Job Description

As a Grade Control Officer, you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include:

• Monitor and control the ore through effective quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with the required specifications.
• Guide Load & Haul to reduce ore loss and maximize gain through effective dig plan use.
• Ensure ore blending is carried out optimally to produce products that are within desired marketing specifications.
• Optimize stockpiling of ore according to correct dispatching and material booking
• Monitoring Modular Mining Dispatch system and correct allocation of ore loading and hauling resources
• Monitor performance of quality measurement systems. Utilize ore reserves effectively by optimizing ore blending.
• Manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractor can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Stop unsafe work practices.
• Keep environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.
• This is a role for a Grade Control Officer at a Band GBF 7/8 and is reporting to Grade Control Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License
• For internal candidates on Sishen – red permit required
• Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent NQF qualification
• Computer Literacy
• Competency-A and or Rock Breaking Certificate.
• Valid medical certificate

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years geology, mining, or plant experience relevant to Grade Control in the Iron Ore production,
• Supervisor or acting supervisor experience desired,
• Plant beneficiation knowledge and experience as supervisor (Iron ore) advantageous.

• The Control Room Operator is a shift role responsible for the effective operation and control shaft conditions by monitoring the control systems and to ensure all variables remain within the prescribed limits during a shift.

Job Description

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Effective control of shaft systems including underground & surface conveying systems:

• Effective belt, TMM management, man & rock winder and underground pumping systems monitoring
• Effective response to indicated problems & call-out procedures
• Effective reporting on Safety indicators
• Minimize quantity of delays or disruptions to Shaft operation due to Control Room ineffectiveness
• Effective communications with team members
• Provide timely and accurate information for breakdowns, emergencies, and management
• Ensure reports are completed to required standard & time frame requirements
• Communication centre for underground operations
• Emergency point of contact for underground emergencies
• Liaison with Central Services as communication point regarding surface ore tramming.
• Communication centre with Central Services regarding surface ore movement

Effective monitoring, control & reporting of the shaft operation, conveyor systems and any incidents, where applicable, during a shift:

• Monitor, control & record all shaft underground & surface variables for optimal performance during a shift
• Controlling surface, shaft & underground operations
• Communicating all system defects to appropriate supervisor or manager
• Generating improvement ideas
• React appropriately to any abnormal activities & notify relevant shaft supervisor
• Assist Engineering to maintain equipment in control room area
• Activate relevant fire alarm system/evacuation procedure
• Monitoring the centralized blasting area.
• Data logging

Coordinating Control Room Operations

• Assisting during breakdowns or emergencies
• Applying appropriate stand by and/or call out procedures
• Monitor & recording compressed air usage, pump stations and dam levels
• Monitoring and recording anomalies at the loading box and skip conditions
• Monitoring conveyor transfer box conditions
• Identify and report any sudden changes in monitoring data.
• Direct underground team leaders, chairlift operators and pump attendants to areas of concern and report same to supervisor

Effective execution of control room operations

• Perform area administration functions
• Administer meetings within allocated time frame
• Conduct and participate in required meetings
• Monitoring time and attendance records where applicable
• Compiling accurate shift reports
• Compiling ad-hoc reports for management or other customers
• Relay instructions from management to team members regarding surface ore tramming.
• Establishing procedures for abnormal work requirements

This role is in the Engineering Department at a band C1 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/ N3 with Maths and Science
• 2-3 years’ experience working on shaft
• Sound understanding of underground mining operations
• Experience working in a call centre environment within Operating Model (advantegous)
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
• Code 8 driver’s license

Job Description:

• As a Performance Manager you will prepare Anglo American Platinum monthly management reports ensuring key issues are highlighted with focus on key value drivers and trend analysis.
• Assist in new management information system design and implementation
• Prepare forecasts, budgets, actual monthly, quarterly, interim and year end management reports research the subject matter and provide resolutions to issues.
• Participate in Anglo American Platinum led performance and diagnostic reviews and provide supporting analysis as required to Corporate Finance, Investor Relations, Operations Optimisation, Taxation, and other Group departments.
• Analyse performance and anticipate, research, and resolve issues. Includes identifying the impact of operating anomalies, adverse financial trends, changes in policies and reporting requirements, and evaluating the impact on reported results
• Liaise effectively with key business contacts and build up strong working relationships
• Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager PM, the role will be based at 144 Rosebank Corporate Office, at a Band 6 level.

Qualifications:

• Degree or Post Graduate degree in Finance
• CIMA/CA(SA) advantageous  

Knowledge & Skills required:

• 3-5 years management experience, 2 years of which should be in a Mining/PGMS environment
• Excellent financial acumen
• Advanced data analysis and management
• Proficient in mine financial systems and related legislation
• Advanced computer literacy (PowerPoint)  
• Experience in HFM - Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase and SAP (advantageous)
• Proficient in budgeting and forecasting, Actuals, data submissions, financial modelling
