    Roof Bolter Operator

    The successful applicant will report to the Miner or nominee.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
    • Competent B Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • Completion of a relevant, approved training programme.
    • Advantageous: 6 months TMM/ RDO/ Blasting Assistant/ LHD Operator experience in a mining environment.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Safely operate the Roof-bolter within designated areas and in accordance with set operating procedures and standards in order to achieve production objectives.
    • Operate the Roof-bolter by adhering to operating procedures and standards to achieve production requirements. Monitor continuously component performance through experience, observation against standards to identify sub-standard performance, non-conformance and/or deviations. Report above to supervisor for corrective action measures.
    • Conduct pre-shift inspection of Roofbolter machine, machine parts and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards, within prescribed procedures.
    • Follow lock-out procedure when equipment is faulty, and at end of shift, including failure time recorded and location of machine / equipment.
    • Perform minor maintenance on Roofbolter by greasing the boom, checking oil, loose fittings, pipes, broken shank, and changing consumables.
    • Report all other maintenance issues to artisan. Maintain proper operation and care of machine as per manufacturer’s specifications, and standard operating procedures.

    Drill Rig Operator

    The successful applicant will report to the Miner or nominee.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10/Standard 8 Certificate.
    • Competent B Certificate.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • Completion of relevant approved training programme.
    • Advantageous: 6 months practical experience as Competent Operator on Drill Rig.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Safely operate the Drill Rig within designated areas and in accordance with set operating standards in order to achieve set production requirements.
    • Operate the Drill Rig to achieve production requirements. Operate and control single machine following correct and safe operating procedures. Continuously observe/monitor component performance against standards to identify any sub performance/non-conformance or deviations, and report to Supervisor.
    • Do pre-shift inspection of machines, machine parts, and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards within prescribed processes and procedures.
    • When equipment is faulty and at end of the shift, ensure lock-out procedure is followed and failure time recorded, report timeously to control room and supervisor.
    • Perform minor maintenance on the Drill Rig by greasing the boom, replacing bolts on drifter and changing consumables. Report all other maintenance issues to the Artisan.

    Blasting Assistant

    The successful applicant will report to the Miner or nominee.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 /Standard 8 Certificate.
    • Blasting Assistant Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 1 year practical underground mining experience e.g. Pump Attendant/ PTW/ Belt Attendant/ Rock breaker.
    • Advantageous: 6 months practical experience as Blasting Assistant.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Ensure involvement with face preparation before drilling a face. Preparation and transportation of explosives. Responsible for charging up the round prior to blasting.
    • Create a safe work area and good housekeeping. Conduct early examination. Water down after blasting. Examine the face. Wash sockets. Clean the face with a shovel. Demarcate the geological features. Assist with measurements and direction lines. Treating of misfires under supervision. Adhere to current operating procedure requirements.
    • Ensure receipt of explosives order from Miner, hand in at Magazine, receive explosives and transport to section.
    • Dislodging of the drill holes and charging up with explosives. Timing and assistance with connecting of blast.

    Pump Attendant

    The successful applicant will report to the Miner or nominee.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • Completion of a relevant, approved training programme.
    • Advantageous: 6 months production exposure in an underground mining environment.
    • Advantageous: 6 months working knowledge of trackless mining.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Be in charge of underground water pumps and maintains proper operation of the pumps.
    • Ensure pumps are operated effectively.
    • Minimize abuse of pumps and equipment. Extend pumping column to where required.
    • Connect pumps. Collect, install and maintain effective pumping.

    Welder Aide

    The successful applicant will report to the Boilermaker or nominee.

    MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 10 / Standard 8.
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
    • Operative Course Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

    • 6 months practical trade-related experience in a heavy industrial/ mining/ plant environment/ TMM.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    • Execute manufacturing, developing, installation, repairs, replacement of steel plate profiles on TMM’s in support of the Engineering team. Welding and cutting of materials and metals e.g. steel, aluminum, brass, stainless steel etc.
    • Ensure workshop is clean at all times. Coordinate the workshop's operational functioning. Ensure all equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in Storeroom according to labeling. Ensure that personal toolbox is in safe working condition.
    • Ensure work is always conducted with the necessary pride. Working hours are respected and kept to. Sick leave and other benefits are not exploited. All work is done right the first time and there is no replacement for quality and safety. Friendliness and helpfulness is portrayed in all transactions with clients, internal as well as external.A business-orientated culture is strived for, and all work is performed in a cost-effective way. Own work is benchmarked against best practices in the same work environment. A continuous improvement attitude is followed and is implemented in all facets of the work.
    • Schedule and organise workload, spares, tools, and resources according to EAMS processes and procedures. Obtain permit to work and related permits for work to be performed by complying with the required procedures related to work permits. Execute work against issued work order in a timely and accurate manner. Complete work orders and return to supervisor for sign off. Conduct regular inspections, whether scheduled or ad hoc, and record feedback on work order. Conduct planning of job shown on work order to ensure job is executed in shortest space of time.
    • Conduct risk assessment in own area of work and within span of control. Perform asset care activities as required to EAMS system including accurate and timeous feedback and documentation to all stakeholders. Operate and maintain specified mobile equipment in line with requirements of Code of Practice, policies, and procedures.
    • Maintain all workshop tools in safe and working condition. Clean tools after use. Inspect all equipment to identify defects and future defects. All equipment is inspected continuously to repair identified defects in time to prevent breakdowns, damaged equipment, injuries, and production delays. Plan and order parts to minimize production delays, due to equipment and machinery failure. Equipment is maintained proactively and serviced on a scheduled basis to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Breakdowns are attended to immediately to restore availability and reported to the Foreman. Plan the repairs to equipment and machinery which cannot be fixed immediately and order applicable parts.
