Job Description

• iqx the Technology Division of iqbusiness is seeking an experienced Java Spring Developer to join its software engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications that support critical banking services.
• This role is ideal for a developer who is passionate about building scalable, high-performance backend systems while collaborating within agile, cross-functional teams. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design through to deployment and production support, while following engineering best practices and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications using Spring Boot.
• Develop secure, scalable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Build and execute automated unit tests using JUnit to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Manage application builds and dependencies using Gradle or Maven.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker.
• Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, QA engineers, and frontend developers to deliver high-quality banking solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance enhancements.
• Ensure solutions comply with the bank's security, governance, and coding standards.
• Stay current with emerging Java technologies, development frameworks, and engineering best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Java Certification or equivalent Java-related certification.
• Experience with modern software engineering practices and DevOps.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools, coding assistants, or Agentic AI technologies would be advantageous.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong Java development experience (Java 11+ preferred).
• Solid experience with the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of JUnit and automated testing practices.
• Experience using Gradle or Maven.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
• Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Basic knowledge of frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern frameworks is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development methodologies.

Experience Required

• 5+ years of professional Java software development experience.
• Proven experience developing enterprise-scale applications using Spring Boot.
• Experience working within Agile software delivery teams.
• Financial services or banking industry experience would be advantageous.

This role will involve deep engagement with existing applications and legacy systems, often working with incomplete documentation, to uncover their functionalities and potential improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct current-state analysis to evaluate existing systems and identify areas for improvement.
• Engage in reverse-engineering of applications where documentation is lacking, outdated, or fragmented.
• Perform impact and root-cause analysis to aid in problem resolution and system enhancements.
• Model processes, services, integrations, and data flows to support business needs.
• Facilitate collaboration with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that the systems align with business objectives.
• Develop and document comprehensive functional specifications for system modifications and enhancements.
• Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation purposes.
• Leverage SQL and Azure to support data integrations and application development initiatives.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in systems analysis, technical business analysis, software engineering, or application analysis within a complex enterprise environment.
• Proven capability in reverse-engineering applications and legacy platforms with limited documentation.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on current-state analysis, impact analysis, and root-cause analysis.
• Proficiency in modelling processes, services, integrations, and data flows.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, SQL, and Azure is essential.
• Experience in .Net framework and application development is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Certifications in systems analysis, business analysis, or relevant technologies are advantageous.
• Previous experience working in a banking or financial services environment.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
