    Professional Construction Project Manager

    JOB TITLE

    • Construction Project Manager

    OVERVIEW OF POSITION

    • The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the successful implementation of various projects. Delta BEC requires its project managers to not only manage projects but to proactively participate in the scoping and integration of projects, and to ensure that projects meet clients’ expectations in terms of cost and quality. The position therefore requires an experienced individual that understands all aspects of the built environment and can work independently on projects with minimum oversight.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for for the successful execution of projects and duties will include:
    • Manage projects in line with international best practice
    • Plan projects in terms of
    • Project scope
    • Project schedule
    • Project costs
    • Manage the execution of projects
    • Manage project execution within agreed scope, cost and schedule constraints
    • Implement project quality system
    • Manage project resources
    • Appoint, lead and coordinate professional teams to achieve project objectives
    • Lead and supervise construction contracts
    • Manage project communication, including client, user and stakeholders
    • Manage project risks
    • Manage project procurement
    • Conduct technical and contract meetings
    • Prepare fee proposals and bids
    • Construction contract administration (acting as Principal Agent/Employer’s Agent)
    • Operate independently, managing projects from inception to close out, with minimal oversight.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ construction project management experience in consulting (i.e. at a project management or engineering or similar consulting firm) in the built environment, with a good understanding of the full project lifecycle and project management principles. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience acting as project manager with limited oversight.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BSc. Construction Studies/BSc. Construction Management/BSc. Quantity Surveying/or equivalent
    • BSc. Honours in Construction Management or similar is an advantage.
    • PMP and/or Pr.CPM is an advantage.

    SKILLS 

    • A working knowledge of typical construction contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC, GCC)
    • MS Office literacy
    • MS Project literacy
    • PMBOK literacy
    • Thorough understanding of the project life cycle
    • Good understanding of building construction projects
    • Good communication skills

    Senior Mechanical Draughtsperson

    JOB TITLE

    • Senior Mechanical Draughtsperson

    OVERVIEW OF POSITION

    • The selected candidate will join the mechanical engineering department as a senior mechanical draughtsperson. The candidate shall display a thorough understanding of HVAC, Wet Services, Medical Gas and Fire systems modelling and detailing in both Revit and AutoCAD Environments.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The duties of the Senior Mechanical Draughtsperson will entail the following:

    • Mechanical systems draughting (HVAC layouts, Wet services, Medical Gas, Fire protection and other Misc Services)
    • Revit Family creation.
    • 3D and section detailing.
    • Technical equipment schedules / bill of quantities imports and exports.
    • 3D coordination of all drawings with architects and other engineering disciplines.
    • Team collaboration and coordination in mainly a BIM environment. 

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

     Applicants should:

    • Have experience in mechanical draughting in Auto CAD and Revit MEP
    • Be proficient in mechanical 3D modelling
    • The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years relevant draughting experience. 

    QUALIFICATION

    • Matric certificate 
    • Relevant draughting qualification 
    • AutoCAD and Revit MEP certificates
    • B.Tech or N.Dip will be advantageous.

    Professional Quantity Surveyor

    JOB TITLE

    • Professional Quantity Surveyor

    OVERVIEW OF POSITION

    The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the following:

    • Taking full responsibility for all 6 stages of the QS services to our clients. These include, but not limited to, the following:
    • Elemental estimates;
    • Advising clients on economical viable options concerning building systems, materials, etc.
    • Setting up of contract documentation including bills of quantities;
    • Contract administration, payment certificates, measurement on site; and 
    • Final account reconciliation and contractor negotiations.
    • Delta BEC requires its quantity surveyors to proactively participate in the scoping and integration of projects, and to ensure that projects meet clients’ expectations in terms of cost and quality. The position therefore requires an experienced individual that understands all aspects of the built environment and can work independently on projects with minimum oversight. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To fulfil the role of Professional Quantity Surveyor, the candidate must manage project activities to deliver specified scope within fee budget, to an acceptable quality and on time. The duties of the Professional Quantity Surveyor will entail the following:
    • Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and commercial properties.
    • Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work. 
    • Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use. 
    • Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
    • Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies. 
    • Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering.
    • Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control.
    • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General.
    • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. 
    • Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors.
    • Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions and escalation 
    • Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-, progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports. 
    • Valuing completed work and arranging payments. 
    • Assisting the Bids Department with calculating professional fees and write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work.
    • Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment valuations and the reconciliation of the final account and close out report.
    • Preparation of monthly cost report / financial reports on projects including project cashflows.
    • Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.
    • Comply with Delta BEC Standards, Methodology and Procedures.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    The successful applicants should have:

    • Experience in Government Contracts and knowledge of the PFMA, JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, GCC and COLTO Conditions of Contracts;
    • Schools, Clinics, Hospitals, Renovation and Upgrade projects, Transport Taxi Ranks, Libraries, Shopping Centres, Office blocks and Housing developments;
    • Projects costs between R50mil – R1Bil;
    • Minimum 2+ years - Post Professional Registration 

    QUALIFICATION

    • BSc Quantity Surveying
    • BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying
    • Professionally Registered with the Council of South African Quantity Surveyors

    SKILLS

    • Registered as a Candidate Construction Project Manager with the SACPCMP
