    Database Geologist - North West

    Purpose of Role

    The incumbent is responsible for database design aspects, the population, application, management and

    maintenance of the geological grade control and exploration databases, as well as the implementation and execution of protocols to ensure the integrity and security of all databases and related software.

    Role Context

    • Development and maintenance of the mine grade control and exploration relational database.
    • Development and execution of standard operating procedures for Quality Assurance and Quality Control of data inputs and outputs for both grade control and exploration.
    • Planning, scheduling, implementation, and control of data capture for programs and projects.
    • Constructive communication and liaison with the mine and exploration teams.
    • Provide guidance for drill & assay data management across the Tharisa group, including related training, mentoring, and developing industry best practice systems and procedures.
    • Support Sable implementation on new projects and change management of software upgrades and updates
    • Develop and maintain specialized mine grade control and exploration databases (e.g. geochemistry, mineralogy, mineral chemistry, production databases, ROM management databases, reconciliation databases, etc.) as and when required, under strict change control guidelines.
    • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.
    • Maintain database performance by troubleshooting problems.
    • Monitor and analyze new systems and upgrades and evaluate their performance.
    • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with external stakeholders.
    • Conduct Audits and PTOs on in pit face sampling, test hole sampling, RC sampling and Diamond drilling sampling. Weekly site visits required.
    • Management of grade control data capturing and sample processing at sample preparation area.
    • Manage all aspects of the Geology databases prospecting methods and other sampling techniques as well as the various Laboratories employed.
    • Produce accurate and validated data from the database for Grade Control, Project Evaluation and Resource and Reserve Estimation.
    • Preparation of status and signoff weekly and monthly reports.
    • Provides assistance to 3D Geological Modelling and Resource Estimation.
    • Document all systems and procedures to ensure system sustainability and efficient disaster recovery.
    • Conduct risk assessments on all grade control and exploration data collection and capturing points and compile risk management plans.
    • Ensure identified risks are addressed and eliminated timely.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
    • Honors Degree in Geology or equivalent Database related qualification
    • Registration with SACNASP.

    Job specific experience:

    • 5 Years of operational Database experience.
    • Experienced in managing geology and exploration database systems.
    • Proficiency with SABLE, Datamine software tools and MS Office.
    • Experience with ArcGIS and other geoscience software would be considered an advantage, as would a qualification or proficiency in Geostatistics and data administration.
    • Working knowledge of QAQC protocols and procedures.

    Water Browser Truck Operator

    Purpose of Role

    Water bowser operator is responsible for allaying dust in the pit by maintaining the scheduled route during the shift in a safe and cost-effective manner. The water bowser operator must always prefer filling water from the pit as part of pit dewatering strategy. Water bowser operator is also responsible for allying dust on the muckpile and dump areas where tipping /loading taking place.

    Role Context

    • Reports to the Pit Superintendent
    • Ensure that the truck water spays are not blocked and are all spraying well
    • Ensure that the water cannon is working well
    • Any damages to the truck are reported and attend to urgently
    • Reach daily production targets by allaying dust on the haul road, tipping and dumping areas
    • Do risk assessment before commencing his/her job
    • Fill in a checklist and report any fault to engineering
    • Avoid any rocks or sharp objects on the road, tipping or loading areas for tyre damages
    • Report any spillage on the road to the controller to avoid any tyre damages
    • Assist load & haul supervisors to execute their work safely and cost-effectively
    • Create and maintain good and healthy relationship with other employees and all managers
    • Minimize dust on haul loads and muck piles

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
    • Should have excellent communication in English both verbally and written.
    • Must pass both medical and dover tests

    Job specific experience:

    • Code 10 driver license
    • Must be able to work shifts and also on all holidays
    • 1-year mining experience in open cast mining will be an advantage

    Surveillance Technician

    Purpose of Role

    • Security Technology and Innovation Lead is responsible for installing, monitoring, repairing, and troubleshooting security systems. Your duties and responsibilities include assessing the location’s current security system and recommending the appropriate upgrades or providing advice on how to develop systems for Protection Services Offices. To ensure CCTV infrastructure maintenance, configuration and testing of network devices.

    Role Context

    • Proficient in installing and maintaining surveillance systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical issues and maintain.
    • Knowledge of network protocols and security standards.
    • Experience with CCTV, IP cameras, and DVR systems.
    • Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and or/ equipment.
    • Position requires technician to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
    • Technician would be available to answer client calls after normal working hours on weekend/holidays depending on the rotation order.
    • Responsible for updating team lead on the status of all work performed daily.
    • Notify team lead of any materials needed to complete duties.
    • Perform additional Security Technician related functions as assigned by the team lead and deemed within the general skill and ability level of a productive Security Technician in the company.
    • Familiarity with local and state regulations related to surveillance.
    • Create and execute test cases based on team/business requirements to ensure quality delivery of solutions prior to deployment.
    • Partner with IT and Project Planning teams to improve existing processes to ensure all requirements are met.
    • Assess, research, analyse and document Project/Resource Planning processes and systems to recommend solutions that meet sponsor/ stakeholder needs.
    • Help identify any resource conflicts as it pertains to Protection Services and test schedules.
    • Assist in simple data requests to extract production data and multi-load/insert to test environment.
    • Assist in test environment databases/test data purge process.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ NQF Level 4,
    • A+
    • N+
    • Low voltage electrical license preferred; however, we would also consider an experienced Security Filed Service Technician who is in process of obtaining their license.
    • Broad deep tech knowledge across consumer facing, business facing, infrastructure and software.

    Job specific experience:

    • 3 years field work experience.
    • Valid C1 Driver’s License.
    • Installing and servicing CCTV, DVR systems, and burglar systems in mining environments.
    • Proficiency on software applications including but not limited to Microsoft, Excel Word, and Visio

    • Must be medically fit.
