    Chief Safety Officer (Lime Acres)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform the roles and responsibilities of the Chief Safety Officer as depicted in the MHSA regulation 2.17.4 read with all the stipulations of Regulation 2.17.1 and 2.19.3.                         
    • All responsibilities, relevant legislation, policy, guidelines, linked to activity, responsibility and schedule depicted in the safety portion of the OH&S - ISO 45001:2018 Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM).                         
    • Actively drive and promote our safety approach in line with the "safety differently" approach in line with our "Culture Code".
    • Draft and manage annual safety budget.               
    • Planning, scheduling and controlling inspection schedules, oversee compliance to schedules.                  
    • Draft CSO monthly mandatory reports for submission to the DMRE and Group Safety Lead.                     
    • Conduct incident accident trend analysis and develop safety interventions to mitigate unwanted events.                
    • Schedule and oversee the execution and quality of incident, accident investigations, remedial action plans and closeout of actions taken.  
    • Conduct over inspections in high risk areas with safety officers to determine compliance to the Safety management System components and give assurance on Safety Officer Inspection quality.                             
    • Responsible for the generation of cost saving ideas.                           
    • Provide Safety expertise and skills to the operation; advising on Safety solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the operation.  
    • Ensure capacity and bench strength of functional talent pool by coordinating, directing and leading Safety talent in area of responsibility.     
    • Conduct monthly safety officer meetings to ensure optimal performance and compliance to the Safety management system components.     
    • Take the lead in responding to regulatory instruction responses in corporation with the OPCO team.                       
    • Engagement and Communication: Engage internal and external stakeholders on Safety related matters, and support the operation on Safety related engagement.                              
    • Engagement and Communication: Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the operation.                        
    • Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation Audit: Ensure that all Safety reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.        
    • Monitor and evaluate performance against established strategies, frameworks, systems and programme, and identify and advise on opportunities for improvement to provide assurance to the Manager: Health, Safety, Environment & Quality and Safety Lead.                        
    • Participate in a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank Safety risk as these relate to the operation, in order to promote a Safety and risk-aware culture, ensure that any potential impact is understood, and facilitate effective decision making,  Safety risk mitigation and provide this as input into the ERM program.                        
    • Contribute to the identification, analysis and interpretation of Safety risks within the operation and contribute to the design and implementing of programmes and systems to mitigate risk and to prevent and reduce loss of the operation's assets. Provide this as input into the ERM program.               
    • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct.
    • Ensure Requisite Management Leadership practices.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Diploma in Safety Management (NQF Level 6)
    • Engineering Trade certificate or Blasting certificate (with mining competency certificates).
    • Leadership Development Programme (LDP) or PDSA Safety Officer Development programme or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety management (mining or construction).
    • Industry specific Operational Risk Management and assessment process experience.
    • ISO 45001:2018 Management System implementation and maintenance experience.
    • Experience performing internal workshop/site inspections and participate in HSEQ management system audits.
    • Emergency preparedness and response management knowledge and experience in the mining/construction Sector.
    • C-MIRM operational risk management knowledge and experience of system development and implementation.
    • Knowledge of industry and related legislation and standards.            
    • Computer literate (Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).                     
    • Valid driver's license. 

     ADVANTAGE:

    Experience in mining industry i.e. underground or open cast (Diamond Sector) will be advantageous.

    Occupational Hygiene Officer (Lime Acres)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure adherence to the occupational hygiene management schedule by performing the work as per the schedule.            
    • Order the required laboratory supplies and timeously ensure equipment & instruments are calibrated.
    • Ensure that all HSEQ reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.                  
    • Communicate and record ventilation information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays during production time.
    • Continuously analyse mining ventilation efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements or changes to maximise mining operation.  
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the HSEQ Function.
    • Provide knowledge and advice to all levels of management to identify and resolve a wide range of Occupational Hygiene management system and related interfacing issues.                           
    • Assist the Technical team with short and medium-term ventilation planning during LOM planning as well as model the ventilation network on Vensim.                   
    • Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non compliance issues.     
    • Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report on non compliance issues.                              .

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Intermediate Certificate: COM Mine Environmental Control (NQF 4 level).
    • A minimum of 3 years working experience in a mine ventilation and occupational hygiene environment.
    • Ventsim software knowledge.  
    • Mine Ventilation Society Membership.
    • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite                       
    • Valid driver's license. 

    ADVANTAGE:

    • Certificate: COM Mine Environmental Control (NQF 6 level).

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Compiling necessary internal and external reports.
    • Use the available resources and material to facilitate Occupational Hygiene training.
    • Recommend improvements on ventilation to ensure a healthy work environment free of pollutants before submission to the Occupational Hygienist.
    • Identify all applicable areas to be surveyed as well as the identification of the environmental risks example air born pollutants.
    • Conduct detailed ventilation planning to meet operational and maintenance targets.
    • Monitor compliance and update schedule progress.

    Manager: Engineering (Plant) (Cullinan)

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide input into the departmental budget; manage the budget for the area of responsibility; responsible for the generation of cost saving ideas.                       
    • Execute and approve administrative tasks, including applicable systems (e.g. Pipware, Modern Flow, ESS, Xtime, Isometrix).
    • Provide Engineering expertise and skills to the operation; advising on Engineering solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the operation.                 
    • Responsible for the planning and organising of resources to obtain production targets.               
    • Plan and coordinate major shutdowns with internal and external clients to ensure the timeous allocation of resources.        
    • Coordinate the design of new equipment and ensure integration with the application of existing technology and resources.
    • Responsible for risk evaluation and alleviation within design of systems, equipment and products (Technical and Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ).                               
    • Responsible for the execution of discipline design (systems, equipment and products) through to documentation and data pack management.
    • Responsible to perform fault-finding via drawings for effective equipment availability.                  
    • Responsible as a Regulation 2.13.1 legal appointee for underground / surface projects execution as outlined in legal appointment.               
    • Responsible as a Regulation 2.13.1 legal appointee for shafts, ventilation fans, compressors and surface infrastructure , all underground infrastructure (Mechanical & Electrical) and TMM (Trackless mobile Machinery & Track Bound) as well as project execution  in area of responsibility.                         
    • Ensure compliance to Statutory requirements and Mine Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice.
    • Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.                        
    • Monitor and evaluate performance against established strategies, frameworks, systems and programme, and identify and advise on opportunities for improvement to provide assurance to Management.                        
    • Aligned to Group and consistent application of all Engineering Policies across the operations.
    • Ensure that the Engineering Function's policies, procedures and methodologies are aligned to continuously improve the effectiveness of support to the relevant stakeholders.                         
    • Ensure compliance to asset and maintenance management policies.                             
    • Analyse and interpret maintenance trends and variances and initiate change.               
    • Engagement & Communication: Engage internal and external stakeholders on Engineering related matters, and support the operation on Engineering related engagement.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B Eng, BSc) Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • DMR Certificate GCC Mines and Works (Electrical or Mechanical).
    • Management Development Programme (MDP) OR equivalent.
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a mining environment of which 5 years were post GCC experience appointed as a 2.13.3.1 or 2.13.1 in a mining environment (Shafts/Underground/TMM/Plant and Project execution).
    • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate).
    • Valid driver's licence.

     OTHER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

    • Know and understand responsibilities for legal appointment.
    • Analyse maintenance trends and variances, identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are adhered to.
    • Demonstrate knowledge regarding sound engineering principles and practices.
    • Have knowledge and skill in implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
    • Know and understand continuous improvement methods and techniques.
