    Financial Admin Officer Lvl 2

    Key responsibilities:

    • Ensure valid, accurate and complete contract and project accounting for customer and supplier contracts and service level agreements including to review and ensure completeness of financial supporting documentation;
    • Review and/ capture contract details amd projects in terms of applicable accounting classification, project plans, performance obligations, cost centre allocations, budgets, including projects budgets integrated across clusters;
    • Update revenue recognition and process invoices or credit notes;
    • Record keeping of all contract and project supporting documentation as per SARS and CSIR policies;
    • Review debtors age analysis, follow up on outstanding invoices and request payment from customers;
    • Process ad-hoc invoices for services rendered or goods supplied in accordance with accepted quotations to account for revenue earned in compliance with CSIR policies, procedures and financial legislation;
    • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations;
    • Reconcile advances, claims and cash with the petty cash float;

    • Assist the Management Accountant / Finance Manager with preparation of weekly / monthly financial reports;
    • Communicate requirements and ensure adherence to relevant CSIR policy and process in all areas of responsibility;
    • Assist with training and coaching of finance trainees and interns;
    • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and to perform duties and communicate these to the Management Accountant and/ Finance Manager.

    Qualifications, skills and experience:

    • B Com in accounting, finance management accounting and studying towards CIMA would be an added advantage with three years’ experience in finance, including a sound understanding of financial accounting, financial reconciliation and reporting;
    • Working knowledge and understanding of an ERP system;
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of how contract and project related transactions impact on organisational financial results;
    • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite especially spreadsheets;
    • Knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation, policies and procedures typically relevant in area of responsibility.

    Firmware, Hardware and Embedded Software Engineer

    Key responsibilities:

    The successful candidate would be involved in the development of electronic modules and sub-systems. This will include, amongst others, the following:

    Interpretation of requirements and specifications:

    • Interpret user requirement

    • FPGA development using either Vivado or Quartus environments.
    • VHDL Firmware development of complex systems, Verilog experience would be considered an additional advantage.

    Conferencing and Accommodation Banqueting Manager

    Key responsibilities:

    • Establish, manage and motivate a dedicated C and A Banqueting team to perform their best in carrying out their respective duties, i.e., venue setup, banqueting, restaurant and bar service, as and when required to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.

    Mechanical Engineer

    Key responsibilities:

    • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to create (procure, modify or design) technical solutions to meet client requirements;
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on the interpretation of requirements, design reviews and trial feedback;
    • Create engineering designs on 2D and 3D CAD;
    • Compile product data packs (e.g. drawings, technical information, bill of materials etc.) for configuration;

    Project Manager: South African National Research Network (SANReN)

    Key responsibilities:

    • Managing projects (e.g., continuously update project plans, project requirements using a team-based approach and the business case to ensure that the project outputs remain desirable, viable and achievable);

    • A proven track record of managing complex medium-scale, multi-partner. e-projects or telecommunications infrastructure projects;
    • A deep understanding of formal project management implementation methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, etc.);
    • Extensive knowledge of government policies and processes (e.g., tendering and procurement);
    • A formal qualification or certification in Project Management (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP or a diploma) is mandatory;
    • Experience in public sector tendering processes;
    • Experience in working with project teams across organisational boundaries, under tight and dynamic deadlines;
    • Experience in working with senior executives in the private, public and academic sectors;

    The following would be advantageous:

    • A Master’s  degree in electronic/computer engineering or computer science;
    • Professional registration with relevant bodies, e.g. Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA);

    Key responsibilities:

    • Develop decision support systems based on processing of satellite image datacubes for Precision Agriculture (time series analysis and mapping to support real-time monitoring of crop growth and development);

    Group Assistant: Centre for Robotics and Future Production

    Key responsibilities:

    • Provide administrative support to the team and form solid professional relationships with stakeholders and clients in public, private, and international spheres;
    • Promote a professional first point of contact between all key stakeholders;
    • Draft research centre meeting agenda, accurately capture meeting minutes and circulate for inputs timeously;
