Job Description

• Our client in the banking sector is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer/Azure BI Specialist to join the Finance Technology Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing Procurement Technology applications, delivering data engineering solutions, business intelligence reporting, cloud-based analytics and production support within a SAFe Agile environment.
• The role combines Run-the-Bank (RTB) support and Change-the-Bank (CTB) initiatives, ensuring the stability, optimisation and continuous improvement of procurement technology platforms and data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support (Run the Bank)

• Provide application and production support for Procurement Technology solutions.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, defects and production issues.
• Monitor applications and perform corrective and preventative maintenance.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and data solutions.
• Execute changes in accordance with Change and Release Management processes.
• Write and optimise SQL queries and database scripts.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and execution.
• Ensure compliance with audit, governance and security requirements.
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to internal teams.

Solution Delivery (Change the Bank)

• Analyse business and user requirements.
• Design and develop scalable data and reporting solutions.
• Build, enhance and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence platforms.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Perform code optimisation and quality assurance reviews.
• Conduct component and integration testing.
• Plan and execute deployment, migration and cutover activities.
• Provide technical leadership and best-practice guidance on data architecture and cloud technologies.

Agile Delivery

• Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies including:
• PI Planning
• Daily Stand-ups
• Scrum of Scrums
• System Demos
• Inspect and Adapt Workshops
• Provide accurate effort estimates and delivery plans.
• Own and deliver assigned sprint and program increment objectives.

Experience Required

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Warehouse Development.
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in a production environment.
• Experience working within Agile and SAFe delivery frameworks.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
• Experience delivering cloud-based data and analytics solutions using Azure.
• Banking or financial services experience will be advantageous.

Overview

• We are seeking an experienced Intermediate - Senior Data Engineer to support the development, maintenance and optimisation of data solutions within a Procurement Technology environment. The successful candidate will have strong SQL and Azure expertise, with experience in Power Platform technologies and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data solutions using SQL and Azure.
• Build and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Provide production support, troubleshooting, bug fixes and performance optimisation.
• Develop, test, document and deploy application enhancements and data solutions.
• Perform code optimisation, system integration testing and deployment activities.
• Execute database maintenance, ad hoc queries and data-related changes.
• Ensure compliance with change management, audit and governance processes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Essential Skills

• Strong SQL development experience with the ability to build complex solutions.

• Ability to independently maintain, troubleshoot and optimise solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Fabric experience.
• Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments.

Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience for Intermediate level; 7+ years for Senior level.
• Relevant Degree, Diploma, or equivalent IT qualification.
• Microsoft Azure or Data Engineering certifications are advantageous.
