    IT Risk Specialist

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Hello…an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our HINT, Risk & Compliance  area. We are looking to recruit a It Risk Specialist.
    • The IT Risk Specialist as a second line of defence role will be responsible for assisting HINT subsidiary teams with maturing the internal control environment through the embedding of adequately designed and effectively operating IT controls. Key focus areas will include IT Governance risk assessments, IT general controls, continuous monitoring and related controls self-assessments.
    • The  IT Risk Specialist will execute specialised IT risk assessments in line with best practice frameworks COSO, COBIT, SANs 18 and DMBOK and apply a risk-based prioritisation approach in implementing IT Risk Management plans across all Hollard International operations. Risk support to HINT country operational business unit functions will comprise evaluating operating effectiveness assessments for IT governance, ITGC’s and IT security to enable the achievement of a satisfactory control IT control environment.

    Operational / Technical:

    • IT risk assessments in accordance with the approved HINT ERM framework.
    • Arrange and attend risk assessment kick-off and close-out meetings.
    • Develop a sound understanding of business processes, risks and controls including relevant regulatory and accounting issues.
    • Assesses the design adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment and identify control gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Perform strategic digital reviews across information technology areas such as, data governance, disaster recovery and business continuity.
    • Identify process, information and control gaps and seek additional information if necessary.
    • Document detailed working papers.
    • Document findings and discussion with client in terms of factual correctness – asks for support where necessary.
    • Review own working papers for quality and completeness before sending to the Head of Risk and Compliance for review.
    • Ensure all review queries are cleared within a reasonable timeframe (expectation 48 hours).
    • Focus on problem solving/high risk areas during the audit.
    • Communicate any delays or difficulties experienced for corrective action.
    • Track risk assessment process status for allocated areas of responsibility and effectively communicate any anticipated challenges, delays, etc.
    • Communicates knowledge gained throughout the audit engagement and/or otherwise with the team members.
    • Conduct the review of review of controls self-assessments performed by operational teams.
    • Present training on ITGC to HINT operational business unit teams.
    • Assisting HINT subsidiaries and Risk officers with IT Governance risk assessments including Data Governance.
    • Developing Information Technology General Controls (ITGC’s) control self-assessments for the HINT subsidiaries.
    • Supporting HINT subsidiaries with the enablement of Continuous Controls Monitoring (CCM) through validation and clearing of exceptions and data quality validations.
    • Periodic testing of for segregation of duties, user access management, and change management.
    • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Effectively build and maintain rapport and maintain business relationships with process owners and stakeholders.
    • Professional and effective communication.

    Reporting:

    • Ensure that information generated is accurate, valid and comprehensive prior to review and/or reporting
    • Draft and discuss own findings for inclusion in risk reports.
    • Take responsibility to clear and finalise all own reported findings/reporting points.
    • Assisting HINT subsidiaries with all Risk Management system related queries and reporting.
    • Maintaining IT Risk reporting dashboards provision of periodic reports.

    Financial:

    • Manage time in line with the allocated budget and communicate any potential delays or overruns to management.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • At least 4 years IT audit experience (not limited to IT general control reviews).
    • Demonstrate an understanding of risk management, auditing standards and procedures
    • Experience in managing stakeholders and completing the full audit lifecycle (planning, fieldwork and reporting).

    Knowledge

    • Risk based audit methodology.
    • Knowledge of COBIT, ITIL, COSO and related frameworks.
    • Computer infrastructure, networks, basic security and IT controls
    • Advanced understanding business continuity and disaster recovery.
    • Intermediate understanding of IT, data and privacy related legislation/regulation.
    • Basic business and financial understanding.
    • Basic insurance knowledge (an advantage).

