    Key Purpose

    Security Solutions Architect

    Key Purpose

    • The Cloud Security Architect is responsible for defining, governing, and guiding secure cloud architectures across the organisation, with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as the primary strategic platform, while maintaining strong security and architectural oversight across AWS, Azure, and hybrid on-premises environments.
    • The role combines security architecture ownership, cloud security consulting, and engineering oversight. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, the Cloud Security Architect supports teams in securing existing cloud platforms, leads the secure onboarding of new cloud environments, and ensures security is embedded by design across all cloud initiatives.
    • The primary accountability is security architecture, design architect, and enablement, rather than day-to-day platform operations. Hands-on engagement is expected where required to validate designs, assess risk, and guide secure implementation.

    • Define secure connectivity patterns between cloud platforms and on-premises environments.

    • Demonstrate strong IaC literacy, with the ability to read, understand, review, and assess IaC code (e.g. Terraform and cloud-native templates).
    • Identify and remediate security risks, misconfigurations, and architectural gaps within IaC, ensuring alignment to security standards, secure baselines, least privilege, and Zero Trust principles.
    • Support security and operations teams by reviewing and guiding IaC submissions from a security architecture perspective.

    Identity, Platform & Data Security

    • Define enterprise cloud identity architecture, including federation, workload identities, and privileged access models.
    • Guide security architecture for Kubernetes, serverless platforms, and managed cloud services.
    • Consult on standards for encryption, key management, secrets management, and data protection

    Governance, Risk & Enablement

    • Ensure cloud architectures are auditable, observable, and compliant with internal standards and external regulations.

    JAVA Developer (Senior)

    Key Purpose

    • This role involves analysing business requirements and translating them into robust technical designs that align with Discovery Life’s architectural standards. It includes overseeing the correct implementation of these solutions by coaching and mentoring junior developers to maintain high-quality outputs. The position ensures that applications function as intended, reviews testing scenarios for adequate coverage of system and process impacts, and provides ongoing guidance to business teams. Additionally, the role contributes to identifying and eliminating root causes to improve overall system stability and efficiency.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to 

    • Participate in Business Requirement or Architecture JAD sessions.
    • Analyse the Business / Architecture Requirement and clarify any unknowns with the Business Analyst, User and System Architect.  Ensures that changes are updated in the Business / Architecture Requirement specification.
    • Performs a thorough Impact Analysts and supplies accurate estimates for the necessary development effort.  Highlights any risks.
    • Formulate a technical solution and review with the Systems Analysts, the development team and Development Manager.
    • Produce a Technical Design document, using the standard Template and in accordance with the Discovery Life standards.
    • If Database work is required, prepare a Logical view diagram and liaise with the Database Architect and / or DB Systems Analyst to supply the necessary components.
    • Participate in technical analysis JAD Sessions with all Stakeholders.  Ensure that all Stakeholders are in agreement with the technical solution and that it aligns with the Business / Architecture requirement.
    • Execute the manual code review process as per Life Tech Forum standards.
    • Ensure that Unit and Systems Integration testing is conducted and defects are identified and fixed before handing over for Testing.
    • Work with the Test Analyst to ensure that the Testing coverage is sufficient and accurate.

    Education and Experience

    Essential:

    • Matric
    • Formal software development qualification(s), such as Object-Oriented Analysis & Design.

    Key Purpose

    • To transport the Healthcare professional to and from appointments. To transport medical samples to designated locations.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    Java Developer

    Key Purpose

    • To fulfil a pivotal role within a software development team that designs, develops and maintains the systems for Discovery’s dynamic Life Insurance business.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

    Planning:

    • Perform a high-level impact analysis, establish Scope and provide estimates based on technical requirements.
    • Proactively liaise with all stakeholders.
    • Create required planning tasks in SDLC tool and set due dates according to agreed milestones.

    Analysis and Design:
