    DURATION : NINE MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT (NON-RENEWABLE) 
    STIPEND :   R 4 800 PER MONTH

    Parks, Sports and Cemeteries – Tractor Driver (2)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 10 or NQF equivalent.
    • Valid Code C1 (10) Driver's Licence with a valid PrDP.
    • Valid competency/authorisation to operate tractors and related agricultural or municipal machinery.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 1–2 years' relevant experience in operating tractors or similar heavy machinery.

    KEY COMPETENCIES

    • Good planning, organising and time management skills.
    • Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Knowledge of basic tractor maintenance, servicing and daily pre-start inspections.
    • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993).
    • Knowledge of safe working practices when operating heavy machinery and equipment.
    • Understanding of municipal operational procedures and machinery safety requirements.
    • Knowledge of road safety rules and regulations applicable to the operation of vehicles and machinery.

    DUTIES

    • Inspecting safety devices, controls, lubricant levels, etc. on tractor vehicles and reporting defects.
    • Grass cutting with tractor slasher.
    • Spreading fertilizer with tractor fertilizer spreader.
    • Observing and/or participating with personnel in the loading/ offloading sequences of items and tools, (refuse bags, spades, brooms, brush cutters).
    • Driving to waste disposal/ landfill sites, monitoring the offloading of waste from the vehicle, informing personnel of specific guidelines with respect to waste/litter separation where necessary.

    Parks, Sports and Cemeteries - General Assistant (3)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 10 or equivalent.

    DUTIES

    • Perform general labour duties within the Parks, Sports and Cemeteries Section.
    • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of municipal parks, sports grounds, cemeteries and related facilities.
    • Carry out grass cutting, trimming, weeding, pruning and general landscaping activities.
    • Assist with cleaning, litter collection and removal of refuse from parks, sports facilities and cemeteries.
    • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of sports fields, recreational areas and public open spaces.
    • Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of cemeteries, including pathways, gravesites and surrounding areas.
    • Load, offload and transport tools, materials, equipment and other items as required.
    • Assist with minor maintenance and repair activities under the supervision of the relevant supervisor.
    • Operate basic tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 or NQF equivalent.
    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification – Three-year National Diploma in library Science, (B. Bibl or B.Tech) or equivalent (NQF Level 6 or 7)

    • Minimum of 2-3 years' relevant experience in library operations.

    DUTIES

    • Implements activities and executes applications associated with the provision of a comprehensive library information service to local communities.
    • Coordinates and controls the tasks/ activities of subordinates and allocates and prioritizes outcomes.
    • Coordinates and executes specific procedural applications associated with the acquisition, organization and communication of information.
    • Coordinates specific activities associated with promoting reader awareness and interest and, provides information to users.
    • Coordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated operational key performance and result indicators.