    Senior Specialist: Regulatory Affairs and Compliance

    Job Advert Summary    

    • This role will be responsible for helping to form and express a central group view about regulatory changes across the Hollard Group. This involves:
    • Providing a central point of contact with the financial services sector regulators (such as the Prudential Authority, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, National Credit Regulator, and Financial Intelligence Centre) to ensure timeous collation and submission of information with such regulators (e.g. maintaining regulatory returns and coordinating engagements with the regulators).
    • Supporting the Senior Manager with identifying, escalating, and managing regulatory risk.
    • Maintaining an understanding legislation affecting the Group in order to provide support and solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support a working relationship with key internal stakeholders from the different Business units, Head of Control Functions and all central function to ensure you are able to identify who is required as part of the commenting process.
    • Support the Senior Manager with engagements with the financial services sector regulators, namely, Information Regulator, BBBEE Commissioner, Competition Law Commissioner.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, prepare and maintain a formal communications plan to facilitate the scheduling of essential meetings and encouraging information sharing to maintain effective relationships with the authorities.
    • Give input into established Hollard forums to communicate, share information, participate in engagements and provide commentary on regulations impacting the broader group as well as conduct and training as and when required.
    • Collate data and provide trends, analysis and recommendations to mitigate market conduct risks to assist with driving a mature conduct discipline.
    • Coordinate statutory engagements with the regulators inter alia:
    • Ensure that requests and queries received from regulators are appropriately routed within Hollard and responded to consistently (considering previous submissions) and timeously;
    • Collate, consider with the Senior Manager and then submit applications and reports to applicable regulators within the timelines;
    • Co-ordinate onsite visits, thematic investigations and ad-hoc engagements between the regulators and Hollard;
    • Assist the Senior Manager with ensuring business is prepared for the regulatory engagements and provide guidance, support, and management of any resulting mitigating actions.
    • Monitor and analyse regulatory developments and advise on how the proposed changes will affect current and proposed business activities. In addition, advise on the impact of the company's strategy on the organisation's inherent regulatory risk;
    • Coordinate Hollard’s review, input to and potential lobbying activity related to new or revised relevant legislation and regulation.
    • Assist with drafting and presenting overviews for information sessions/ interventions.
    • Maintain industry networks and occasionally represent the group in industrywide affiliations/ memberships in order to increase industry expertise and acquire insight into international regulatory agendas in order to benchmark Group actions and experiences.
    • Assist with the annual review process, collation and sign off, of the Hollard Regulatory Universe across the different BUs.
    • Managing and retaining records of changes and current state is paramount.
    • Assist with adhoc overall Group Compliance responsibilities as and when required.
    • Manage the administration function within the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance areas

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • 7 years’ relevant experience
    • Financial services industry experience required, with previous experience in an insurance company highly advantageous
    • Understanding of Twin Peaks model of financial sector regulation
    • Previous FAIS licence and legal entity reporting desirable
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills to prepare regulatory documentation and communication with internal stakeholders and regulators.
    • Detailed understanding of the regulators’ approach to conduct risk management, product governance, corporate governance, assurance frameworks, organisational systems / controls and key customer interfaces and related issues across the industry
    • Thorough understanding of Insurance and Financial services with the keen ability to have ‘bigger picture’ thinking

    Broker Consultant (PTA)

    Job Purpose

    • To develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with brokers in order to attract and grow a profitable portfolio, ensuring a deep understanding of broker needs and delivering proactive portfolio management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Sales and Marketing: Obtain new business from brokers and develop relationships with existing and new brokers. Manage the growth (including organic growth) of the division. Sell Hollard products to brokers and/or agents using consultative selling techniques. Contribute to effective marketing of the Company products by answering questions, resolve problems on topics such as policy status, billing, etc, and explaining new or revised products and processes.  Make presentations to brokers and/or agents
    • Account Management: Meet goals for volume and value of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines. Management of own portfolio. Recommend or implement changes to improve productivity, profitability, growth and the quality of assigned book of business. Service, grow and maintain renewal policies. Confirm rating and cover on endorsements requested. Review segment profit/growth results and trends to recommend and implement action plans to produce profitable underwriting results. Ensure that all premiums are received and up to date on all accounts in portfolio. In collaboration with credit control review and discuss all outstanding premiums and arrears with Brokers on a monthly basis.
    • Underwriting/Risk Analysis Analyze qualitative and quantitative data prepared by brokers to provide approval for risk selection and acceptance, coverage and price.  Recommend creative alternatives in regards to rating plans, coverage and payment plans. Decline unsuitable risks.  Ensure that policy transactions (quotes, new business, endorsements, renewals, post loss, cancellations) are issued and changes recorded accurately and in a timely manner by rating and/or capturing transactions to the core business system.  Ensure reinsurance is in place, where applicable.
