    GL Accountant Assistant (temp 9 months) (Cape Town)

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Africa GL Accountant Junior will participate to the below accounting activities and will have an active role in getting the document from different stakeholder and getting them filed.

    Accounts Receivable and Payable

    • Monthly reconciliation of all Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledger accounts
    • Balance GL to AR and AP sub-system balances
    • Process all payments and receipts via the ERP system and reconcile statements 

    Inter-company Accounting

    • Obtain IC invoices and supporting documents from IC partners 
    • Accrue of IC invoices not processed
    • Reconcile IC balances with other IC partners

    Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting

    • Ensure that the General Ledger and Fixed Asset/Lease sub-systems are aligned
    • Ensure additions and disposals to fixed assets/leases are recorded and documented accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with the entity’s policy

    General Ledger and Month End Reporting

    • Prepare and process all relevant journals with appropriate supporting information
    • Maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliations in line with corporate requirements
    • Follow up on corrections and clearing of any required balance sheet reconciling items within appropriate timelines
    • Carry out monthly close procedures
    • Preparation of financial information and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
    • Support any required ad-hoc requests and cost analysis
    • Contribute to any specific function projects

    Reporting & Statutory

    • Assist with organizing and preparation and filing of information as required for statutory and tax audits in respective countries.
    • Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls (SOX).

    QUALIFICATIONS:  

    •  Third Year of Bachelor degree or higher degree in Accounting or Finance. 

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: 

    • Strong understanding of accounting theory
    • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
    • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
    • Proficiency with email and Microsoft applications
    • ERP system experience
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management.
    • Fluent in English, French would be advantageous

    Electrical Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    NOV Rig Equipment are seeking an Electrical Engineer who will perform a variety of electrical engineering tasks designing, planning, and overseeing the design and development of electrical components, systems and Control Systems. We work closely with several other disciplines to increase the total value of the products and services that NOV can offer. Being part of a global resource pool, your tasks and assignments may vary depending on NOV needs and priorities.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Research, develop, and design Electrical and electronic interface circuitry for control of products.
    • Work with customers (internal/external) and review project defining documents to understand project requirements.
    • Create and/or design electrical drawings and documentation. (Typical; block diagram, termination diagram, electrical schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings and BOMs.)
    • Ensure electrical scope and content is defined during initial design processes.
    • Provide electrical leadership in preparation, and ensure that deliverables projects are controlled with regard to scope, schedule, budget, performing appraisal, etc.
    • Establish design criteria for deliverables using required codes and standards.
    • Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure subsequent design changes are documented and transmitted as required to internal and external resources.
    • Participate in design review.
    • Provide manufacturing with technical assistance.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Preferred 5+ years of experience designing control systems.
    • You will have an education within Electrical / Instrumentation/ Mechatronics or experience
    • Relevant experience within Instrumentation, Electrical, Mining Machines or Automotive may compensate where there is no formal qualification
    • Practical experience with FATs or Commissioning Equipment
    • Experience with design and engineering of Ex (hazardous area) equipment is desirable.
    • Experience from using AutoCAD design tool will be an advantage

    SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

    • Knowledge of offshore design standards is beneficial but not essential
    • Knowledge and experience in Teams Centre Siemens (Desirable)
    • Having a professional letter/certification in electrical, automation, etc. is an advantage
    • Knowledge and experience with Explosion Proof equipment preferred (Desirable)
    • Generally good IT knowledge and experience from using relevant software

    Application Support Analyst (Port Elizabeth)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    NOV is seeking a self-motivated Data and configuration Analyst to join the Rig Technologies team. The successful candidate will work directly with the technical team in the Connected Products group and will serve as the technical reference to ensure the performance and availability of our online solutions in NOV development, test, and production environments.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performs installation, configuration, and upgrades of the Connected Product solutions.
    • Monitors solution performance/availability; suggest alternative approaches when applicable.
    • Works with the Connected Product Development Team to troubleshoot issues reported by the customers/stakeholders; record the issues in the ticketing system.
    • Documents the implemented solution, bug fixes, etc. and create troubleshooting documents
    • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
    • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
    • Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited institutions

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience must be IT related (Essential)
    • Software Development skills/experiences a plus
    • Windows/Linux server experience a plus

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & SPECIAL TRAINING:

    • Microsoft Excel Proficiency (Essential)
    • Scripting knowledge in Python and/or Bash Shel
    • SQL knowledge
    • Scripting knowledge (Bash/Bat/Python)
