  • e.tv is South Africa’s biggest independent and free-to-air television channel. Established in 1998, the channel has been in existence for over two decades and appeals to all races, genders, ages and income groups.

     

    Intern: Social Media & Video Producer

    Assist: Produce Social Media Content  

    • Take instruction on cutting relevant clips from television for use on social media
    • Assist with compiling video content from reporters: edit videos/pictures sent by reporters into cohesive visual stories
    • Assist with the production of ‘features’. This includes sourcing footage/images from archives & live feeds, reporter content & wires.
    • Learning to write scripts as well as writing an AV (audio/visual) script and editing will be part of this process.

    Assist: Film, edit and produce content to be used on social media & website

    • Film, amongst others, ‘coming up’ videos for shows & preparing video for publishing on eNCA’s platforms.
    • Requirements will be in the newsroom & sometimes in the field, accompanying Reporters. 

    Assist with overall digital team functions

    • Transferring content to new website backend; podcast production assistance; acquiring footage from MCR, archives & reporters; assisting with photography/filming in the field; sourcing images for website; any other requirements from Digital News Editors. 

    Personal development

    • Engage in continuous learning, complete development plans, and stay informed on current events.
    • Show an active interest in learning from the team, as well as the newsroom as a whole 
    • Actively pursue training in different software/platforms used by the Digital Team

    Intern: eNuus Producer/Writer

    News Planning & Editorial Support

    • Assist with the planning and preparation of daily news bulletins.
    • Support the editorial team in identifying and researching news stories.
    • Contribute to discussions on the day’s news agenda.
    • Assist with writing and adapting Afrikaans news copy for television broadcasts.
    • Ensure content aligns with eNuus editorial standards and audience expectations.

    Content Production 

    • Assist in researching and producing accurate, balanced and engaging news stories.
    • Write scripts under editorial supervision.
    • Assist with fact-checking and verifying information before broadcast.
    • Help prepare broadcast inserts and supporting multimedia content.
    • Assist with uploading content to relevant digital and multimedia platforms.
    • Stay informed about current local, national and international news developments.

    Technical Support

    • Learn and use newsroom systems such as Dalet.
    • Assist with selecting archive footage and relevant visuals.
    • Support the editing of headlines, soundbites, overlays and broadcast elements.

    Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with newsroom teams, technical staff and graphics designers to ensure smooth production.
    • Coordinate with digital and social media teams to align broadcast content with online distribution.
    • Maintain relationships with sources, experts and analysts for on-air insights and interviews.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • National Senior Certificate is essential
    • National Diploma in Journalism and/or Media Studies is essential
