    Resource Geologist

    Job Advert Summary    

    • PPC Cement SA (Pty) Ltd is recruiting for a Resource Geologist to provide medium to long-term strategic resource modelling and mine planning support across group quarries and projects. The role is responsible for producing reliable Life-of-Mine (LOM) and phase plans, conducting resource/reserve evaluations and supporting the optimisation and scheduling of raw material deposits.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Honours Degree in Geology.
    • Minimum 5 years’ general geology and mining experience (exploration and/or mine site).
    • Computerised mine planning experience with proficiency in mine planning software (Surpac).
    • Exposure to scheduling and optimisation software (advantageous).
    • Specialised mining software knowledge and experience (Surpac), plus exposure to GIS and CAD software.
    • Proficiency in database tools (MS Excel and Access).
    • Knowledge of surface mining and carbonate geology, including prospecting and exploration.
    • Strong technical communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Resource Management and Modelling: Development and maintenance of geological databases, 3D modelling, geostatistical analysis, and block modelling, including resource and reserve reporting using SURPAC.
    • Technical Site Support: Addressing site-specific geological queries, quality-related issues, and broader resource management challenges.
    • Sustainable Extraction Practices: Supporting optimal extraction strategies aligned to grade control and stripping ratios to ensure long-term resource viability.
    • Resource Optimisation: Identifying alternative raw material sources and potential by-product opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
    • Mine Planning Integration: Contributing to the development and execution of annual mine plans across operations.
    • Governance and Compliance: Signing off on resource and reserve statements and supporting the annual audit process, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and independent audit standards (including IRBA compliance).

    Supervisor Stores

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    • Managing the process of purchasing, expediting, receipting, storekeeping and issuing of MRO spares and Direct orders on site
    • Compliance to Procurement and Warehousing Policies
    • Monitoring Inventory levels and processing of inventory transactions
    • Implement MRP for the site

    Minimum Requirements    
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3 Year Diploma – Purchasing Management/Storekeeping/Warehousing Or
    • B Tech Degree (Materials & Management / Purchasing Management / Supply Chain Management)
    • Code 08 Drivers Licence

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 Years exposure in the cement/mining industries, specifically in a Warehouse, Procurement or Materials Management environment

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Inventory Control

    • Administer inventory control and distribution of materials in centralized and remote storerooms
    • Direct and coordinate inventory control functions with Operations, Procurement,Information Technology and Finance departments.   
    • Direct the receiving, storing, distributing, and delivery of supplies and materials.
    • Evaluate the storeroom activities for accuracy and quality.
    • Manage the taking and maintenance of cycle counts
    • Master data updates

    Planning

    • Arrange and coordinate the physical movement of goods to the plant. In depth involvement in shutdowns and emergency/breakdown purchases.
    • Plan short and long-term objectives for the materials control function.
    • Allocate and organize resources (materials and people) to meet objectives.

    Supplier Onboarding and Communication

    • Onboarding of new suppliers. Ensure quality standards are met.

    Reporting

    • Weekly reporting of MRO inventory and any additional KPI reporting which may be required from time to time

    Internal Customer Service

    • Provide ongoing feedback to customers on open orders and delivery dates or delays in delivery. Ensure customer queries are resolved timeously. 

    Governance

    • Maintaining and adhere to procurement policy, processes and instructions. Comply with work rules, standards and methods
    • Review current methods and develop improved practices and procedures. 

    People Management

    • Manage the performance of direct reports and monitor adherence to expected standards
    • Offer guidance and support and if required take appropriate disciplinary action
    • Coach and train team members to perform optimally in their roles
    • Provide direct reports with opportunities for growth and development through on-the-job training and feedback
    • Supervise and direct subordinates in the storekeeping and distribution facilities.
    • Participate in the selection and appointment of new team members

    • Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned and greased.
    • Tyre management
    • Drive vehicle to and from sites and transport loads to ensure that work is carried out as scheduled.
    • Obtain and plan routes to be used to get to required sites.
    • Check for defaults on a continuous basis.
    • Operates mixer to off load the load.
    • Adhere to the traffic rules and regulations and all the relevant company set policies and procedures.
    • Daily instructions are received with regard to refuse removal

    Lubricator

    Job Advert Summary    

    • The Lubricator is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability and effective management of all lubricants required for plant operations. The role includes accurately logging and monitoring all oil and grease quantities used, carrying out lubrication of plant equipment in accordance with scheduled maintenance requirements or operational needs, and collecting oil and lubricant samples for analysis to support equipment reliability, condition monitoring, and preventative maintenance initiatives.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
    • N2 Mechanical Engineering certificate would be advantageous
    • Lubrication certification/training advantageous
    • In-house training in lubrication and maintenance work of oil sampling and identifying lubricants.
    • 2 years’ experience on lubrication & Mechanical equipment maintenance in processing Plant on mining industry or similar environment 
    • Driver’s License.
    • EMS, QMS, On key and other System skills. 

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Execution of Maintenance

    • Inspect lubrication systems for proper operation. Lubricate plant equipment by adhering to lubrication schedules. Ensure correct lubricant grades and quantities are used. Monitor oil levels, temperatures, leaks, and contamination. Perform planned and un-planned maintenance activities in a timeous and cost effective manner to the correct standard. Provide feedback to the Fitter/Foreman on the execution of work for Continuous Improvement. Maintain housekeeping standards. Assist with other maintenance activities as requested. 

    Communication and Reporting

    • Participate meaningfully in the departmental INVOCOMs. Achieve engineering Key Performance Indicators. Provide input into interdepartmental INVOCOMs. Report factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk.

    Governance and Risk Management

    • Adhere to SHE, legal, statutory and regulatory requirements. Minimise environmental non-conformances. Comply with disciplinary rules, regulations and procedures.
