    Application Engineer

    Job description

    Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas. Supports projects in the identification and understanding of client requirements to develop technical specifications, implement designs, and deliver high performance, low-cost equipment and system results integrated with customers’ solutions. Interfaces with sales and marketing teams to design and deliver client solutions. Develops and delivers training on client applications.

    • Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.
    • Leads small projects or portions of large projects.
    • Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.
    • Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.
    • Influences at department or program management level.
    • Provides input on program-related decisions.

    • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages applications expertise on other projects.
    • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

    • Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products and product lines. Able to represent the features and benefits of the products in terms a customer will understand. Knowledge of how the product functions and the technology used.
    • Cross-Functional Design Review - Able to carry out and coordinate a cross-functional design review at an advanced level and in a wide range of work situations without guidance. Able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review on a limited basis.
    • Product Validation - Includes the ability to install, setup, calibrate, and operate the equipment associated with testing in accordance with standard procedures and customer requirement. Is expected to understand the concepts of rating engines and driven components such as cooling systems, alternators, etc., and be able to use this knowledge to determine the rating of a product under various conditions.
    • Analyze Issues - Solid understanding of how to analyze issues. Demonstrates use of analysis skills to learn and analyze information in a timely way. Understands complex concepts and problems and identifies how they relate to key processes. Applies accurate logic in solving problems.
    • Manage Customer Relationships - Uses appointment tracking system, documents call plans, meeting notes and action items. Has established rapport, delivered on commitments, and developed a positive relationship with customers.

    Education, Licenses, Certifications

    College, University, or equivalent degree in Engineering required. Advanced degrees are preferred.

    Intermediate level of relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project

    Maintenance Technician

    Job description

    • To ensure that all assigned work and related procedures are in a safe effective and efficient manner. The person will be responsible for maintaining and servicing of machinery in the plant and optimizing the machinery output. Assists with planning and executing the preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance of production equipment.

    • Inspect all machinery and equipment of a manufacturing unit.

    • To strive towards zero defects in the machine servicing and repairing process.

    • Assist and support management with all aspects of managing the business.

    • To work overtime when required to do so provided such requirements are reasonable and falls within the requirements of the Law.

    • To ensure the accurate and timely completion of all worksheets, timesheets and quality documentation.

    • Maintaining a record of all the maintenance work that has been conducted on the machinery through Maximo system.

    • Ensure proper functioning of machinery.

    • Detecting defect and malfunctions in the functioning of machines and repairing the same

    • Refurbishing machinery and replacing parts to optimize output.

    • Obtaining feedback from the production department regarding the functioning of the machinery.

    • Develop a list of critical spares taking into consideration the costs and lead time to meet the Filtration strategy.

    • Placing orders for spare and replacement parts and filing order forms and documentations for the same.

    • Complying with all safety measures outlined by Cummins for all work processes.

    • Training shop employees on new equipment in conjunction with the Manufacturing Engineering team.

    • Controlling of inventory accuracy for Maintenance spares.

    • Establish preventative maintenance processes to ensure equipment is available and capable.

    • Controlling of Maintenance budget spent of Manufacturing expenses.

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

    • A diploma/N4 Trade test Millwright or equivalent from a certified college – a must have.

    • Should have excellent written and verbal communiqué abilities.

    • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

    • Should have the ability to detect technical malfunctions and repair the same.

    • Electrical System Troubleshooting – should have the ability to design and repair facility and machine electrical systems while utilizing the required safety procedures User. Thorough understanding of machine electrical design requirements. Understands safety requirements and lockout/tag out procedures and uses them at all times.

    • Contractor Management - The method of managing contractors is an extension or supplement to in-house resources. Reviews Cummins safety and security procedures, incident reporting procedures. The creation and communication of the project plan (work instructions) to the contractor, the tracking of work performed, equipment modified, updates of drawings, etc. Experienced using the standard operating procedures. Communicates with contractors regarding the contractor's manual and site safety procedures. Can assure the proper permits have been obtained and that a job plan with clear deliverables has been created prior to the start of work.

    • Programmable Logic Controller (Plc) Technologies - Involves understanding and being able to use factory floor Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technologies. Detailed understanding of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based machine control and communication technologies. Able to work with consultants to specify their design and operation. Can assist in the troubleshooting of system problems.

    • Factory Automation And Control Systems - Understanding of the closed loop control of factory automation systems. Understand the basics of how to set up and adjust existing systems. Can assist in the troubleshooting of system problems.
