    Technical Sales Representative Steel and Middle Market Buckman

    A Technical Sales Representative position has become available in the Primary Metals, Power and Light manufacturing Division, based in Middelburg.

    Qualifications

    • A Diploma /BSc degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Water Care qualification is required or 8 years relevant industry experience.

    Experience

    • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the water treatment and process industry. Experience in in day-to-day handling of a complex plant with multiple applications will be an advantage.

    Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

    • Ensure sustainability and growth of a specific account/accounts by conducting the following activities in accordance with “The Buckman Way”.
    • Retain and expand business to grow sales and profit margins to achieve business objectives.
    • Ensure existing applications and equipment are maintained and technical services are performed to ensure optimal performance.
    • Ensure that the sales efforts are aligned with Buckman marketing strategy.
    • Maintain and improve SHERQ performance to deliver targeted sales at the lowest possible risk to the company.
    • Ensuring that all projects and Continuous Improvement opportunities are driven, documented and prioritized.

    Account Manager - Mining

    An Account Manager position has become available in the Mining Industry Division, based in Carletonville. The purpose is to execute business and sales strategies through managing, leading, and directing the account/area’s team in the implementation of key initiatives that support the on-going sustainability and profitability of the division.

    Qualifications

    • BSc Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Metallurgy or, Chemical Engineering is a pre-requisite, and a Post Graduate Business Qualification will be advantageous (e.g. MDP).

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5-10 years of 5 years technical sales experience.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

    • Managing the sales account to execute Buckman Africa sales strategies and meet stakeholder requirements to fund growth of the Company.
    • Effectively retaining and expanding business to grow sales and profit margins to achieve business objectives
    • Ensuring the execution of an effective marketing strategy
    • Coach and mentor fellow Buckman associates on Water Treatment applications.
    • Leading, directing and managing teams to ensure they have clear direction, effective leadership and are well motivated and aligned.
    • Managing and implementing Continuous Improvements and Projects.
    • Management of current customers and developments of new business.
    • Maintaining and improving SHERQ performance to deliver targeted sales at the lowest possible risk to the company.
    • Ensuring that all projects and Continuous Improvement opportunities are driven, documented and prioritized.

    Technical Sales Assistant - IWT Mining

    A Technical Sales Assistant position has become available in the IWT Division within the Mining Industry, based in the North West area of Brits/Rustenburg.                                        

    • Qualification - Suitable candidates will have Matric. Mathematics and/or Physical Science will be advantageous.
    • Experience - Suitable applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the mining water treatment and/or process industry. 
    • A driver’s license, computer literacy, basic proficiency in Microsoft packages and understanding of business systems is a necessity.

    The successful candidate will be a people-person, practically orientated, able to handle pressure, a problem solver and a team member who is self-motivated. They must be able to communicate at all levels, be organized and self disciplined.

    They must be prepared to travel extensively, and must be physically fit and able to work under ground in the mining industry or at physically challenging plants on surface. The career is challenging but with all associated benefits of employment in a multi-national company.  

    The incumbent will be responsible for the following inter alia:

    • Account Management - Ensure product stewardship of a specific account/accounts by conducting all activities in accordance with “The Buckman Way”;
    • Technical Services - Ensure existing applications and equipment are maintained and technical services are performed to ensure optimal performance;
    • SHERQ Management - Maintain and improve SHERQ performance to deliver targeted sales at the lowest possible risk to the company.
    • Basic daily duties will include (but will not be limited to) the following;
    • Filling of dosing tanks from chemical storage area (transfers to 29 areas/48 applications)
    • Daily checks  (and adjustments where required) of all dosing equipment (29 areas)
    • Weekly sampling off all treated systems
    • Daily safety meeting
    • Condition monitoring
    • Application for HIRA (Hazzard Identification and Risk Assessment) acceptance and sign-off (this may take up to 2 hours per HIRA)
    • Housekeeping in our chemical storage area as well as our analyses container
    • CO fan area dosing checks – according to HFC safety rules, always 2x people required
