    Project Planner – Underground Mining

    Project Planner – Underground Mining

    • A leading mining and engineering company based in Heidelberg, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Project Planner to join its underground mining project team.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, coordinating, monitoring and maintaining detailed project schedules for underground mining, engineering and construction activities, ensuring that project milestones, resources and deliverables are effectively managed and projects are delivered within the required timeframes.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 3–5 years' experience as a Project Planner, preferably within the underground mining, mining projects, engineering or construction industry.
    • Underground mining experience is essential.
    • Relevant qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering or a related technical field.
    • Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
    • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling and project controls.
    • Experience developing and maintaining detailed project programmes.
    • Experience working on underground mining projects and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
    • Knowledge of project milestones, critical path analysis, resource planning and progress tracking.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
    • Valid driver's licence.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and programmes for underground mining projects.
    • Develop schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning activities.
    • Update and maintain project programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
    • Monitor actual project progress against approved baselines and identify schedule deviations and potential delays.
    • Perform critical path analysis and identify activities that may impact project completion.
    • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Mining Teams, Construction Teams and Contractors to obtain accurate progress information.
    • Prepare short-, medium- and long-term project schedules.
    • Track project milestones, key deliverables and contractual deadlines.
    • Assist with resource planning, including labour, equipment, materials and contractor requirements.
    • Monitor progress of underground mining, construction and engineering activities against planned schedules.
    • Compile weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
    • Attend project planning and progress meetings and provide detailed scheduling updates.
    • Identify potential schedule risks and assist with the development of mitigation and recovery plans.
    • Assist Project Managers with forecasting project completion dates and assessing schedule impacts.
    • Maintain accurate project planning documentation, progress records and schedule reports.
    • Assist with project controls, progress measurement and performance reporting.
    • Coordinate schedule information from various project disciplines and ensure programme integration.
    • Monitor contractor and subcontractor progress against approved programmes.
    • Ensure project schedules remain aligned with mine requirements, project objectives, contractual obligations and safety requirements.
    • Provide planning support during project execution and assist with resolving scheduling issues.
    • Maintain compliance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant mining and industry standards.
    • Perform any additional planning and project control duties as required by Management.

    Junior Project Planner

    Junior Project Planner

    • A leading engineering and project management company based in Pretoria East, Gauteng, is seeking a Junior Project Planner to join its project team.
    • The successful candidate will support the planning and coordination of engineering, construction and project-related activities, assisting with the development, monitoring and maintenance of project schedules to ensure projects remain on track and key deliverables are achieved.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 1–3 years' experience in a planning, project coordination or project administration role, preferably within the engineering, construction, mining or EPCM industry.
    • Relevant qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical field will be advantageous.
    • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.

    • Our client, based in Brakpan, is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager (SIB) to lead the successful delivery of projects within a process plant environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full project lifecycle, from planning and coordination through to execution, commissioning and final handover.
    • This position requires an individual with strong project management expertise and proven experience managing SIB projects within the mining or process plant sector.
    • The ideal candidate will be able to effectively manage project scope, budgets, timelines, contractors and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and operational requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related field.
    • Relevant project management qualification would be advantageous.
    • Minimum 8–10 years' project management experience, preferably within a mining, mineral processing or process plant environment.
    • Proven experience managing SIB / capital projects.
    • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.

    • One of our clients, a well-established organisation located in Brakpan, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (SIB) to oversee and manage engineering activities within a process plant environment.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of engineering infrastructure and equipment, while providing strategic and technical leadership to the engineering function.
    • The role requires a strong understanding of mining/process plant environments, engineering standards, maintenance practices and statutory compliance.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) Mines & Works is essential.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) would be advantageous.
    • Minimum 8–10 years' engineering experience, preferably within a mining, mineral processing or process plant environment.
    • Proven experience in an Engineering Manager / Engineering Management capacity.
