    BDO Wave_ACCA Trainee Accountant_2027 Intake (Gqeberha) (Port Elizabeth)

    Description

    • The ACCA Accountant Traineeship is a 3-year training Contract whereby you will gain the relevant experience in order to register as a Chartered Certified Accountant with ACCA.
    • The Trainee Accountant vacancies are for January 2027 where first-year trainees will start their training contract within the BDO Wave Audit division based in Gqeberha. The training contract will ensure that you obtain the support to write the strategic level exams and achieve the competencies required to register with ACCA.     Roles & Responsibilities:

    Audit (Technical)

    • Assist in the delivery of audits from planning through to completion, gaining exposure to the full audit cycle
    • Support planning activities by preparing audit planning documents, creating system notes, and contributing to risk assessments
    • During execution, perform audit procedures across financial statement areas such as payroll, cash and bank, revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and property, plant and equipment (PPE)
    • Evaluate evidence to assess whether there is a risk of material misstatement within financial data and document findings clearly
    • Escalate issues identified to senior team members and assist in resolving queries
    • Contribute to completion procedures, including final analytical reviews, clearing outstanding queries, preparing completion checklists, and assisting in drafting audit reports
    • Develop professional judgement by linking audit findings to business risks and industry context

    Administration

    • Complete monthly feedback forms by requesting input from managers on work performed during audit engagements
    • Track and update monthly skills reviews within the Learning & Training System (LTS) to monitor competencies obtained, supporting sign-off at the end of the training contract

    Talent Acquisition Specialist (JHB Illovo)

    Primary Purpose of the Job

    • The Talent Acquisition Specialist will play a critical role in the day-to-day candidate sourcing activities and within the Talent Acquisition team. This role will coordinate all the sourcing activities but also closely work together with P&C Managers, hiring managers, other members of the People and Culture team. 
    • Activities include managing the various sourcing channels and the company’s talent pool and regularly interacting with both active and passive candidates. You should be a friendly, proactive, and self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Communicates with P&C Manager for the available positions and their requirements
    • Co-develops and implements an effective sourcing strategy
    • Works together with the P&C Manager and hiring manager to define sourcing strategy and candidate briefs 
    • Sources suitable candidates through various sourcing channels
    • Drafts and sends out recruiting emails to potential candidates 
    • Utilises the various sourcing channels effectively 
    • Utilises sourcing tools and technology effectively
    • Conducts 1st interviews 
    • Maintains social media and professional networks to interact with potential candidates
    • Promotes BDO’s Employer Brand in interaction with candidates on various platforms

    Qualifications

    • A degree in human resources management, organizational psychology, or a related field.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 6 years proven work experience as a Talent Acquisition specialist with extensive sourcing/research capability
    • Hands-on experience with sourcing techniques (e.g. recruiting on social platforms and crafting Boolean search strings)
    • Familiarity with HR databases, and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) 
    • Experience working on Direct Hire advantageous

    Business Development Administrator (Western Cape)

    Job Purpose:

    • The Business Development Administrator plays a pivotal role in supporting the firm’s growth strategy by providing operational and administrative assistance across business development initiatives.     General/Ad hoc Support
