    Deputy Manager Nurisng PNA8 - Customer Care

    Requirements :

    • Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council(SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • Degree or Diploma in Nursing Administration will be an added advantage. A minimum of nine (9) years appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a professional nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
    • At least five (5) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience as an Assistant Manager Nursing in Quality Assurance programmes including managing Customer Care Programmes.

    Duties :

    • Provide leadership within the Sub-Directorate in the implementation of the Departmental Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan (APP). Develop operational plans in line with the APP.
    • Provide guidance in the process of strengthening Quality Assurance program of reducing complaints and achieving positive patient experience of care in health establishments by coordinating and supporting the facility managers.
    • Support health establishments in development, implementation and monitoring of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) aimed at reducing complaints and achieving positive patient experience of care. Develop policies, guidelines and indicators with regard to CCS and PEC.
    • Promote compliance and implementation of the National Guideline to Manage CCS in Health Sector of South Africa and National Guideline on Conducting PEC Surveys in Public Health Establishments guideline, and Provincial SOPs. Support health establishments in the investigation of priority complaints, conducting redress meetings and write reports.
    • Collate monthly, quarterly and annual Quality Assurance reports from health establishments and consolidate into a comprehensive Provincial reports.
    • Analyze statistics and utilize information to plan and institute measures for improvement. Facilitate/coordinate relevant trainings on Customer Care programs. Monitor compliance with Customer Care indicators as per Annual Performance Plan. Monitor compliance with standard of practice and conduct supervisory support visits to institutions.

    Registrar [Medical] - Public Health Medicine

    Requirements :

    • Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and MBChB certificate, Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa for Independent Practice, Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. Knowledge about registrar programme in Public Health Medicine as stipulated on the CMSA website and Departmental website.

    Duties :

    • The incumbent will rotate at accredited training sites to gain practical exposure and work experience in the practice of Public Health Medicine over 4 years.
    • Rotations will be for 6 months at a registered site supervised by a public health medicine specialist. Sites registered for training include GDoH Hospitals, District Health services, National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), and National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) and the WHO.

Coordinate the Quality Assurance programs: Support and implement Customer care programs (Waiting times, PEC, Customer care training & implementation of Batho Pele Principle). Assist with the facilitation of the implementation of NCS (RNS) & 6 Ministerial priorities including IHRM.
    • Coordinates the development and implementation of QIPs, Implement complaint management system, Management of Patient Safety Incidents. Participate in clinical audit and clinical risk management.
    • Conduct training of employees on Quality Assurance matters. Compile and submit reports on due time. Communicate with all stakeholders, external and internal customers about Quality Assurance matters. Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

    Medical Specialist Grade 1 - 3 Public Health Medicine

    Requirements :

    • Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and MBChB or equivalent certificate, MMed [Public Health Medicine] or FCPHM [SA] or equivalent. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa for Independent Practice [Medical Specialist].
    • Medical Specialist Grade 1 none experience after registration with HPCSA, Medical Specialist
    • Grade 2 - A minimum of 05 years experience after registration with HPCSA and Medical Specialist
    • Grade 3 - A minimum of 10 years experience after registration with HPCSA in a normal Speciality.
    • Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
    • Additional qualifications such as Postgraduate/Docoral qualification [such as DoH, DTMH, or PhD/DMed] five years experience of working as Medical Specialist in public hospital or district health system, research: Publication in accedired journal, conference presentation; teaching: experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, coordination and curriculum development will be an added advantage.

    Duties :

    • Work within Steve Biko Academic Hospital and its cluster health facilities as a Public Health Medicine Specialist: Support public health medicine programmes of the Department including clinical work
    • Participate in site-specific work-related activities which may include contacts with patients and conducting overtime; This appointment is on joint Gauteng Department of health and University of Pretoria medical establishment and thus the incumbent will have teaching and training duties.
    • Furthermore, all academic appointees are expected to engage in active research.

    Medical Specialist Orthopaedics Grade 1-3

    Requirements :

    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Orthopaedic Specialist. Must be a specialist with FC Orth and MMed (Ortho) degrees.
    • Have a special interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Orthopaedic trauma and will have to demonstrate teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, alongside a proven research track record that includes at least one peer-reviewed publication.
    • Candidates must have experience in the management of general orthopaedic trauma, and multidisciplinary patient care. Membership and active participation in South Africa Orthopaedic Association and relevant sub-speciality societies will be advantageous.
    • A demonstratable experience in foot and ankle surgery, a fellowship training and membership in the South African Foot and Ankle Society will be advantageous.

    Duties :

    • The successful candidate will join the Department of Orthopaedics at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and cluster hospitals, where responsibilities will include providing specialist clinical services, performing surgical procedures, conducting outpatient clinics and ward rounds, and participating in the department`s academic programs.
    • The role further entails active involvement in teaching, supervising, and mentoring students and junior staff, as well as contributing meaningfully to the department`s research output through the development, execution, and publication of research projects.
    • Participation in clinical governance, academic meetings, and departmental outreach activities is expected as part of the broader mission to deliver high quality orthopaedic care and advance academic excellence.
