    Business Manager - Sasolburg

    Qualifications

    • Chartered Accountant or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Chemical Engineering qualification 

    Experience

    • 2+ years’ experience working with Board and Executive level
    • Proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management
    • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
    • Effective, versatile and action-oriented
    • Excellent communication skills, inclusive of written English

    Duties

    • Participates in program management for the General Manager of Manufacturing, which involves duties on a weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis
    • Organises and gathers information from various departments and meetings and reports that information, along with recommendations, to executive members in the required format
    • Coordinates and directs communication for the General Manager of Manufacturing by filtering only the most essential communication and controlling meeting schedules where required
    • Strategically manages the General Manager of Manufacturing’s time through looking at the long-term travel calendar, evaluating opportunities and determining fit with priorities
    • Participates in meeting preparations and follows up by reviewing upcoming meetings for the week to ensure all the necessary information is received as well as sending out agendas or documents to meeting attendees as necessary for meetings arranged
    • Reviews internal and external communications by drafting reports, speeches or presentations for the General Manager of Manufacturing. Research, write, edit and/or coordinate preparation of special reports, briefings and presentations as required by the General Manager of Manufacturing
    • Monitors information flow by acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring the General Manager of Manufacturing’s involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment
    • Assists the General Manager of Manufacturing by identifying new potential projects and initiatives which complement the strategic alignment of the business and determine their technical and financial feasibility
    • Co-ordinates and participates in strategic initiatives by leading, executing and reporting results back to the General Manager of Manufacturing
    • Leads the annual strategic planning process for the company by acting as a project manager and ensuring alignment with the General Manager of Manufacturing and leadership team.
    • Creates and updates dashboards for reviewing key performance indicators
    • Overseeing large, often cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives.
    • Brings together multiple stakeholders and helps drive decision-making
    • Researching, benchmarking, analyzing data, and making recommendations
    • Participates in systems and processes to streamline operations
    • Provide leadership and effective management in all areas of staffing and personnel, administration, project completion & other duties

    Junior Operations Manager - Gamsberg

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 (with Maths)
    • Diploma (Mining or Mechanical or Explosives Engineering) 

    Advantageous Requirements:

    Experience

    • 7 years’ demonstrated experience in a middle management position
    • Demonstrated a proven track record in an Operational / Explosives Mining Environment

    Duties

    • To supervise and report on blasting service delivery by utilising resources and managing costs effectively and efficiently in such a manner as to accomplish the operational objectives of the business.
    • To efficiently manage the operational service delivery value chain through a series of activities that meet customers' needs and expectations to ensure retention of current customers and increase new business opportunities for BME.
    • To effectively manage stock levels, storage areas, magazines, adherence to security procedures and movement of stock while loading and unloading of trucks, keeping in mind risks, costs and recordkeeping requirements as per SHERQ and BME's standards.
    • To exercise financial control and effective cost administration by ensuring that expenditure on site is managed inside the allocated budgets, risks are minimized and costs are managed in order to be in line with site objectives and customer needs.
    • To ensure that all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, OHS Act, and statutory requirements within the department/remit thus ensuring effective management of SHERQ and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on any organisation.
    • To supervise all aspects of human capital through the HR value chain and in accordance to legislation.
    • To ensure efficient and effective control of budget allocation in such a manner as to accomplish the strategic financial objectives of the region.
    • To timeously schedule and oversee the maintenance of equipment, vehicles and assets thus ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
    • To identify and implement employee development and skills transfer through various on boarding and training initiatives.

    Senior Blasting Technician - Kolomela

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
    • Competency B 

    Advantageous Requirements:

    • 2 years demonstrated experience in AXXIS mining technology or equivalent. 

    Experience

    • 3 years demonstrated experience in Mining / explosives environment
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in surface Blasting
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in people management 

    Duties

    Technical support 

    • To provide technical support and advice to the operations and clients about the implementation of training on blasts
    • Build and maintain good internal and external customer relationships.
    • Monitoring of equipment and analysing the performance thereof 

    Prevented/mitigated company risks 

    • To assist with all the relevant training and risk management documentation
    • Ensuring compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of  Occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on the organisation.
    • Promoting a safety conscious culture and ensuring adherence to all legislation. 

    Blast Quality Reviews 

    • Conduct and evaluate blast results using databases, instrumentation, blasting software’s (e.g. BME BlastMap software)
    • Write blast report writing as per requirements 

    Job Competencies

    Job Related Skills:

    • Intermediate skills in Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    • Technical skills in blast designs.
    • Research capability and skill
    • Ability to analyse scientific data.
