    Principal Hydrometallurgy

    Job Description
    To provide technical service, support and optimization of hydrometallurgical circuits across Anglo American and drive the development of appropriate new hydrometallurgical technologies, as directed by the Head of Hydrometallurgy.

    • Provide visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Anglo American values – particularly in the fields that have significant relevance to hydrometallurgy such as adherence to the Hazardous Materials Standard as well as the drive to minimize Occupational Exposure to tank house aerosols
    • Optimization of hydrometallurgical circuits (including cross value-chain optimization) and implementation of sustainable leading practices and designs.
    • Monitors on an ongoing basis the operating efficiency of plants against fixed criteria and discern if trends are in alignment to that of the operational targets and strategic intent.
    • Identify and resolve leading indicators of technical problems which may lead to a reduction in operating efficiency or put at risk the integrity of the overall operation.
    • Complete a base load of detailed technical investigations (using a number of tools ranging from excel to mass and energy balance simulation software and modelling), both at site and in the laboratory environment aimed at delivering a specified value for the business.
    • Provide planning, high level business case alternatives and process input during early studies, projects and opportunity assessments.
    • Develop appropriately detailed process models to predict performance and optimize new and existing process flow sheets.
    • Develop relationships with Refinery metallurgical and operational personnel and be a primary liaison with sites.
    • Initiate improvements and technology development (short and long term) and manage research in the development of new technologies and projects.
    • Support of new capital projects, and high value ‘Stay in Business’ projects, including identification of projects, development of business cases and process / specialist design input. Management of all process related aspects of projects (quality of EPCM deliverables, Process Design Criteria and functional specifications, HAZOP’s, Operational Readiness support).
    • Expertise of second generation autoclaves (POX/HPAL) or similar pressure equipment experience
       

    Qualifications

    • Qualification in Chemical or Metallurgy Engineering Degree
    • Masters or PhD is advantageous

    General Accounting Superintendent

    Job Description
    What you’ll do:
    Are you team+ driven and have strong team methodology, drive an innovative thought process within teams and maintain a strong governance and controls environment? As a General Accounting Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to ensure that activities are performed, controls are adhered to and identify deficiencies in the control environment.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Oversee general accounting activities which includes annual financial statement, fixed asset accounting and capital reporting
    • Maintaining a strong governance and controls environment
    • Drive an innovative thought process within the team
    • Drive strong team management approach
    • Ensure that the integrity of the balance sheet is maintained through the monthly preparation and review of in-scope balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that overdue line items are investigated/escalated and cleared.
    • Follow appropriate procedures to accurately, consistently and efficiently review transactions or resolve queries and provide guidance to Accountants. Report on issues and incidents, ensuring appropriate controls are embedded to prevent re-occurrence.
    • Critically review KPI’s, following-up deviations from KPI’s. Interpret and cascade financial accounting/reporting policy, standards, procedures and timetables.
    • Cascading of Group and GSS strategy down to line and develop function specific strategy.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisations to drive value, improve quality and minimise the cost. Facilitate implementation of these identified opportunities.
    • Identify opportunities for standardisation to support process efficiencies.
    • Facilitate appropriate stakeholder engagements and collaboration to manage SLA deliverables. Quality review of all deliverables. Deadline management.
    • Drive compliance to audit findings and ensure quality implementation.

       

    Qualifications

    • Qualified Charted Accountant
    • 5 years Accounting experience, with a Financial Accounting/Reporting/Management Accounting experience and 2 years at a managerial Supervisory level)
    • Highly knowledgeable on Finance, Tax and IFRS
    • A good working knowledge of SAP and HCM

    Protection Officer Operations

    Job Description

    This is a team supervisory role and will be responsible for supervising and developing the team of Patrolpersons including Senior Patrolpersons, within an Anglo American Platinum Operation to ensure that they perform their duties and that employees and assets are protected within the law. Investigation support and emergency protection duties will be part of the activities of this role Personal risk is a factor in the role due to Bullion / Cash transport duties, (if applicable), criminal investigations, armed response. VIP escorts and Counter Industrial Action situations.
