    Senior Manager - Management Consulting

    What You’ll Do  

    • As a Senior Manager, you will make an important contribution to the strategy, design, and implementation of business decisions to ensure positive impact and sustainable results. You will develop tailor-made solutions for highly complex cases, lead engagements, and act as the key point of contact for your clients, senior leaders, sponsors, and other stakeholders within Hatch. You will lead and provide mentorship to your teams, while coordinating resources, owning the outcome, and continuing to inspire and drive progress. 
    • Lead end-to-end engagements, delivering quantifiable impact (cost savings, improved KPI, etc.). 
    • Actively manage and lead SMEs in an engagement. 
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects, while providing quality assurance to ensure work is delivered to the highest possible standard. 
    • Supervise, coach, and participate in the value creation process across the team. 
    • Structure problems and define the workstreams to deliver impact. 
    • Respond to client concerns efficiently, proactively coaching clients in problem structuring and solving. 
    • Anticipate barriers to successful analysis and guide the team in resolving them.  
    • Develop growing client network and build effective relationships with new clients. 
    • Proactively engage key client stakeholders to update/manage expectations 
    • Take global best practices and customize for client context. 
    • Identify opportunities and invest time to coach team members 
    • Actively seek out opportunities to develop innovative solutions and services 
    • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity 
    • Assist with the project risk evaluations and management processes, including start up planning activities, holding workshops, assessments, and developing business philosophy and operational strategy. 

    What You Bring to the Role 

    • 10+ years of management consulting 
    • An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent 
    • Advanced graduate degree e.g., MBA, PhD or equivalent is advantageous 
    • Proven experience in mining, metals, energy or infrastructure projects. 
    • Solid functional knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Strategy, Transaction Support, Business Transformation, Capital Productivity, Supply Chain, Asset & Maintenance Management, Organization Effectiveness, and Risk Management 
    • Experience in managing and executing large-scale operational engagements 
    • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to distill value during projects 
    • Proven client relationship management and business development skills 
    • Motivating and supportive leadership skills

    NDT Technician

    • Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated a NDT Technician to join our Business Practices, in Johannesburg office
    • Our Technologies team is focused on the commercialization and delivery of technologies across all three of Hatch’s sectors: Metals, Energy, Infrastructure. We’re a team of innovators and problem solvers who deliver customized and specialized engineering to deliver novel solutions and technologies.
    • In addition to developing new technologies and selecting and installing equipment in greenfield projects, we help our clients to get the most from their existing assets by providing field support, rebuilds and repairs, and retrofits. We also work with our clients to optimize their existing technologies to achieve the maximize benefit.  
    • To be successful in this position, you should have hands-on NDT and QA/QC experience, with strong attention to detail, and a creative mind. For this role, you should be highly efficient and have keen eyes for detail. Your goal will be to execute Hatch’s conventional and advanced patented NDT technologies that capture and promote Hatch’s vision in accordance with Hatch’s and our Clients requirements in mind. 

     As the successful candidate, you will:

    • Participating in various projects from concept to completion
    • Understand project requirements and concepts
    • Understand and execute various inspection techniques efficiently and effectively
    • Pitch creative ideas
    • Collaborate with team members on various projects
    • Take on special tasks (e.g. QA/QC and Hatch specialized technology)
    • Use feedback from other specialists to successfully execute NDT, QA, QC and welding and fabrication inspections.

    You bring to the role:

    • Up to 5 years of experience as a NDT Technician
    • Experience with Microsoft word, power point and excel
    • Familiarity with multiple inspection techniques
    • Teamwork skills
    • Keen eyes for detail
    • Time management and multitasking abilities
    • Research new product ideas and methods 
    • Ensure compliance with the industry’s safety standards
    • Maintain accurate records
    • Ensure products are user- and environment-friendly
    • Write detailed reports
    • Find creative solutions to inspection problems

    Minimum requirements

    • Qualifications in Non-Destructive Inspection and Testing (NDT). Level 2 in Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and Dye-Penetrant Testing
    • Experience Welding and Fabrication Inspections
    • Experience QA and QC

    Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

    • The successful candidate will contribute to design, assessment, development, and delivery of surface and underground mining-related infrastructure across all project phases, including Concept Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), Feasibility Studies (FS), Execution (Detail Design), Construction Support and Commissioning.
    • Working within multidisciplinary teams, the engineer will support the design and delivery of mechanical systems associated with shafts, underground mining infrastructure, materials handling systems, process plants, pumping systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration facilities, workshops, and associated mine infrastructure.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • A mechanical engineer who combines strong technical design capability with 2 to 5 years of post-graduate practical project experience within an engineering consulting, EPCM, mining house, contractor, or industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and the ambition to grow into a lead mechanical engineering role through participation in complex surface and underground mining projects across Southern Africa and internationally.

    Prerequisites

    • 2-5 years’ experience within an engineering consulting, EPCM, mining house, contractor, or industrial environment. Exposure to mining projects is advantageous.
    • Registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA. Progress toward Professional Registration is preferred.
    • BSc/B. Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
    • Mechanical system design experience, preferably within a mining or industrial environment.
    • Working knowledge of fluid simulation software such as FluidFlow, AFT Fathom or Flownex is advantageous.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Developing mechanical design basis and criteria
    • Developing technical specifications
    • Developing mechanical and piping designs from Concept Phase through to Execution
    • Developing technical discipline documentation for enquiry and contract placement purposes related to contract or procurement packages – Scope of Work documents and Material Take-Off’s (MTO’s)
    • Undertaking mechanical and piping analysis and design calculations, inclusive of compilation of design reports
    • Understanding relevant local and international mechanical and piping codes such as ASME B31.3
    • Guiding mechanical/piping designers with input and development of 3D models, and participation in 3D model reviews
    • Thoroughly reviewing mechanical and piping drawings
    • Undertaking intra-discipline and inter-discipline reviews and co-ordination
    • Participating in client meetings
    • Participating in Risk reviews (HAZiD, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews and Risk Assessments)
