Position Purpose:
- Ensures oversight of Supplier Base across the Group focusing on Supplier Relationship Management activities including but not limited to Supplier Performance Management, Supplier Risk Management, Supplier Collaboration and Supplier development.
- Provides high level reviews and outputs to the SRM Team as well as various team Committees and meetings based on
- business criticality.
- Leads supplier relationship engagements with Suppliers
- Accountable for execution of Transnet Group-wide SRM strategy, framework and SRM plans. Monitoring performance mgt.
- relative to KPIs / SLAs and managing risks/ mitigating issues as required.
- Responsible for stakeholder communication / coordination between functions and overseeing internal team communication /
- coordination as required, esp. between strategic and other supplier teams, as well as with Localisation & BBBEE.
- Accountable for supporting GM : Supplier Relationship Management on ad hoc requests (e.g. reporting / memo /mattersarising inputs).

ROLE OVERVIEW
- Communicates and execute SRM strategy to optimise value through identifying key trends, client portfolios, continuous
- service improvements, savings and opportunities.
- Develops and execute annual operations plan including support on supplier development /performance management plan.
- Implements an effective SRM strategy and capability across function.
- Supports contract mgt. as required during pre and post negotiation process and continuous performance management for
- cost savings, efficiency gains and ESD development priorities.
- Ensures all services are specified to ensure consistent service delivery and performance levels across the managed service
- line including relevant statutory requirements, legislation, SLAs and KPIs.
- Manages and monitor initiatives to enhance supplier partnerships.
- Implement / manage improvement plans where service delivery is below required standard in collaboration with Localisation
- & B BBEE team, contract mgt. team and end users.
- Shares best practice and innovation across the team and business.
- Supports GM : Supplier Relationship Management as and when required.
RESEARCH / ANALYSIS
- Take part in data collection and the collation of supplier insights.
- Assumes a role in the development of SRM regulatory framework including SRM Policy, Standard Operating Procedure,
- Manuals, Tools and Templates.
- Monitor trends in SRM and identify emerging opportunities and gaps.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
- Supports internal collaboration, knowledge sharing, compliance with best practices and established SRM processes.
- Supports negotiations of strategic contracts.
- Supports management of strategic suppliers and internal relationships.
- Monitors Procurement performance against strategic goals, in collaboration with Localisation & B BBEE and contract mgt.teams, as well as end users.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce or related degree is required,
- Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a large enterprise with complex business processes of which 3- 5 years are at
- management experience,
- MBA/MBL/M.Com or any related Post Graduate Qualification will be an advantage,
- Hands-on management Experience required,
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Commerce or related degree is required,
- PFMA, PPPFA and public sector
- Procurement experience,
- Supplier /SMME development Experience,
- MCIPS certification advantageous.

Position Purpose:
Transnet SOC operates 9 of its Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) marine terminals and 9 of its Transnet Freight Rail (TFR)
inland terminals using Navis N4 as its Terminal Operating System (TOS). End users of the TOS include internal employees and external customers from all over South Africa. The TOS is used in a 24/7 environment for planning and operational execution.
The TOS team is based at TPT’s Head Office in Durban and reports to the Service Delivery Manager: Navis. Navis N4, SPARCS, and EDI are all part of the solution specialist scope. The Navis Solution Specialist's primary responsibility is to collaborate with all stakeholders to plan, design, configure, test, and implement TOS-specific solutions. This can include TOS integrated business solutions as well as collaboration with vendors, other operating divisions, and customers. Technical tasks related to TOS implementations and upgrades also form part of the responsibilities of the role. The Navis Solutions Specialist adapts an agile software development approach which aids in timeous delivery of business solutions.
Position outputs:
Administration
- Develop and maintain technical and implementation plans.
- Update technical documentation on a regular basis to ensure it is current and up to date.
- Maintain technical configurations in accordance with related policies and procedures.
- Record time allocation per task for project management and capitalization purposes.
- Ensure that all TOS-related policies and procedures are followed, and that all change and release management tasks are

Manage changes through its lifecycle.
- Create and update a knowledge base for solutions specialist staff.
- Create end-user-friendly documentation that adheres to standard operating procedures (SOP) and best practices.
- Create and maintain high-level activity plans with scheduling timelines for project tasks and activities.
- Participate in planning and brainstorming sessions in order to gather and develop user requirements.
- Participate in business discussions and workgroups related to TOS solutions.
- Create professional documents like memorandums and other business documents.
- Formulate reports of project technical activities and present to stakeholders.

Technical Solutions
- During TOS implementations and upgrades, participate in the entire life cycle of TOS planning, design, configuration, testing
- and implementation.
- Configure and customize the TOS to meet business needs while adhering to best practices.
- Solve complex business problems by utilizing TOS configurations as well as information technologies and business
- knowledge.
- Collaboratively plan the implementation of releases with ICT teams and business stakeholders.
- Work closely with the software vendors assigned support engineer and other software vendor resources to develop robust
- solutions.
- Collaborate with other technical resources and stakeholders to ensure optimum solutions are designed and implemented.
- Document test plans and test cases for solutions which are being developed.
- Execute thorough functional testing of solutions and TOS versions.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing which is performed by test users.
- Document errors which originate from testing activities and manage the delivery of fixes for the errors.
- Participate and contribute in all forms of testing for technical solutions.
- Implement and manage configurations during go-live.
- Monitor stability of implemented solutions and track errors.
- Solve any errors as they are raised, this may require recreation and a case being raised with the software vendor.
- Create an effective and robust rollback plan for solutions as a backup should an implementation need to be reversed.
Support
- Provide post go-live support for solutions which are implemented.
- Manage the support phase and errors or issues which may arise during this time.
- Hand over the solution to the TOS support team or relevant support team once the post-support period completes.
- Ensure all support documentation has been kept up-to-date and handed over to the relevant teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant Qualification / National Diploma in Information Technology/Computer science (NQF 6/7)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in support/development/analysis of a terminal operating system or enterprise information
- system.
- Preferably 1 year supervisory or specialist experience in support/development/analysis of a terminal operating system or
- enterprise information system.
