RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

• To diagnose problems and repair diesel engines and ancillary equipment.
• To apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests, to ensure the systems is working properly, following repairs

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The following trade tested qualifications will be considered:

• Mechanical Fitter/ Diesel Fitter/ Diesel Mechanic.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience.
• Must be qualified with a valid trade test certificate
• Must have large diesel engine overhaul experience
• Ability and acumen to work independently
• Strong mechanical background
• A good knowledge and strong commitment to Health and Safety processes.
• Sound communication skills.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• A team player and ability to maintain a positive attitude within the team.
• A can-do attitude.
• Be proactive and flexible, willing to work long hours.
• Medically fit to work on board fishing vessels.
• Clear criminal record.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintaining and compliance of standards within the department such as HACCP, OHASA, etc.
• General housekeeping in the Fitters Workshop.
• Have some knowledge of Marine work.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 

• Matric advantageous
• Must be able to take instructions and carry out work on his/her own.
• Be medically fit.
• Have the ability to work with hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed.
• Sober habits and clear criminal record
• Must be punctual and reliable.
