    Senior Electrical Engineer - Cape Town

    This position require a person managing the following areas:

    • Identify workplace hazards relating to the specific operation involving electricity (electrical works and non-electrical works close to electrical infrastructures) and has the Authority to take appropriate actions to safeguard human life and COMPANY assets.
    • Make sure that all electrical operations on COMPANY assets comply with COMPANY rule requirements and Best International Electrical practice.

    HSE Responsibilities:

    Define the HSE requirement for electrical activities for construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance phase of affiliates assets.

    • Promote HSE Culture in order to prevent and reduce electrical incidents.
    • Review Electrical HSE statistics for affiliate on quarterly basis and report to Management/;
    • Perform the Electrical High Potential Incidents analysis and ensure action plans are implemented.
    • Participate in Electrical Accident and Incident investigations as required (Origin, cause tree analysis, corrective action deployment)
    • Validate operation procedures (generic or specific) relative to electrical work or operations in the vicinity of electrical live installations for its affiliates sites

    Technical Responsibilities:

    Provide technical assistance to all COMPANY divisions (Engineering, Construction, Operation, Maintenance and Inspection) for the electrical operations, personnel and equipment.

    • Define what are electrical operations and non-electrical operations in the vicinity of electrical equipment in case of doubts.
    • Provide technical support during procurement (including rent) of main electrical equipment or electrical service providers.
    • Contribute to the selection of the contractors. Evaluate their competences in electricity
    • Ensure that Critical Electrical Protective Equipment (CEPE) are identified and subject to a well followed verification process described in the general maintenance process of the entity.
    • Review and approve Operation Procedures (risk analysis, mitigation plan, operations) involving electrical operations or operations close to electrical infrastructures and attend the operation when required or ensure suitable delegation for supervision with attention to LOTO process
    • Provide electrical expertise advice to all projects/construction/O&M Managers, organize and carry out reviews and audits for each Affiliate sites and/or contractors on yearly basis.
    • Attend to yearly inspection of main electrical equipment (sub-station, main boards) on site.
    • Perform regular audit of electrical work
    • Participate in all external electrical audits in his/her Affiliate
    • Perform regular Electrical Safety training/sensibilization, and Campaigns for COMPANY personnel and contractor personnel.
    • Contribute to the electrical part of the safety induction, for each site
    • Seek assistance from COMPANY internal resources when CPEO’s competencies are not sufficient;[BV1] 

    General Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for maintenance and development of methodology, rules and instructions for electrical operations for the affiliates
    • Issue and maintain the Affiliate methods and procedure documents regarding electrical operations;
    • Develop technical documents and procedures as per affiliate needs;
    • Ensure continuous improvement through Return of Experience sharing or procedure improvement
    • Participate in the process of derogations on electrical operations requested by affiliates for deviation of Company Requirements;

    Resource management:

    • Define the competencies required to affiliates electrical operations.
    • Assess personnel competencies to carry out electrical operations within Affiliate perimeter.
    • Define and validate the training program for personnel involved in electrical operations or operation around electrical equipment or infrastructures if required.
    • Validate and control outsourced electrical training.
    • Develop and maintain a electricity specialists network as a team member for regular communication with all entities CPEOs, and internal departments.
    • Develop proper communication channels and define a clear Competence Management Plan for Affiliate electrical Personnel.

    Organisational Responsibilities:

    • Review and advise Affiliate sites on Electrical Operations Organization & Safety System.
    • Develop and maintain a commercial relationship development with contractors (equipment suppliers, EPC, O&M ...) within affiliate country or regional perimeter.
    • Create and maintain a Electricity Network within affiliate perimeter;
    • Responsible for the communication of routine electrical activities or specific related campaigns within Affiliate.
    • Define common practices/tools and create a safe and efficient electrical culture within the Affiliate.
    • Ensure market intelligence survey on electrical activities, equipment or other resources.
    • Represent the Affiliate in any platforms concerning electricity such as meetings, seminars, forums or as requested.

    Candidate Profile

    • Preferably BEng/BSc/BS (Electrical, Mechatronic)
    • Diploma Electrical Engineering - minimum requirement.
    • Detailed knowledge of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards that governs electrical construction and operation activities in South Africa
    • 10+ years’ experience with a GMR 2.1 
    • Attention to detail required
    • Requires an organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management.
    • Commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective
    • Take ownership of meeting deadlines and drive tasks to completion
    • Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks.
    • Able to work independently and in groups
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
    • Understanding of MS Project and Primavera project schedules
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Interest in renewable energy projects
    • Proficient in English. Ability to speak Afrikaans will be an advantage on current projects

    Depot Administrator

    Activities
    Health, Safety, Environment and Quality:

    • Be part of the daily, weekly and monthly Safety meetings
    • Report near misses
    • Manage systems/procedures, incidents reporting to company policies and relevant regulations
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations
    • Assist with upholding the ONE Maestro Integrated system with the Depot Manager and other staff.

    Integrity role for Depot Administrator

    • Initiate meeting with relevant staff on the depot regarding safety barriers when Depot Manager/ Depot superintendent is not available
    • Realization of the integrity checks based on the guide when required.

