    Manager, Marketing Lighters & Shavers

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Manage the BIC Lighter and Shaver Categories for South Africa and Southern Africa Distributor Markets, working closely with key cross functional stakeholders to achieve the business objectives. Develop a comprehensive Marketing Plan aligned to the short, medium, and long-term strategy of the Lighter and Shaver categories. 
    • Lead the product portfolio strategy to ensure timeous entry into new segments that provide growth opportunities and enhance the BIC Lighter and Shaver Categories visions. Work closely and support the Category Manager in the development of a Lighter and Shaver category strategy for key retailers. 
    • Have a thorough understanding of the Southern African Lighter and Shaver marketplace leveraging Circana, Trade Intelligence, Euromonitor, research and trade visits. Effectively manage the annual Lighter and Shaver Marketing brand support budgets to ensure that the Lighter and Shaver categories and business objectives are achieved in a cost-efficient manner.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

    • Develop comprehensive marketing plans and strategies for the Lighter and Shaver categories in line with BIC's visions, values, and business objectives.
    • Develop marketing campaigns, in conjunction with preferred Agency partners, that align to the brand and business objectives.
    • Coordinating marketing efforts and cost-effective strategies to ensure that marketing expenditure is within budget, and that all marketing plans are executed professionally and timeously.
    • Where relevant leverage, build and amplify existing campaigns.
    • Research market to identify and validate proposed new products.
    • Launch new products timeously and enter new segments that provide growth opportunities.
    • Develop and align new packaging when and where applicable.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the South Africa marketplace and manage the Distributor marketing efforts with the Market Manager.
    • Management of key external Agency partners (Strategic, Creative, Media, Activation and POSM) ensuring positive relationships are maintained to drive elevated levels of performance and delivery.
    • Implement status meetings in place with all agencies to ensure that campaigns are within timeframe and within budget
    • Work with the Sales teams to ensure that they have the correct tools on an operational level to meet the business objectives. 
    • Lighter and Shaver lead at Business Collaboration meetings driving alignment and collaboration with the Sales team.
    • Support the Sales team by attending meetings, seeing customers, coming up with channel specific promotions.
    • Management and support of the Junior Brand Manager to ensure delivery of brand and category objectives.
    • Collaboration with the Regional HQ (MEA) marketing team.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Successful on time delivery and implementation of the Lighter and Shaver categories Marketing Plans.
    • Marketing budget management within budget.
    • On time delivery of all Lighter and Shaver categories marketing campaigns.
    • Interaction and collaboration with key functions across the business to ensure delivery of objectives.
    • Results of key marketing initiatives and promotional activities will be a benchmark of success.
    • Delivery of market share growth objectives, in both volume and value, across Lighter and Shaver categories.
    • Delivery of Lighter and Shaver key KPI’s = NS, GP% and EBIT across the Southern Africa markets.
    • Junior Brand Manager development plans done with quality and reviewed on a quarterly basis.
    • Lighter Category size of R100 million (Net Sales)
    • Shaver Category size of R200 million (Net Sales)

    Assembly Instrumentation Technician

    JOB SUMMARY 

    • MAIN PURPOSE: Sets and maintains all machines to obtain their optimum efficiencies, ensures that all planned maintenance work is done according to the schedules and that all records are kept up to date, liaise with QA personnel and strives to maintain high quality standards. Will, when necessary, assist with new projects deemed and work overtime when required. Manage, diagnose and maintain digital PLC equipment. 

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS 

    ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE:

    REQUIRED EDUCATION: 

    • Millwright 
    • Electrician 
    • N4 Mechanical/N4 Electrical or above

    REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: 

    • With at least 5 years maintenance and setting experience of high-speed packaging, assembly, printing, and manufacturing machines with a thorough knowledge of the implementation and the successful running of a machine maintenance schedule.  

    PLC Diagnoses and coding: 

    • Will need to be able to understand, read and program PLC controllers (Preferably OMRON). PLC experience is a must.  

