    Packaging Buyer - Maitland

    Purpose:

    • Cape Herb & Spice is looking for a dynamic and innovative Packaging Buyer to join our packaging procurement team.
    • You would play a key role in sourcing and procuring high-quality packaging materials for our local and international clients.
    • With a focus on delivering exceptional value for money and ensuring timely delivery of products, you will contribute to the success and growth of our clients' businesses, collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand packaging requirements and develop effective procurement strategies.
    • Research, identify, and evaluate potential packaging suppliers, considering factors such as quality, cost, and sustainability.
    • Manage supplier relationships and resolve any issues or concerns that may arise.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply and minimize waste.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in packaging materials and technologies.

    Role Objectives:

    Key Functional Duties:

    • Identify sustainable and cost saving packaging opportunities in Gifting & Spice
    • Sourcing & development including trialing process & problem solving
    • Provide Technical support
    • Running daily reports on stock, minimum inventory and production planning
    • Placing daily orders to suppliers
    • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services
    • Communication and follow ups with Key suppliers on a regular basis
    • General Administration
    • Attend and prepare for weekly SOP meetings
    • Keep abreast of and research new packaging concepts, trends, market activity and innovation within the relevant categories (gifting)
    • Identify sustainable & cost saving packaging solutions across the business (gifting & spice)
    • Identify opportunities to reduce packaging costs (cost saving) while still maintaining product quality
    • Problem solving & identifying packaging solutions to allow for better product functionality
    • Assist in packaging samples during development
    • Assisting in packaging trials & development
    • Technical problem solving support to internal departments (NPD & Procurement).
    • Assisting with supplier quotations & liaison (gifting)
    • Provide support and assistance to the Packaging lead

    Education & Required Knowledge:

    • Either a degree or an equivalent of the below degree and 2 - 4 years’ similar experience that aligns to our Packaging Buyer Key functional duties
    •  Packaging Technology
    •  Project Management
    •  Relevant business and/or logistics degree

    Advantageous experience in:

    •  Graphic Design (including packaging design)
    •  Product Development
    •  Commercial
    •  Syspro
    • Computer Literacy (Microsoft office)

    Category Buyer - Maitland

    Purpose of the job:

    • An experienced buyer is needed to join a young and passionate team to manage and develop the buying of raw materials and packaging. The successful incumbent will ensure that the supply of goods into the business is managed effectively, efficiently and in line with agreed company objectives.

    Key Functional Areas:
    Operational Roles:

    • Tracking and ensuring on time delivery of goods
    • Must develop a good understanding of the production requirements report, visual stock planning report and the daily usage dashboard
    • Lead weekly operational and planning meetings when necessary
    • Develop SLAs and performance measurements with suppliers
    • Monitor sales orders/jobs on the system in order to prepare, prompt and follow up with the other stake holders regarding supply
    • Manage shipping documentation and liaise with shipping agents
    • Monitor stock levels warehouse capacity
    • Cross-Functional communication in order to communicate changes/requirements from other departments to the procurement department
    • Use Data to provide insightful information to the business
    • Generate and update purchase orders
    • Place orders with key suppliers when necessary
    • Liaise with key suppliers on a regular basis
    • Ensure that due dates on purchase orders are kept up to date
    • Update KPI reports on a weekly basis
    • Assist with account queries.
    • Partake in quarterly stock takes along with the rest of the CHS team

    Strategic Roles:

    • Be involved with new product/range launches
    • Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with NPD, Sales, Production, Stores and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts/driver
    • Build and maintain supplier relationships
    • Minimize the amount of stock outs
    • Reduce inventory value on hand to acceptable levels
    • Review and update class A items on a regular basis
    • Have market knowledge of category and benchmark against market and other competitors
    • Inventory review- Responsible for the “in-stock” levels within the agreed inventory parameters high peaks and low demand
    • Manage the demand planning process and the demand planning tools to support the relevant demand planning activities
    • Liaise with the Team Lead on a regular basis, to review Inventory values in stores and decide what needs to be reduced etc.
    • Work alongside the Team Lead to review the goals that need to be achieved by the Procurement Department. The buyer should assist by monitoring and driving these goals operationally

    Required Knowledge & Skills:

    • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office)
    • Excel skills – Advanced level essential
    • Inbound shipping knowledge beneficial
    • MRP Systems (experience on Syspro is advantageous)
    • Experience in BI reporting and or Tableau advantageous

    Required Prior Learning/ Experience:

    • Degree in Supply Chain/ Logistics/ Operations or Engineering required
    • 2-3 years’ experience within a similar role

    Product Developer - Maitland

    Purpose:

    Cost Accountant - Westlake

    Purpose:

    The Cost Accountant will support the Operations by providing information that will aid decision making and drive profitability, operational efficiency and effective cost control. The Cost Accountant will identify and drive system improvement opportunities and ensure strong controls are in place.

    Key Functional Duties:

    • Perform product and customer costings
    • Compile costing information and perform adhoc costings as required
    • Analyse margin and costs and identify where improvements can be made to profitability
    • Calculating production recovery costs and ensuring BOM’s are accurate
    • Coordinate inventory counts and resolve variances
    • Ensure strong inventory controls are in place to safeguard inventory and drive accuracy
    • Complete landed cost calculations for imported raw materials and ensure inventory is valued correctly
    • Review the accuracy of inventory related transactions and assist with queries
    • Review WIP to ensure accuracy, investigate reasons for variances and drive corrective actions
    • Analyse material usage and waste and drive corrective actions
    • Compile and maintain reports to track performance and KPI’s
    • Preparing information and reports for business presentations
    • Assist with compiling annual budgets and rolling forecasts
    • Providing systems support to users and maintaining master data
    • Identify and drive system improvements and assist with special projects
    • Prepare SOP documentation and provide training to staff on systems implemented
    • Assist with Capex calculations and tracking of return on investment

    Required Prior Learning/ Experience

    • Bcom Cost and Management Accounting or Finance related degree (Studying towards CIMA advantageous)
    • At least 1-3 years of experience in a financial or cost accounting role
    • Experience working within a manufacturing environment will be an advantage

    Required Knowledge and Skills

    • Experience working with ERP (Syspro) systems and integrated systems (Barcode scanning) will be an advantage
    • Computer literate: MS Office (Intermediate / Advanced Excel / Pivot Tables, Power BI advantageous)
    • Driver’s License essential
