    Chief Electrician, D2, NVC062/25GS

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Establish and maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to Electrical Engineering are developed, communicated and implemented on the operations and projects
    • Ensure that the operation’s electrical Code of Practice (COP) is developed and updated, and comply with Seriti requirements.
    • Develop, manage and maintain an electrical drawing database for the operation.
    • Check, communicate and ensure electrical legal compliance.
    • Perform oversight inspections and audits on electrical equipment to ensure compliance and ensure proper maintenance are completed.
    • Communicate and rollout Seriti standards and specifications, as well as operation’s procedures to the relevant electrical sections.
    • Enforce mandatory electrical standards and procedures and check compliance.
    • Ensure that isolation and lockout procedures are in place and up-to-date, and complied to.
    • Establish and execute a standardized process for addressing compliance issues at operations by making available all the required documentation for the section engineers to be able to make informed decisions
    • Confirm all reticulation modifications and/or changes for discrimination and load flow results.
    • Custodian of the protection setting and approve any changes made to relay trip settings.
    • Conduct compliance audits in line with legislation, standards and best practices when required and identify possible equipment failures and identify root causes
    • Provide technical advice and input to the operations and new projects with regards to Electrical Engineering
    • Keep abreast of new technologies and developments in Electrical Engineering
    • Effective project management of Electrical Engineering projects and Asset Optimisation initiatives ensuring best practice research and knowledge sharing
    • Financial Budgeting & Management
    • Actively participate in the Seriti Electrical User Group and Energy Management and Efficiency forums

    Requirements:

    • Electrical Engineering Degree or National Diploma or Electrical National N4 certificate
    • Recognized Electrical Trade Test certificate
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Engineering Foreman/General Engineering Supervisor (2.9.2. appointee)
    • Extensive technical experience in Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage equipment and infrastructure
    • In depth electrical experience and concepts
    • Safety & Risk Management courses
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Abreast of the latest technological developments, standards, designs and specifications in Electrical Engineering
    • Basic understanding of other Engineering disciplines, i.e. mechanical, and civil engineering
    • Knowledge of electrical equipment and systems used in the mining industry
    • Understanding of prevention techniques relating to flame proofing
    • Experience dealing with third parties (e.g. contractors, consultants, etc.).
    • Knowledge and understanding on the use of electrical software’s such as ETAP, Visio
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office and SAP
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness 

    Advantageous:

    • Experience in Opencast Coal Mining Operations
    • Working knowledge of Seriti engineering policies, procedures, standards and guidelines

    Environmental Officer, Construction

    Key responsibilities include:

    Environmental Compliance and Permits:

    • Be fully conversant with the conditions of all environmental permits issued for the project (Environmental Authorisations, General Authorisation, biodiversity permit, etc.).
    • Maintain the permits register and ensure that the necessary legal permits and / or licenses are in place and up to date.

    Environmental Management Programme Implementation:

    • Be fully conversant with the EMPrs.
    • Be familiar with the recommendations and mitigation measures of the EMPrs and and assist in the implementation of these measures.
    • Ensure that all stipulations within the EMPrs are communicated and adhered to by the Employees, Contractor(s).

    Site Environmental Responsibilities

    • Demarcate the construction area, clearly marking and communicating restricted, sensitive and no-go areas
    • Confine the development site to the demarcated area.
    • Conduct environmental audits with regards to the EMPrs and authorisations compliance (on the contractor’s EO (cEO)).
    • Assist the contractors in addressing environmental challenges on site.

    Assist in incident management:

    • Reporting environmental incidents to the Site Manager, ensuring that corrective action is taken, and lessons learnt shared.
    • Assist the contractor in investigating environmental incidents and compile investigation reports
    • Follow-up on pre-warnings, defects, non-conformance reports.
    • Measure and communicate environmental performance to the Contractor.

    Training and Awareness:

    • Conduct environmental awareness training on site together with Environmental Control Officer (ECO) and cEO.

    Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Communicating with landowners, as and when required;
    • Acting as Developer’s Environmental Representative on site and working together with the ECO and contractor.

    Education & Experience

    • Tertiary qualification(s) in Environmental science / management
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a large infrastructure and construction environment as an EO or ECO
    • Sound technical and commercial understanding of the construction Industry
    • Good understanding of the appropriate South African Legislation and International Standards and Regulations
    • Desirable to have wind farm project delivery experience
    • Demonstrated high level of commercial acumen, with a proven ability to navigate complex deal structures.
    • Demonstrated capacity to work for a multitude of internal and external clients with conflicting interests and priorities. Demonstrated capacity to influence outcomes.
    • Demonstrated capacity to develop and manage relationships to ensure outcomes are achieved as harmoniously as possible.
    • Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within the team environment; use initiative; solve problems through analytical thinking; and make decisions within an intense construction environment.
    • Experience with environmental, health and safety risk mitigation controls.

    Rock Engineering Intern, C3, VAR081/25GS

    Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Present key learnings to the Operational Management Team after each phase is completed and identify a project at the beginning of second year of developmental programme to present at the completion of the programme
    • Attend all formal courses and seminars as prescribed in the development programme and actively participate in all opportunities for development
    • Act in the capacity of other roles in the discipline as and when required and deliver on role outcomes as expected in an acting capacity as well as to suggest and advise on improvements
    • Identify, propose and participate in improvement or value-add projects relevant to the discipline by conducting research and benchmarking against other divisions and industries as well as networking with key internal and external stakeholders
    • Identify and engage with technical coach and mentor

    Requirements: (Internal Applicants)

    • Recognition of prior learning will be given to candidates that have experience in mining production, geology and/or mine planning

    It will be advantageous for candidates that have:

    • Already started with their Strata Control Certificate in Coal
    • Completed their Strata Control Certificate in Coal
    • Sound references from previous employers or learning institutions
