's business objectives and requirements.
    • Estimate the time required to complete the work and provide quotes for client. Develop design briefs that suit the client's purpose.
    • Produce new ideas, concepts and develop interactive design through creative thinking. Present finalized ideas and concepts to internal stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print. Commission illustrators and photographers.

    Creative Designer

    • Design and produce creative materials that support clients' consumer and business to business events and experiential initiatives, effectively articulating their ideas both visually and verbally.
    • Work in collaboration with Creative Director to take the client's written or spoken ideas and turn them into images, layouts and other visual designs.

    Print Preparation

    • Prepare files for print and interactive development.

    Quality Assurance

    • Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data.
    • Ensure the quality assurance standards and industry best practices are consistently applied to ensure all creative work is of the highest quality.
    • Proofread to produce accurate and high-quality work.
    • Ensure all briefs or reports are executed correctly and updated as required. Ensure that all graphics templates comply with broadcast standards.
    • Ensure that all documentation is organized, understood and accessible to all departments.
