    Technical Accounting Officer (Outwards)

    What will you do?

    • Santam Re is looking for an individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to build good relationships. The successful incumbent’s main responsibility will entail executing the financial aspects of reinsurance, including the processing and accounting of reinsurance transactions, performing and managing control environment and resolving accounting queries with clients.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric
    • Relevant finance / accounting qualification or studying towards one
    • Minimum 3 years Reinsurance or insurance experience in a finance environment
    • Claims experience advantageous

    Technical Accounting Officer (Inwards)

    Role Overview

    • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Technical Accounting Officer to support the processing of premiums and claims, manage client queries, and assist with financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Process and reconcile reinsurance premiums and claims accurately and timeously
    • Manage and respond to client emails and queries in a professional manner
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to premiums and claims
    • Prepare and process payments in line with company procedures
    • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Minimum Requirements

    • Relevant finance or accounting qualification or studying towards one
    • Minimum 2 years experience in insurance or financial services environments in a similar role
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. data analysis, reconciliations, basic formulas)
    • Basic accounting knowledge (advantageous)
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Good communication and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
