Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Assist with task planning.
• Assist team leader with zero lost time in production due to metallurgical vessel availability.
• Assist with investigation on failure of mechanisms and propose correct measures.
• Inspect safe working order of equipment before use, report concerns in condition to team leader.
• Adherence to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure zero product wastage.
• Clean area of work after task is complete, return surplus products to the store.
• Be prepared to work overtime as determined by the refractory coordinator.
• Jointly responsible with refractory team for quality work output.

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

• Matric
• At least 3 years’ of experience in a Refractory environment

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Facilitate pre-employment driving assessments as part of the recruitment process
• Ensure that new drivers are trained on various onboard equipment i.e. Roro system, Skip system, trailers, Truck mounted cranes etc.
• Ensure that all newly appointed drivers are inducted on the company driver policy
• Ensure that all newly appointed drivers are trained on the Standard Operating Procedures
• Conduct annual driver assessments and provide feedback to management on all driver assessments in a report format
• Ensure proper record keeping of all assessments conducted
• Train newly appointed drivers on main routes to use, customer requirements procedures
• Train new drivers on the completion of company paper work to ensure compliance to company standards
• Ensure that new drivers are trained on how to conduct vehicle inspections to comply with safety rules and avoid vehicle breakdowns
• Train and evaluate existing drivers on a rotational basis or when required
• Abide by the regulations as set out in Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies and the regulations of the road

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a valid code 14 driver’s license with a (valid) PRDP
• Must have a Professional Driving national certificate
• Must be a registered assessor
• Must have excellent report writing skills
• Excellent knowledge of the National Road Traffic act
• Computer literate - full Microsoft suite
• 3-5 years working experience in a training environment
• Dangerous goods licence will be an added advantage
• Motivated and career orientated
• Good communication skills, (speak, read and write English)
• Prepared to work overtime when required
• Must be in good health
• Hands on practical approach to the job
