Key Responsibilities    

•  Ensure all shipments are handled in line with client requirements.
•  Physical handling (loading and offloading) of client’s cargo at Airport, Road Haulier Depot, Warehouse and client’s premises
•  Ensuring cargo is in perfect outward condition before signing acceptance of the cargo.
•  Taking care of the Company vehicle, daily roadworthy checks and report any faults to Management
•  Taking care of the load the vehicle is carrying at all times, doors locked, Load body doors locked and vehicle locked and armed when unattended.
•  Working with Air Import / Export teams
•  To work with Air and Export  teams and assist in General Air Duties.
•  Identify any issues of concern and elevate to management for resolution
•  To achieve the OTIFNE (On Time In Full No Errors) performance requirement ensuring client satisfaction
•   Ensure that we perform in line with the clients’ expectations where realistic
•   Assist team members as necessary to maintain service levels at all times
•  Adhere to the values of the organisation at all times

Skills & Competencies    
Knowledge:                                

• Knowledge of SAA and Customs Release Processes of cargo.

 Key Responsibilities

• Ensure close liaison with clients in that they are continually updated via telephonic or electronic feedback on the status of their clearances and delivery of their cargo.  All pertinent instructions and key issues to be noted on the file in our operating system.                                
• Responsible for regular client visits thereby soliciting information on clients business requirements, understanding client's potential problem areas, investigating competitor activities and networking                              
• Ensure close liaison and correspondence with Vessel Agents, groupage agents, TNPA, TPT, TFR, unpack depots, container parks and other third parties as and when necessary.                                
• Regular monitoring of the status of import shipments to ensure that there are no delays in the clearance process - from time of receipt of documents to time of invoicing and delivery.   Where delays occur, ensure the necessary action is undertaken to resolve with applicable department or staff concerned and the reasons for the delays are noted on the file in our operating system.                                
• To back up the Senior and/or Client Controllers as required.                                
• Ensure all reconciliation, debtors and other Seafreight import related queries are actioned as per department standard.                                
• Being pro-active in looking after clients’ interests by ensuring we limit extraneous costs to our clients as well as limiting our liability by taking an interest in all matters pertaining to the clients’ dealings with BPL.           
• Attending client functions and luncheons together with regular client visits to ensure we have a full understanding of their special requirements as well as continuously building long-term relationships.                         
• Upon receipt of documents, check to ensure all necessary documentation received to effect Customs Clearance                                
• Ensure strict adherence to BCS (Business Compliance System).                                
• Ensure adequate feedback in respect of any operational or service related issues at departmental meetings.                                
• Support the Import Clerks and Import Controllers with advise and actions (as a team leader)

Knowledge:

• Supply Chain knowledge advantageous.
• Strong proven working knowledge of International Forwarding.
• Working knowledge of Seafreight Imports processes.
• Working experience using CargoWise.
• Must be numerate.
• Good working knowledge of incoterms.
• Good knowledge of freight rates and related charges.
• Good knowledge of shipping lines and airline from various regions.
• Good knowledge of understanding estimates and implementing against indents received.
• Good knowledge of container equipment.
• Highly developed geographic knowledge.
• Knowledge of customs requirements.
• Financial knowledge regarding the file profitability/loss.