    Administration:

    • Do approval requests
    • Process requests on e-Proc (manage stock required for the depot (order and buy) eg. Paper, water, other consumables
    • Verify and monitor accuracy of customer invoices processed and timelines are met
    • Monitor Competitor processing/queries and return rates
    • Delete unused Sales Orders and Post Goods Numbers
    • Monitor and Assist in following up on overdue accounts and queries
    • Responsible for petty cash control account balancing at all times

    Candidate Profile
    Qualifications Required:

    Experience Required:

    • A minimum of 2-3 years working experience in Accounting with Supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of stock control and management gained in a petrochemical/LPG production or industrial environment

    Operations and Maintenance Manager -De Aar

    Activities

    • This is a skilled position requiring overall responsibility for managing the maintenance and operations activities of the TotalEnergies SAL PV Storage Project comprising of a PV and BESS hybrid plant, including managing the personnel on the project site.
    • Other operational assets may be included in this portfolio after consultation with the Operations and Maintenance Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and coordinate all maintenance and operations initiatives and activities and ensure such are carried out in compliance with the relevant contracts and the TotalEnergies’ goals and objectives.
    • Be responsible for the implementation of TotalEnergies’ HSE policy and procedures.
    • Reporting : Manage and where required, compile stakeholder report distributions (at the frequency required) so as to ensure compliance with the requirements of the relevant project agreements (e.g. O&M Agreement (if internalised), finance agreements, AMA, PPA, IA, etc.).
    • Contract management : administer and ensure compliance with the terms and governance of all relevant project agreements, in particular the O&M Agreement.
    • Monitor the plants in coordination with TotalEnergies’ O&M monitoring/Asset Management in Cape Town and/or France.
    • Perform fault finding and diagnostics on all equipment and assist all zone supervisors in this regard.
    • Ensure maintenance and repair on all equipment are carried out timeously and in accordance with the relevant agreements and/or schedules.
    • Manage the supervisors on site.
    • Manage all contractors/sub-contractors on site.
    • Interact with Client Representative and/or Operator on site and facilitate stakeholder site visits.
    • Ensure that risks are managed effectively.
    • Measure and ensure that projects are delivering returns as forecasted.
    • Assess operational performance and identify areas for enhanced performance, through minimising downtime, conducting root cause analyses.
    • Work with the key delivery partners to ensure that value is protected, risks managed, and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
    • Embed a culture of managing each asset with an enterprise-wide view of the project agreements.
    • Ensure the company is appropriately organized and staffed as necessary to achieve the approved strategy.
    • Lead and manage the operation and maintenance team.
    • Ensure lessons learnt is collated and fed back to optimise projects in development.
    • Provide the necessary inputs as and when required for Total Energies Long Term Plan (LTP)
    • Maintain a strong link with TotalEnergies Assets and Countries division for project updates, tool evolution and global lessons learnt.
    • Any other activities that could reasonably be expected from this position.

    General Operation and Maintenance Management Tasks (non-exhaustive) 

    • Monitor and drive solar and wind and BESS project operational performance by working closely with our O&M contractors to ensure plants meets the base case p50 production expected.
    • Prepare annual plans and budgets.
    • Project manage plant retrofits/upgrades/optimizations to improve overall plant performance in conjunction with AM team.
    • Complete post-EPC close out activities in accordance with the relevant EPC contracts.
    • Manage all warranties, guarantees and other project security packages to ensure project risk and exposure levels are maintained and execute claims as required.
    • Support project insurance activities and renewal of policies.
    • Support the social investment program including meeting each assets Enterprise Development and Socio-Economic Development obligations.
    • Ensure works performed by O&M contractor, sub-contractors and other 3rd parties comply with technical requirements, contractual procedures, TotalEnergies compliance, HSE and ESG requirements, and regulatory standards governing the projects.
    • Ensure the accurate and on time execution of all scheduled services, as per the approved O&M plan, including unscheduled maintenance activities.
    • Conduct inspections and mini audits to ensure the continuous compliance with its contractual obligations of the O&M contractor on the site.
    • Ensure supervisors have the required tools and know-how to perform tasks.
    • Ensure weekly inspections of the HV substation, switching yard and surrounding areas are conducted.
    • Conduct weekly inspections of all facilities, buildings, stores, etc.
    • Manage and oversee the security service provider and train personnel on use of the camera system (if O&M is internalised).
    • Conduct / oversee all HV switching activities.
    • Review and approve contractual change orders in accordance with governance procedures.
    • Support the maintenance and where necessary the renewal of permits, licenses and approvals.
    • Review weekly progress reports to identify issues and take corrective action to remedy issues.
    • Verify forecasting reports.
    • Ensure dispatch compliance (if applicable).

    Candidate Profile

    • Electrical engineering, BSc. Eng, B Tech (or equivalent).
    • Qualified Electrician and GMR 2.1.
    • At least 10 years’ experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical maintenance.
    • Good people management and conflict resolution skills.
    • A strong background in contract management, preparing maintenance reports, evaluating performance results, compiling and maintaining maintenance schedules, administering maintenance contractors and managing of contractors
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with HV electrical safety procedures and general power plant safety procedures, and all applicable legal requirements.
    • Experience with environmental requirements and practices.
    • Ability to remain in control and perform effectively under pressure.
    • Good administrative skills.
    • Prepared to work shifts/overtime when required.
    • Physically fit and able to work in extreme weather conditions.
    • Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
    • Knowledge of and experience with plant SCADA process control systems
    • Knowledge and understanding of the OHS Act.
    • MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
    • Willingness to travel.
    • Ownership mentality.
