    Continuous Improvement Specialist

    What you will enjoy doing

    • The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and sustainability of a performance-based controlling system in the plant. The role drives operational excellence through system introduction, training, performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent acts as a key enabler in enhancing value-added processes, ensuring data-driven decision-making, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Roll out and support the “Controlling Tools for Operations” system in the plant with a focus on value-added processes.
    • Develop and deliver training material and workshops related to system usage and performance improvement methods.
    • Identify and help evolve best practices and controlling methods that align with strategic operational goals.
    • Define and lead local operational excellence projects based on key figure analysis, in collaboration with plant teams (using lean manufacturing tools i.e. 5S / Problem solving / Standard Work).
    • Facilitate and support daily management systems, including monitoring and driving daily improvement activities.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with shop floor employees and management to promote continuous improvement and share successful practices.
    • Propose cost-saving initiatives and calculate expected savings.
    • Ensure smooth implementation, follow-up, and sustainability of systems through ongoing support and training.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a strong operations orientation.
    • Minimum 8 years of experience in an international manufacturing environment, ideally in plastic packaging.

    SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

    • Strong process and project management with analytical skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
    • Proven training and facilitation skills.
    • Excellent communication skills in English; additional language(s) advantageous.
    • Proficient in MS Office (advanced level).

    HSE Manager Southern Africa

    What you will enjoy doing

    • The job holder will be responsible for managing the Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management System across ALPLA's production and recycling plants within the Southern Africa cluster. This includes hazard identification, risk mitigation, and the prevention of incidents through monitoring key indicators such as LTIs, total recordable case rates, and near misses. The job holder will also take ownership of fleet control (acting as proxy for ALPLA), security management, and detailed audit compliance across SOAF, ensuring all systems and practices align with internal policies and legal obligations.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Occupational Health and Safety

    • Develop the annual strategic plan and budget for the HSE Management System.
    • Advise and support all organizational levels on HSE programs; promote compliance and safety awareness.
    • Create and maintain programs and training that identify and manage physical, chemical, biological, mechanical, electrical, and ergonomic risks.
    • Conduct and update hazard and risk assessments; revise internal policies accordingly.
    • Recommend disciplinary actions for repeated health and safety rule violations.
    • Promote HSE awareness through visual communication, emergency contacts, and visible postings.
    • Perform regular inspections, accident/incident investigations, and root cause analyses; ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
    • Maintain a database of incidents and near misses; analyse trends and communicate lessons learned.
    • Establish HSE requirements for contractors; monitor compliance and enforce accountability.
    • Ensure safety elements are detailed in all contractor agreements and project risk assessments.
    • Support HSE compliance on cluster-wide projects.

    Environmental Control

    • Evaluate environmental aspects and impacts using appropriate measurements and implement environmental improvement programs.
    • Monitor waste, emissions, and hazards in line with legislation; implement corrective actions as required.
    • Maintain ISO 14001 compliance and ensure the environmental management system remains effective.

    Civil Defence

    • Conduct fire risk assessments; implement and maintain effective fire protection and suppression systems.
    • Conduct monthly inspections of firefighting equipment to ensure readiness and accessibility.
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure team training and preparedness.

    Fleet, Security & Audit

    • Manage company vehicle administration, maintenance, and policy compliance.
    • Act as fleet control proxy for ALPLA and oversee security protocols.
