    Structural BIM Modeler and Rebar Detailer

    Job Description

    We are offering an amazing opportunity for motivated and talented individuals to join our growing and develop their career within the Structures team in one of our Cape Town Property & Buildings Coastal office. Working within the Structures division you will be involved in exciting new projects ranging from Industrial Steel Structures to Reinforced Concrete Commercial Structures.

    You will be part of a stimulating Team of engineers and BIM modelers who are pushing the boundaries and supporting staff in their development within the 3D BIM environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver structural engineering BIM models in a multi-disciplinary project environment;
    • Responsible for documentation of reinforced concrete and steel structures;
    • Delivery of projects following a modern BIM workflow; Design and model in Revit. Paperless office;
    • Produce quality work that conforms to our ISO quality standards;

    A Typical Week Would Include:

    • The Structural BIM Modeler will be responsible for producing 3D Models of structures and ancillary components (including data and drawing delivery);
    • Liaise with the discipline engineers and collaborate and coordinate with other teams involved in the scheme throughout the development of the project;
    • Follow the BIM content standards, execution plan and project workflow set out by the BIM coordinator/Lead/Manager;
    • In accordance with WSP and Project standards, review and select appropriate techniques and procedures for task execution;
    • Export files in required formats for preparation and collaboration within federated models;
    • Adapting to new software’s and workflows for the needs of the business and/or Client requirements;
    • Personal development through provided WSP training and learning streams;
    • Leading the development of junior staff;
    • Planning, monitoring and development of required outputs;
    • Contribute, at a National Level, to continual development;
    • Working on wide range of exciting projects at a local, national and international level;
    • Maintain and develop Revit families and standards

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma in Civil Engineering. B.Sc / M.Sc in Civil Engineering of advantage;
    • “Autodesk Certified Professional: Revit Structures” accreditation;
    • 10 years’ experience mainly in structural engineering BIM Modelling;
    • Structural Design experience would be advantageous;
    • Registered as professional engineer (PrEng) with ECSA;
    • Project Management experience advantageous;
    • Revit experience on LOD400 project delivery level;
    • Multidisciplinary project experience in Revit;
    • Rebar detailing experience in 3D with a good understanding of SANS10100 and SANS10144;

    Key Competencies:

    The successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:

    • Project experience in 3D modelling, design coordination and delivery of geometry, data and drawings.
    • Strong technical engineering and construction best practices knowledge;
    • Strong ability in engineering drawing preparation, construction detailing, including preparation of reinforcement detailing and schedules;
    • Ability to challenge and contribute to engineering detailing and propose better practices;
    • Experience working within a Structural Engineering background;
    • Experience using modelling packages such as Autodesk Revit, Bentley AECOSim;
    • Have expert knowledge in at least one 3D modelling package;
    • Experience in rebar modeling in Revit using CADS RC;
    • Experience in rebar detailing using ProBar (AutoPadds);
    • Experience in Rhino and Dynamo (visual programming environment) would be an added advantage.
    • Experience working with EDMS solutions such as Autodesk BIM360 etc;
    • Experience producing guidance documentation using Microsoft Word etc;
    • Intermediate to Advanced level experience in use of Microsoft Excel;
    • Experience in coordinating inter-disciplinary information in a 3D environment;
    • Experience working and manipulating reality data such as point clouds etc;
    • Experience collaborating with inter-disciplinary design teams;
    • Experience with BIM standards and best practices and reporting non-compliance;
    • Ability to produce task information delivery plans and provide estimates of required time for proposed and provided tasks;

    Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Technologist - HVAC and Wet Services

    Job Description

    The items detailed herein are guidelines for the Mechanical (HVAC + Wet Services) Project Engineer position; they are to include the items detailed below but are not limited to these. These items are indicators of eligibility / capability for the position. The suitability of staff for the position remains at the discretion of management and subject to an Engineering position being available. Hospital and other Healthcare experience will be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Proficient in Air Conditioning, heat load and ventilation calculations.
    • Proficient in Wet Services pipe sizing, drainage design and hot water generation.
    • Thorough understanding of South African National Standards (SANS – including R158), IUSS (global standard understanding such as British Standards, ASHRAE, etc. will be advantageous).
    • Proficient in various HVAC design software packages (e.g. HAP, I.E.S) and manual air psychrometric analysis and design.
    • Air/fluid/heat Flow calculation software and analysis
    • Design, based on client requirements and specifications.
    • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate wet services and HVAC systems seamlessly into building designs.
    • Proficient in various HVAC and Wet Services modeling software and BIM conversant is essential (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, etc.)
    • Proficient in all project stages from inception through to close-out and competent in constructing and compiling tender documentation and management of that process.

    Structural BIM Modeler

    KEY ROLE:

    WSP operates in a discipline model where project teams are located in dispersed locations and collaborate virtually to deliver major project designs. The Structural BIM Modeler performs a variety of design activities including BIM modelling, design, preparing drawings for projects, clash detection, establishing guidelines and procedures and managing workload distribution within the BIM team. The incumbent must be familiar with the collaborative Autodesk Suite and Bentley Suite of design software tools. Proven competence in modelling Bridge and Civil Structures and be able to develop and interpret detail design work.  The Structural BIM Modeler will be involved in automated design using Dynamo and the like, Navis works Clash detection and coordination of major infrastructure projects.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead the modelling team to ensure that project deliverables are met in accordance with specifications and quality standards
    • Able to model using the following collaborative software tools; 
    • Bentley Suite - Microstation, AECOSIM, ProjectWise or AutoDesk Suite – Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM 360, Revit  as well as reinforcement packages such as CADS RC

    Develop and interpret Bridge and Civil Structural modelling and designs including:

    • Bridge and Culverts, clash detection and modelling for highways structures.
    • Reinforcement detailing of structural elements in CADS RC
    • Civil structures modeling in Revit or AECOSIM
    • Interact and coordinate with other disciplines using NAVIS works or ITWIN

    Water Resource Engineer - Midrand

    Job Description

    The successful candidate will provide support and contribute in surface water resource projects; storm water management, hydrology studies / modelling, river design and water intakes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop water and salt balances for mining and industrial clients.
    • Give input on water components for EIA’s and mine waste management projects.
    • Provide hydrological inputs for tailings dam break analysis studies.

    Principal Associate: Geometrics - Midrand

    Job Description

    KEY ROLE:

    The Principal Associate: Geometrics leads day-to-day technical matters associated with the geometrics discipline (focussing on road alignment, stormwater and safety designs) within Transport & Infrastructure Sector, and provides support to the Sector Lead & the Discipline Lead, across Africa. This individual is responsible to the Sector Lead for leadership of people, projects, clients and business performance in the geometrics discipline, and will provide support to the Sector Lead across the Highways, Transport Planning, ITS and Rail disciplines.

    Senior Civil Engineer - Water Infrastructure (Midrand)

    Job Description

    WSP is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join the Water Infrastructure and Design Division within the Mine Engineering Business Unit. This person will be responsible for the design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects including:
      • Pipelines and pipework
      • Open Chanel Flow hydraulics
      • Storm Water Designs
      • Alignment of roads and terraces
      • Earthworks modelling
      • Pipeline modelling for water hammer, pump selecting etc.
    • Undertake planning, engineering design work and supervision of construction as required and as directed by Project Leaders or Engineers

    • At least 6 years’ experience with pipeline,pump station and storm water design
    • KY-Pipe, PC SWWM, Fluid Flow, HEC RAS, or Bentley simulation software will be an advantage
    • MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook , MS Projects
