    Canteen Supervisor

    The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

    • Full responsibility for all labour related issues including, ensuring that All positions are managed at all times.
    • Dealing with all disciplinary matters appropriately and according to the  Company’s disciplinary code.
    • Full control of the canteen  processes and responsibility for maintaining canteen Standards.
    • Planning, organizing and monitoring the day to day operations of the Canteen and Laundry including daily record keeping.
    • Prepare and present quality food for the staff and company visitors within the company’s guidelines and catering for company functions.
    • Continued interaction and communication with all senior management.
    • Managing canteen budget.
    • Maintaining and implementing 20 keys principles including Health & Safety of the department.
    • Adhering to Astral ethics policy.

    The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

    • A Matric Certificate / Equivalent.
    • 2 – 3 years’ experience in a canteen and production environment.
    • Good supervisory and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Must have Administrative skill.
    • Events co-ordination and planning.
    • Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure.
    • Manage staff professionally and lead by example.

    Electrical Foreman

    Qualifications: 

    • Electrical Trade Certificate (Section 13 and served apprenticeship)
    • Minimum N4 qualification electrical theory
    • HT Switching certificate will be an added advantage
    • Wireman’s license, PLC programming and fault-finding experience will be a distinct advantage
    • A supervisory / management qualification will be an added advantage

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in the electrical maintenance/repair of Poultry processing and rendering plant equipment will be  a distinct advantage
    • Proven leadership experience
    • Computer literate with MS Office

    Other requirements:

    • Willing to do shift work and overtime, including weekends as may be required
    • Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment and deadline driven
    • Must have own reliable transport
    • Fluent in English and an additional official language

    The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

    • Manage all routine maintenance on processing equipment
    • Manage all unscheduled processing interruptions resulting from breakdowns
    • Installation and maintenance on processing equipment
    • Continuous interaction and communication with management and subordinates
    • Manage, implement and adhere to the 20 Keys system, HACCP, Risk Control, OHS, EFSIS and all other systems must be adhered to at all times
    • Maintain and comply with the South African National Standard SANS1042 Wiring Code
    • Be present at start-up and all start-up procedures must be followed at all times
    • Must ensure that all shut down procedures are adhered to after the end of the last shift of the week or public holiday
    • Liaison with other Foremen regarding outstanding maintenance, and projects, timekeeping, safety & security matters, and all other matters related to the maintenance team
    • Report and audit machine electrical and mechanical defects
    • Control and audit maintenance documentation
    • Attend to any disciplinary requirements and follow the disciplinary code
    • Assist with training and development of staff
    • Continuous interaction and communication with management and subordinates
    • Maintain housekeeping standards

    Department Head (Dispatch)

    Required Qualification:

    • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

    Required Experience:

    • Experience in a logistics/distribution environment is essential
    • Proven experience in a supervisory role
    • Proven experience in large-scale food production and processing
    • Computer literacy – MS Office
    • Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintaining the correct and approved staff complement on the relevant shift
    • Responsible for all labour-related issues, including ensuring that all positions are managed at all times
    • Dealing with all disciplinary matters appropriately and according to the company’s disciplinary code
    • Picking and loading of vehicles
    • Responsible for housekeeping
    • Assisting with stock takes
    • Ensuring correct allocation and picking of stock
    • Continued interaction and communication with senior management
    • Maintaining and implementing the 20 Keys principles, including Health & Safety of the department

    Other Requirements:

    • Fluent in English and a second official language
    • Have the ability to cope under pressure and manage staff professionally
    • Be hardworking, honest and self-motivated
    • Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime as required

    Store Controller

    The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

    • Ensuring proper housekeeping of the stores and work areas.
    • Daily and monthly stock counts and investigate variances.
    • Receiving of stock from suppliers.
    • Issuing and recording of stock issued.
    • Maintaining 20 Keys.
    • Comply with HACCP Standards and FSSC and Allergen Management Procedures.
    • Recording of goods received vouchers.
    • Assist Buyer.
    • Expedite and do call offs on stock ordered.
    • Shelf life of products and ingredients.

      The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

    • Matric.
    • Store qualification or 3 years’ experience.
    • Must be fluent in English and have excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Must have above average numerical skills.
    • Computer literate.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Effective time management.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Must be willing to work overtime and on public holidays.
    • Knowledge of HACCP standards.

    Senior Rearing Manager

    The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

    • Managing all Rearing Farm processes of Cosmos & Vlakfontein with the aim of maximizing production and quality of POL birds.
    • Managing all labour related issues and dealing with grievances and disciplinary matters.
    • Managing all resources and assets of the Company.

    The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

    • A Matric Certificate / Equivalent.
    • Relevant degree / diploma in agriculture.
    • Proven experience in the poultry business and management for a minimum period of 5 (five) years.
    • Able to communicate and liase at all levels.
    • Proven administrative Skills.
    • Computer literate.
    • In-depth knowledge of all legal requirements for the fair application of disciplinary and resolution of grievances.
    • It is essential that the candidate have a passion for implementing and maintaining 20 Keys.