    Machine setting: 

    • Technicians must develop the skills for the setting of all assembly machines (Mechanical and electrical)  

    Machine overhauling: 

    • Will do running and preventative maintenance according to a planned maintenance program: liaise with the foreman to ensure that all machines and equipment are mechanically sound with adequate lubrication. Technicians will ensure that the necessary schedules are filled in at the end of each shift and have been signed off by their supervisor. 

    Production: 

    • Technicians must be aware of the outputs of various machines and equipment, to achieve the highest possible output figures. Will strive to maintain optimum settings, will report any problems related to the non-performance of machines/ equipment and/ or both to the foreman. Will assist with operator and supervisor training on Assembly Machines and inform them of any standard procedural changes. Technicians are to ensure that all machines on plan should be in running order before the end of their shift. 

    Quality Assurance: 

    • Will consider quality as a key component of all work that is done and products that are manufactured on the machines/ Equipment under his care, will have a thorough knowledge of the product and its components. Will continually seek to meet the standards required for all products and will advise the QA Department of any non-performance of the product and or its components.  

    Safety and housekeeping: 

    • Prevents and minimizes hazards, ensures that the areas around the machines and equipment are kept clean and tidy by the operatives at all times and that they meet with BIC’s requirements. If these requirements are not met he will report this to his foreman / or the Safety Representative for that area. We are an ISO 14001 compliant company and technicians are required to prevent and minimize any environmental hazardous and report any possible risks to the foreman and or HSE manager. Safety must be the priority and near miss reporting is required. Good 5S knowledge and implementation. 

    Working hours 

    • Assembly Technicians are required to work shifts, including weekends and overtime when required and as per shift rosters.  

    Security: 

    • The incumbent will be aware that the removal of any company property from the premises (Manufactured product and equipment) without prior written permission is a criminal offence. He will report any suspicious removal of the same to the engineering foreman or security personnel. The incumbent will understand that he is indirectly responsible for security in and around his work areas.  

    Employee Relations: 

    • The incumbent will be aware of the importance of having good working relations with his colleagues. All the operatives in his work areas and all persons he may have to deal with during the course of a day.

    Associate Category Manager (Hybrid work policy)

    The Associate Category Manager (Senior Data Analyst) is responsible for the main responsibilities as below:

    • To analyze data (IRI | Cognos | Trade Intelligence) to drive insights to deliver the business and category growth objectives.

    To define channel guidelines across Category Management levers with a focus on: -

    • Driving incremental sales and profit for BIC and Retail partners
    • Gain optimized distribution and visibility for BIC products in the retail environment.
    • Provide analytical inputs on category opportunities.
    • Drive alignment between the functions involved in Category Development (Marketing, Sales, RGM) and coordinate programs and actions needed to implement recommendations.
    • Lead identified category management projects.
    • Translate global Category Management strategies by Category into locally relevant strategies where applicable.

    • Monthly reporting on performance of categories to the BIC business, locally and internationally.

    • Tracking performance, new product innovations, pricing and distribution of competitors and their products.
    • Working with GS1 to generate barcodes for new products and to load new products onto GS1 (data net).
    • Listings of all new products for Major Retailers such as Game, Shoprite, SPAR, PnP, Makro, Dis-Chem, Clicks, Boxer, etc.
    • Strike Rate reports (listing shortfalls by channel and store, OOS reporting)
    • Ensure that the planograms are built on accepted industry guidelines.
    • Assist Sales where necessary, to improve the merchandising standards within various channels according to company guidelines.

    Manager, Logistic

    JOB SUMMARY

    • The Logistics Manager Southern and Central Africa is responsible for driving the logistics operations to deliver high customer service while ensuring cost effectiveness and optimizing resources to deliver product to customers. The person is responsible for designing and deploying the Logistics strategy in the cluster, providing leadership and strategic guidance to the local team and relevant stakeholders with the objective to ensure the strategy execution in the day-to day operations. The regional Logistics Manager is leading the local team ensuring their development, engagement and capability improvement.
    • The role is responsible for the operations in Southern and Central Africa, which includes Domestic Subsidiary and sales in South Africa, and Export Sales to 9 markets: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles through 16 distributors.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

