    General Assistant - Bindery

    Job Description    

    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint a competent individual with knowledge and experience within an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of General Assistant within the Bindery department.  The successful incumbents will report to the Shift Leader.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Assisting the journeyman in the Bindery in setting up of Bindery machines
    • Performing change overs and make-ready
    • Feeding of Binding machines
    • Gathering and packing of printed material
    • Maintaining safe occupational health and safety standards
    • Ad-hoc tasks include general housekeeping and assistance with maintenance in the Bindery

    Educational Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent

    Experience Requirements    

    • 1-2 years’ experience in a FMCG bindery environment
    • Folding & Guillotine skills advantageous
    • Forklift License advantageous 

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must have technical aptitude and interest in the Printing Industry
    • Show initiative to improve the work environment
    • Safety consciousness
    • Flexibility to work shifts and long hours
    • Be physically fit for the working environment
    • Computer literacy on this level would be an advantage

    Group Financial Manager

    Job Description    

    • Novus Holdings is hiring a Group Financial Manager to lead financial activities, group reporting, budgeting and forecasting ensure accurate accounting processes and maintain financial controls that drives financial excellence across the business units throughout the Group.
    • This strategic role supports the CFO, oversees financial operations and ensures regulatory and statutory compliance.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Lead consolidated group financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
    • Manage internal and external audits and ensure tax compliance
    • Ensure adherence to JSE -Listing Requirements, Companies Act, SARS, King Code & CIPC requirements
    • Support divisional finance teams and maintain internal controls
    • Prepare accurate financial and regulatory reports
    • Monitor group cash flow, investments and treasury functions

    Educational Requirements

    Slitter Operator

    Job Description    

    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is currently seeking to appoint an individual, with knowledge and experience in an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of a Slitter Operator in the Finishing Department. The successful candidate will report directly to the Quality Supervisor in the Finishing department.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Set up and operate slitter machine.
    • Loads and unloads rolls from the machine.
    • Wrap finished rolls of film and load onto pallet.
    • Perform quality checks and ensure required tolerances.
    • Checks for product quality and removes any of poor-quality film.
    • Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and or adjustments.
    • Performing general physical activities i.e., lifting.
    • Maintaining safe occupational health and safety standards.
    • Maintain daily production records.
    • Ad-hoc tasks which include general housekeeping.

    Educational Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent

    Experience Requirements    

    • 5 years Slitter/ Rewinder Operator experience.
    • Experience in working with wrap around labels.

    Job Description

The team is exceptionally strong and is seasoned in standardisation and optimisation of processes, able to adapt quickly to change and most importantly solid in its culture and values.
    • Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint a Storeman to receive, store and issue stock according to prescribed procedures and principles, whilst maintaining safe occupational safety standards within the Paper Stores department. The successful incumbent will report to the Paper Stores Supervisor.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Receiving, storing, and issuing of stock according to prescribed procedures and principles
    • Knowledge of safety standard operating procedures relating to moving equipment
    • Maintaining safe occupational health and safety standards
    • Maintenance and operating of clamp and forklift machines
    • Working knowledge of operating a handheld scanner
    • Adherence to all Company safety policies, procedures, and SOP
    • Ad-hoc tasks include general housekeeping and assistance within the department

    Educational Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Valid Forklift/Clamp licence
    • Valid Code 01 / A (Counterbalance Truck / Side shift) and a valid Code 02 / C (Counterbalance Truck / Clamps) license

    Experience Requirements    

    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same or similar role
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in operating a forklift/clamp or any other moving equipment
    • Knowledge of the general layout of a production or manufacturing environment

    Advanced Copy Controller

    Job Description    

    • The Novus Print division has a proud legacy, which includes the highest level of manufacturing excellence, first mover in new technology and solutions-orientated offerings. The team is exceptionally strong and is seasoned in standardisation and optimisation of processes, able to adapt quickly to change and most importantly solid in its culture and values.
    •  Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint a detailed conscious Advance Copy Controller to check and report on defects on all print material within the Quality Control department. The successful incumbent will report to the Quality Control Co-ordinator.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities    

    • To check and report defects spotted during initial start of production cycles of both printing and binding 
    • Pack the selected quantity of advanced copies in accordance to schedules, label and supply to Despatch or Customer services for distribution to clients 
    • Record daily data with reference to production totals, defects and deliveries 
    • Communicate findings with relevant department heads and quality assurance manager 

    Physical & Environmental Requirements:

    • Regular manual handling on the production floor 
    • Safely lift and move boxes/stacks of printed material up to 25-30kg repeatedly
    • Stand and walk for extended periods 

    Educational Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

    Experience Requirements    

    • 1-2 years experience within the same or similar role 
    • At least 2 years general experience in a large printing environment
