    Maintenance Planner

    The core competencies for this position include:

    • Undertaking planning, scheduling and reporting of maintenance functions for a variety of equipment throughout the plant.
    • Planning work and preparing work packages for scheduling
    • Preparing weekly maintenance work schedules for equipment in your area, ensuring the appropriate preparation, availability and allocation of material and equipment resources to achieve planned outcomes.
    • Working with the Maintenance Coordinators to ensure the best use of the artisan's and technician’s skills in weekly maintenance schedules.
    • Reviewing condition monitoring reports and creating corrective action work.
    • Monitoring and providing feedback on cost performance as well as assisting with the preparation of maintenance budgets.
    • Identifying improvement opportunities and implementing planning process changes along with analysing maintenance history data on equipment performance to ensure that the appropriate maintenance frequencies and practices are in place.
    • Maintaining the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to ensure ongoing effectiveness as well as interrogating the Maximo database for equipment history in order to ensure data accuracy and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Developing and maintaining effective networks through collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers and suppliers.

    Requirements

    The core requirements and competencies for this position include:

    • N6 Engineering/Technical qualification or equivalent (preferably Mechanical or Electrical).
    • A recognised apprenticeship and trade test.
    • At least 5 years’ maintenance experience in a large manufacturing environment.
    • Planning experience would be an added advantage.
    • Understanding and exposure to our Computerised Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
    • MS Project Skills would be an added advantage.
    • Highly motivated with a passion for planning,
    • The ability to work in a manufacturing team and to interface with all team members.
    • Understanding of Purchasing practices and order placement.

    Engineer-Control

    The core competencies for this position include:

    Reliability Engineer

    The core responsibilities of the position include:

    • Custodian of and performs critical analysis of Assets and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects, identify spares and enhance overall asset reliability.
    • Custodian of Condition Monitoring activities (Vibration, Tribology and Thermography).
    • To identify, investigate, motivate, and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centres.
    • To work closely with the departmental Maintenance Planner to ensure that equipment reliability tasks are programmed into the CMMS (checks and inspections).
    • To provide support to the department’s maintenance team, especially in the event of significant breakdowns.
    • To have an active management role during outages, assisting the maintenance team in managing the shutdown workload.
    • To remain up to date with technology changes, ensuring that equipment/system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.
    • Complete Failure Analyses on all breakdowns as well as analysing all failure data to prevent repeat failures.
    • Does RCM-type analyses on problem areas and proposes new or amended Preventative or Predictive Maintenance Schedules
    • Identifies training needs and training providers to improve the skill base and mentor apprentices or trainee technicians.
    • Planning and managing improvement projects related to their investigations.
    • Remains in touch with technology and advises on possible improvements with current systems.
    • Performs a standby duty to the plant to ensure that there is management support for after-hours work.
    • Performs incident investigations and completes the required documentation and notifications.

    Requirements

    The core requirements and competencies of this position include:

    • Minimum requirements are a BSc in Engineering or a BEng university degree.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Reliability Engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge and competency in problem-solving techniques, as well as root cause and fault-finding experience.
    • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Maximo/SAP, Word, etc.), report writing skills and presentation skills.
    • Clear leadership qualities with the ability to coordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns and project work.
    • The ability to work in a manufacturing team and interface with all members of the team.
    • A proactive and solid work ethic.

    Commodity Buyer

    Description

    • Effectively conducting Purchase to Pay (P2P) activities (e.g. requests for quote (RFQ), proposals, supplier negotiations, etc.) to secure supply in accordance with Group Procurement policy and procedure, at the lowest total cost and risk to the business.
    • Manage a portfolio of spend commodities assigned to you.
    • Manage a number of internal departments as the Purchasing representative for those departments.
    • Creating and processing orders in the Maximo system, based on purchase  requisitions received from the business.
    • Leading the development and implementation of Sourcing Strategies and Supply Contracts for Commodity spend in line with the overall business objectives.
    • Ensure best value for money is obtained in conjunction with the achievement of BBBEE objectives.
    • Administrative functions aligned to fulfilment of the Requisition to Pay process.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing / Supply Chain / Commerce is highly recommended.
    • Training in Purchasing (P2P) or Procurement (Sourcing) will be an advantage.
    • Ideally having at least five years of Procurement or Purchasing experience, with some specific experience in commodity buying and contract implementation / management.
    • Experience with issuing and evaluating tender (RFQ) enquiries, fact-based negotiation, and analytical capabilities would be an advantage.
    • Good communication, inter-personal, influencing, dealing with conflict and criticism skills and aptitude (EQ).Strong negotiating and numerical skills.
    • A high level of integrity, ethics and attention to detail.
    • Computer literate with good knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products, and a purchase-to-pay transactional system. Knowledge and experience with Maximo, or best-of-breed Procurement systems e.g. Coupa, Ivalua, etc., would be an advantage.
    • Experience with spend analysis in delivering value opportunities will be an advantage.

    Process Technician

    Key Responsibilities

    Process Control & Optimisation

    • Monitor and optimise the UBC cleaning line to ensure effective contaminant removal and stable furnace feed.
    • Oversee scrap segregation and formatting to ensure alloy compliance and quality standards.
    • Support Induction Furnace operations, including charge make-up and yield optimisation.
    • Identify and address process deviations through basic root cause analysis.

    Material Flow & Integration

    • Coordinate material flow between scrap preparation areas and the Recycling Furnace.
    • Ensure alignment with production plans and alloy specifications.

    Continuous Improvement & Reporting

    • Analyse process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Support cost reduction, yield improvement, and best practice implementation.

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with safety (OHSA), environmental, and quality standards.
    • Maintain high housekeeping standards aligned to 5S principles.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Metallurgy to improve reliability and product quality.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

    • Diploma in Metallurgy or Industrial Engineering.
    • Experience in aluminium recycling, melting, or scrap handling is advantageous.
    • Exposure to furnace operations and industrial manufacturing environments is preferred.
    • Understanding of aluminium alloys, contamination risks, and recycling process controls.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards) within a manufacturing environment.
    • Working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance requirements.
    • Results-driven with a continuous improvement orientation.