    Logistics Management

    • Manage logistics operations in the cluster (In house and or 3PL): Freight, storage, handling, co-packing, picking, invoicing outbound and Export functions.
    • Leading Co-Packing management and maintenance of machines to ensure smooth operations with the aim of limiting machine breakdowns and costly repairs.
    • Manage, review the local 3PL service providers performance on monthly basis.
    • Responsible for setting-up and monitoring 3PL Logistics service level agreement framework.
    • Manage logistics performance dashboard. (OTIF / NETT Cuts / FRDC cost).
    • Ensure monthly performance communication to the main business stakeholders.
    • Review/ Negotiate the 3PLs contracts as per the renewal timeline.
    • Lead the Warehouse/Logistics 3PL tender on regular basis (3 Years/ 5 Years).
    • Ensure compliance of the warehousing and distribution facilities in relation to health and safety aspects relating to local legislation as well as BIC global standards. (In house and or 3PL).
    • Continuously evaluate local logistics network in search for improvements and efficiencies, considering the business priorities.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives/projects with the objective of streamlining the process and driving efficiency.
    • Continuously reviewing, updating and documenting logistics processes & SOPs.
    • Responsible to provide input related to Customer Excellence workstream as well as the assumptions, risks and opportunities used to generate the OP numbers
    • KPI’s: FRDC Cost absolute value and % of NETT Sales / Stock accuracy, Warehouse utilization, Co-packing performance, Documentation accuracy.

    Customer Service:

    • Manage end to end customer relation management workflow, ensuring we constantly deliver excellence to customers (Internal and external customers).
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects related to customer service area (Internal and external customers)
    • Define and implement tools and systems to execute operations, measure and communicate performance on regular basis. (OTIF /NETT Cuts / Picking performance / Delivery lead times).
    • Ensure regular communication with customers and the Commercial team on the progress of orders management and invoicing.
    • Responsible for customer engagement projects with commercial team / Distributors.
    • Monitor customer satisfaction reporting and lead improvement initiative.
    • Along with regional CE manager CS manager and local management, to lead distributors capability development programs.
    • KPI’s: OTIF, NETT Cuts, Lost Sales, Back orders, Returns rate (for domestic customers)

    Inventory & Slob Management

    • Drive Initiatives to monitor and improve stock level while securing the right availability in the market in conjunction with CE and E2E Planning teams.
    • Manage monthly feedback to E2E planning on inventory and SLOB.
    • Drive monthly actions with E2E planning CE and Commercial team to reduce SLOBS and deliver to the cluster target.
    • KPI’s: Inventory value, Inventory cover, Slob value, Slob percentage versus NS.

    People Management

    • Managing a team of 22 people (6 direct reports)
    • Provide technical functional leadership to the local team to deliver superior customer service and optimize costs.
    • Define and maintain team structure, roles and responsibilities. Analyze long term capacity of Supply & Deliver teams and plan accordingly.
    • Responsible for engagement, development and growth of the local Supply & Deliver team.
    • KPI’s: Engagement Survey results and actions to follow.

    Cost Management

    • Manage the CE cost for the cluster: Freight, Distribution and Labor cost.
    • Monitor and report monthly the FRDC performance as well as the outlook for 12 MNTHS rolling.
    • Own the cluster program to continuously drive cost performance through projects and initiatives.
    • Ensure quality input to the OP exercise on an annual basis.
    • KPI’s: FRDC cost: Freight out cost, Distribution cost, Labor and Overhead costs Co-Packing Cost, Machinery Repair and Maintenance cost at Co-Packer

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics / Supply chain field or similar tertiary qualification essential.
    • 5-7 years Supply Chain experience within a FMCG manufacturing or related environment is essential and experience within the stationary business is advantageous.
    • SHEQ or relevant Health and Safety training required.
    • JDE or similar enterprise software experience required.
    • Warehouse Management software experience required.
    • Must have knowledge of Supply Chain Operations.
    • Must have knowledge of Co-Packing Operations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
    • Must have strong time management and prioritization skills.
