- IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- A National Diploma or B.Eng. Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professionally registered as a Civil Engineer or a Geotechnical Engineer (advantageous)
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering will be advantageous
- Valid South African Driving License.
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- Min 8+ years specialising in tailings and geotechnical engineering
- Proven experience in the mining industry
- Ability to analyse and understand metallurgical, Mechanical & Civil engineering information
- Proficient in relevant software applications related to the job
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments
Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Understand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under relevant South African legislation.
- Obtain all necessary permits and approvals for the construction and management of the TSF
- Development of SOP’s and a proactive approach to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements of Ivanplats and South Africa’s statutory requirements
- Ensure that the required tailings deposition infrastructure, methods, and operations, as well as embankment design work, are in accordance with Ivanplats’ operational requirements.
- Efficient and effective management of Contractors to ensure equipment availability and safe operations
- Accountability for all aspect of the performance and management of the TSF & Water Dam facilities
- Compiling all required reporting including daily, weekly and monthly monitoring reports
- Monitor project progress and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions if necessary.
- Communicate all design-related decisions and outcomes to the Ivanplats management and advise on any necessary changes.
- Ensure that access routes are properly maintained and report any required remedial actions
- Develop a comprehensive risk management plan for the TSF construction, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the use of field instrumentation such as settlement gauges, piezometers, and inclinometers to monitor ground conditions.
- Establish clear communication protocols for all stakeholders involved in the TSF construction and operation.
- Apply the Ivanplats principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for your safety and others to ensure zero harm and the elimination of fatalities and loss-time Injuries in accordance with the Ivanplats Standards and Mine Health and Safety Act.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in post-construction reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future TSF projects.

- Drills and blasts earth and rock excavations to construct underground shafts and tunnels for projects.
- Provision of required support to the crew when necessary.
- Conducts risk assessments.
- Marking off of support.
- Charging up the face and safe blasting.
- Provide information to the control room for the compilation of shift/work reports.
- Legal accountability for stopping panel/ development end and blasting in terms of the MHSA.
- Work in an underground zone.

- We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Controller to join our team. This role is responsible for capturing, tracking, and reconciling project costs, ensuring accuracy in payment processing, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams to support effective cost management and project delivery. cost control required to assist the project team in managing project costs accurately.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
Cost Control duties:
Payment and Invoice Management
- Capture payment certificates based on invoices received.
- Ensure payment certificates are signed off by relevant package managers, budget holders, and project managers.
- Follow up on all outstanding invoices promptly to avoid delays.
- Verify that payments are allocated to the correct package with all supporting documentation checked and signed by relevant parties.
- Generate accruals in Costrac and prepare accrual reports for JDE.
- Maintain and update the invoice tracking sheet between Projects and Finance.
Project Cost Control & Forecasting
- Assist in reconciling project procurement costs with the Procurement Operating Plan (POP).
- Facilitate the creation of package numbers for proper incorporation in the POP.
- Generate package numbers in both Costrac and JDE.
- Support the development of Final Forecast Costs (FFC), proactively identifying risks and recommending mitigations.
- Assist with monthly forecasting updates, compiling relevant reports and cost trend analyses.
- Monitor costs and commitments to ensure alignment with budget and forecast.
- Analyse and report budget and cost variances, providing updated commentary on deviations between budget, forecast, and FFC.
- Upload Final Forecast Cost (FFC) in Costrac.
Change Management and Reporting
- Generate Change Notices (CN) in Costrac, prepare supporting Excel documentation, and manage the approval process in line with Ivanplats Delegation of Authority (DoA).
- Update and maintain the current budget in line with approved CNs.
- Assist with preparation of monthly reports, dashboards, and cost sheets for approval.
- Facilitate month-end meetings with Project Managers to review forecasts and cost updates.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, particularly Procurement and Finance, to ensure cost data accuracy and timely reporting.
- Provide support to Project Managers and other stakeholders for effective cost control decision-making.
